This is one time where Unilocal reviews have failed me. The roast beef Po-Boy was probably one of the worst things I’ve ever put into my mouth. That and half way through my first couple of bites my wife pointed out a guest on the floor of the restaurant(see photo). The staff was friendly that’s why I’m giving them one star. All of the great reviews you see for this place have to be written by the owners, or their good friends. Avoid this place like the plague.

The Lunchbox never disappoints! They have great food. I mean all of it is great! I usually get a roast beef po boy but their hamburgers and salads are great too! My only complaint is that they aren’t open on the weekend.

TASTY is one word that comes to mind. If you want a great po boy(roast beef, hot sausage) or muffaletta this is the place! The real deal. I’m from New Orleans so Ive eaten my fair share of good and bad sandwiches. This place is EASILY one of the best. The hot sausage reminds me of an old creole New Orleans hot sausage. The roast beef is real beef cooked down and sliced. The hamburger is damn good too. They also have daily lunch specials(meatloaf is one of the one’s I usually get). Another big factor for me. CONSISTENCY. It is always the same every time I go. They are only open for lunch(10:30−2:30) and closed on sat and Sunday so if there’s a con that’s it.

Poboy’s and daily lunch specials are what the Lunch Box is all about. It has a loyal and steady customer base a testament of quality and consistency of the offerrings. When I find a great lunch joint I like to stick with it. I have been here many times over the years and now that I am on Unilocal I can spread the good news to others not familiar with this great lunch in Waveland.

This place would be a solid 3 star joint in NOLA but in the Bay I give it 4. Have been here with large groups before and everyone seemed very pleased.

Probably the best place in The Bay to get a po boy or fried seafood. A bunch of us went the other day and everyone was pleased with their oyster, roast beef, shrimp, po boys, seafood platters, and shrimp salads. Only open for lunch and is cash only, though.

This place is yummy. Today was my first trip. Officially, my third favorite place to get a Po-Boy :) I do think they need to start accepting debit/credit cards. Would make things more feasible.

Every time we visit Mississippi we make a stop at The Lunch Box. As of this writing they only accept cash or check. You walk up to the counter place your order and take a seat while your sandwich is made. Really calling anything created here a sandwich is an injustice. The Lunch Box serves Po Boys & Muffulettas. Situated in a small strip mall on Hwy 90 — it epitomizes the small, hole-in-the-wall local lunch joint. The interior is sparse, the soda is served in a can and the food is unbelievable. Thus far I have sampled: Shrimp Po Boy — Loads of fresh Gulf Coast shrimp lightly fried on French bread with tomato, shredded lettuce and mayo.(all the stuff after the shrimp is known as being«fully dressed») Roast Beef Po Boy — French bread loaded with roast beef fully dressed with lots of beef gravy making this sandwich a serious delicious catastrophe to eat. Hot Sausage Po Boy — Insanely good country pork sausage pressed into a rectangular shape and fully dressed with a little bit of kick. In laws said it was not traditional but all agreed it was delicious. Looking forward to my next visit to Waveland — Bay St Louis… hoping to have the fried oyster po boy. Thanks for your Southern hospitality and great food!
