Super Lube

There aren’t a whole lot of options in Waunakee as far as no-​appointment oil changes go. Been here a couple of times and I thought they did just fine. I didn’t have a problem with the sales pitch — just politely say «no thanks» to the extras and they aren’t pushy.
Nothing fancy, but there’s rarely a long wait and I thought the price is reasonable for Waunakee. Yeah, the waiting area isn’t exotic, but I don’t hang out there; instead I walk across the street to McDonalds or Burger King and grab a coffee and come back.

Convenient but Pricey
While I usually get my oil changes at the Sun Prairie Woodman’s, I go to the local Super Lube when time is at a premium. Since the place is rarely busy, I can get the oil changed in about 15 minutes. The staff members are generally courteous and efficient.
However, the convenience comes at a price:
* Cost: The cost of a regular full service oil change is $ 35, which is $ 9 more than the full service oil change at Woodman’s. You can generally find coupons on the Super Lube website to help make the cost more competitive.
* The extended sales pitch — good god, all I want is an oil change, not a 5 minute overview of my car maintenance schedule. The thought of reading a 1978 edition of Field and Stream while you overhaul my engine really does not appeal to me, if you catch my drift.
* The grittiness factor — the waiting area is definitely no frills, with a entertainment provided by a 20 inch tv and a couple ancient editions of Field & Stream, Highlights for Children (will that rascal Goofus ever get the better of Gallant?!?) and everyone’s fave-​o-​rite ‘zine, Birds and Blooms. The place rates a solid 4 on the 1 to 10 cleanliness scale. The tattered seat covers in the waiting area have that chic abandoned inner city school vibe going on. There’s no free wi-​fi, so you’ll be using 4G to write your real time Unilocal review as you wait.
