I’ve been coming here for almost five years and I’ve never been disappointed. The food is great, the service is friendly and attentive, and prices are reasonable. My one complaint would be the décor — it definitely isn’t the prettiest restaurant in town. But, perhaps that is part of the charm. Today, I asked for something not on the menu… a Shrimp Torta. Not only did they accommodate me, they raised the bar. ITWASEXCELLENT! The sandwich had great flavor and an overly generous portion of shrimp. I typically don’t ask for specially prepared items, but I’m glad I did. Thank you!

Tasty authentic Mexican food. Specialty are the shrimps and ceviche tostadas. Mediocre customer service and restaurant really needs some investment on the structure, not to mention, parking lot — is full of potholes.

No bueno. I was expecting a much higher quality than what I received. I had the enchiladas and was very disappointed. The beans were almost grayish purple, like from a cheap can. The best part was the rice and even that wasn’t impressive. Service was so so. Won’t be going back.

Everything in the place was sticky, even the food. A chicken burrito that was the consistency of wallpaper paste, with a slice of processed cheese melted atop. Completely flavorless and uninspired. You could toss a rock in this neighborhood and hit a better Mexican restaurant.

Um. Not impressed. Not even a little. Yeah, it’s Mexican owned, operated and there’s only a minimal presence of English in the place. Univision on the tv. Spanish language posters on the walls. By all indications, this should have been great. But I guess are lousy cooks in Mexico, too. And the meal they made us here was just not good. How do you screw up a burrito? I mean, really? The chicken was tasteless and sticky; «Wallpaper paste» were the words my dining companion was finally able to utter. Lake County, Illinois is home to so many wonderful little authentic taqueria and carniceria. This is not one of them.
