Zip Fitness

Very nice gym had a membership there and it is fair priced. The gym is neat and organized staf is friendly. I like it. The only thing is there is not a pool or any extras included but besides that everything is great very good if you have time to go to the gymtoo often because then you wont feel like you are just giving money for nothing the price is right

I would have gave 1 star but it gets 2 for the low cost. There are never enough clips for the weights, and the equipment is never put back correctly. I think it’s silly there are only two benches and one free weight squat rack.
You will usuall end up spending a lot more time working out then you need to because you will be waiting to get on certain equipment. This gym is better suited for your amateur lifter or someone interested purely in cardio machines.

What a shit show. Every last bad review on here is absolute truth. No urgency for members what so ever. They need to get rid of the morons at the front desk and hire security or gym police or something. One girl who works there is a huge gaping cunt. BUYER BEWARE

Don’t get a membership here. I joined at the beginning of this year and the credit card they had on file was stolen from me in March, 2015. I assumed because the credit card was inactivated and no payments were being made that my membership lapsed. HA! I called today to find out how to reactivate my account and was told the account stayed active and I need to pay for the months that I didn’t use the gym in order to get my account current. Zip Fitness NEVER sent me any correspondence explaining this. So you want me to pay for months of time I didn’t even use the gym or didn’t even know I could use the gym? I DONT think so. I’ll find another gym and tell everyone I know to zip on past Zip Fitness.

The staff is horrible. Some of the girls working there don’t greet you or don’t say anything when you walk in. I overheard one talk about police academy well she will fit right in being a cop with that bitchy face of hers. The equipment is always dirty and it is so busy that it makes me not want to go! The price is only reason they even got a star. Improve your customer service and fire people who don’t want to be there please

This gym. Well there’s a lot of cardio machines and weight machines but jeez this place is always damn busy! Nobody really wipes their machines when finished and just feels like there’s no room to work out! The free weights. Man this section is we’re all the cocky, douches hang out, using every machine like it’s theirs to claim, eyeballing anyone that goes in there like it’s their territory not to mention they don’t even put the equipment back!

Me and my wife were very impressed by this enormous place with every workout machine you can think of. We loved the monthly fee and the initiation fee wasn’t that bad, BUT, as I was ready to sign the papers (1;- why would I be signing any papers if there is no contracts according to this place ?), 2;- I was asked for my bank account number, so they could take out the monthly fee? Ain’t no way I’m letting a total stranger company into my account, that’s common sense. I told the lady we would pay as we go along, we were told it couldn’t be done that way, I told then to kiss my gritts.
Folks, this is a ripoff with one hell of a nice front, stay away from this place and avoid a bad time.

I’m very disappointed with zip. I have been going to zip for a while. The staff is friendly and the ambience decent early in the mornings, or so I thought until one Saturday morning someone takes my coat from the women’s locker room. I fill out an incident report and was told someone would contact me and follow up on the situation once they checked the cameras. Days pass by and no one contacts me, so I follow up on Monday, I am told the manager Alejandra will contact me. I wait and no one calls, so I call. I would expect for someone to have the decency to call me and at least apologize for the incident. I spoke to Alejandra who tells me she doesnt know why the employee at the desk would even mention the cameras when she doesn’t have access and it wouldn’t show much. I was in awe, she said all it would show is people coming in and out of the locker rooms and the check in and she wouldn’t be able to tell who took it if they placed in in a bag. I tell her i gave the time frame and if they would let me look at the footage because i highly believed my coat was carried out either worn or in hands, but not in a bag since it was a big coat. She tells me she will contact the owner who has access to the footage and she would get back to me. The cameras at zip are pretty much useless, they are used for the owners convenience not for the client. The situation was handled poorly, they do not have a protocol to follow. My advice is never leave your stuff unattended and lock everything. I completely understand that my belongings are my responsibility, but if you have someone fill out an incident report please have a protocol to follow depending on the situation and the decency to follow up with the client. Poor management

Won’t let you cancel if you aren’t able to come in. Tried calling in to cancel, I was told to send in a letter requesting cancelation (guess we’re in the 19^th century). I did so, and a month later, I’m still being charged! What a ripoff, and I can’t even come in since I moved away.

OMG this gym is sooo great!!! I have belonged to a lot of gyms and this one is tops!
I have literally never seen so many cardio machines… check out my picture. There are like 5 rows of treadmills and 5 rows of ellipticals… literally! For $ 12.99 I would def live without the towel service and classes. I am currently just testing it out with a groupon. Location is great, in a nice strip mall (wait, is that an oxy moron? lol)
right next to Jewel and Boston Market.

Been working out here for the past 6 months and I can’t seem to figure out what the staff does. The locker rooms are clean most of the time but last week it was a disaster. 3 employees chatting away with each other as the showers were very dirty. I’ve never seen anyone cleaning the locker rooms and when you do need help from the staff it’s always a bother.
Moral of the story you get what you pay for. I’m moving on to a new gym. I can’t believe it has taken me this long.

I have belonged to so many gyms over the years, and to me, cleanliness is probably the most important factor. This gym takes it to the next level — the employees are always cleaning, cleaning, cleaning. Sanitizing wipe containers are everywhere and they are always full and ready to be used. I have belonged to Zip-​Waukegan since they first opened after being a member at the Rec Plex for over 10 years. If you want the pool, sauna, basketball courts, etc., a higher priced gym might be worth it, but if you want to just exercise for an hour everyday, ZIp is the place. Very cheerful and friendly staff. Just added personal training and the young guy seems nice and knowledgeable. Wide age-​range of people joining and everyone seems comfortable — from the younger 20 year-​olds to the people in their 50’s and 60’s. Getting more popular and more crowded but it’s so big that you can still get on any cardio equipment you want to. I would recommend this place to anyone. Speaking to the previous comment — I don’t think it is up to Zip when they say that you must cancel before the 15^th of the month to not get charged for the following month — I think that is the bank’s rule. No contracts and minimal sign-​up fees — really, there is absolutely no down-​side to joining this gym.

You get what you pay for. People dropping weights all the time. Person lost a shoe on the treadmill. Person tried sneaking in without a pass, it’s 12 bucks a month. Go run around outside. Also I don’t know why people bring there gym bags inside. Lastly I saw guy chewing on a cigar

I have been a member at Zip FItness for almost a year now and I love it. The place is as immaculate now as it was the day it opened. They have plenty of machines so there really is never a wait to get your workout on and the staff is awesome. They always greet me when I walk in and say good bye when I leave and they always make me feel welcome. If you are thinking of joining I would hughly recommend it. You will not be disappointed!

$ 12.99 a month, no contracts, 14 tv screens, a very extensive weight section and is perfectly located in a nice little strip mall… and let me not forget to mention that its a unisex fitness center. All are welcome and none are refused. I think i also read that you can attend even if you’re under 18! I guess that’ll work till they get their first lawsuit, but anyway. lol
It’s extra simple to sign up, there are no hidden fees anywhere with this place. You walk in tell them you want to exercise and pay your money. Its so hassle free they almost make it impossible for you not to exercise there!
If you’re wondering why its $ 12.99 a month that’s a simple answer. They don’t have any fancy extras. There aren’t any saunas, swimming pools, running tracks (like at Bally’s) or juice bars. This place is as basic as it gets, and i cant fault them for any of this.
I’m glad i found about Zip and joined this center. I first checked out L. A fitness and they were quoting me something like $ 40 something a month. That probably wouldn’t have been a problem but i don’t live here in Lake county anymore. I live in L. A and ill be back and forth a lot due to my mother’s illness.
I cant thank the owners of this establishment enough for making fitness an obtainable goal on so many levels for a lot of people. For that alone they deserve 5 stars. I took off one star because they dont offer classes, but then again they’d probably have to go up on the prices also.
Lets just say I’m a satisfied customer and wouldn’t think twice about recommending Zip fitness to anyone wanting to reach their fitness goals!
