Generally Brighton and the ladies that work there are super helpful and very friendly and a totally joy to speak with. Yesterday was my first negative experience. My mother LOVES the pens that they carry, so I stopped by to grab one for her. My first gripe is that they didn’t have very many different colors of the full size ones in stock. The only ones they had that were all one color and not art-deco looking were the mini ones, which are impossibly short to write with. I settled for a full size pen in colors that my mom would like but not love. Maybe she can just close her eyes while she uses it. I go to check out and the saleswoman, Robin, asks me if I would like to look at the beads. Not really, but I know how terrible it is to be in sales so I look. I find one that my mother would like but for $ 40 I decide to pass. I go to check out and the woman tells me I HAVE to purchase a bead to buy the pen. That’s extremely silly. All I want is the stupid pen. I pick out the bead and the saleswoman asks me if I’m going to buy it! I think it is very rude to profile your customers based on age. Suddenly as soon as I pull out my credit card she morphs into a normal, bubbly, helpful Brighton saleswoman that I’m used to seeing. Total 180 degrees. I will continue to shop here, but will avoid Robin and holiday time shopping.
