This place is such a little hole in the wall and it is amazing! They have the best ceviche that I have ever had. The ceviche has that perfect combination of salt and lime… Paired with a nice crispy tostada and some Tamazula hot sauce and it just makes for the perfect bite. They also have the best fried red snapper and sopa de mariscos. They also make a great michelada. This place is small and seats fill up quick but their other location on Lewis Ave has more seating and a more expanded menu.

Wen there once and walked out after I asked if they have burritos and was told no. Now how does an authentic Mexican restaurant not serve burritos.

Awesome hole in the wall restaurant with authentic Mexican restaurant. They specialize in tacos, seafood, and ceviche! The service is quick but impersonal. Try not to get offended. The food is great!

This is one of the best seafood restaurants I LOVE! I’ve been coming to this place since I was a child & the ceviche is still on point!

For authentic Mexican tacos, tortas, and fish you have to go to Chicago or Mexico to get anything better. Friendly waitstaff that pointed me in a the right direction for some great grub. For me I got their special torta which was their play on a Cubano sandwich called the Torta Cubano. It starts with a fresh bolillo sandwich roll. Stacked with pork tenderloin, beef, more pork, and chicken I think. This is a sandwich to satisfy any appetite. I could only handle one half of this delicious beast and it made a perfect leftover lunch. The wife got the fried whole fish. Cooked perfectly and well seasoned with a great fried crust. Our friends all opted for the al pastor tacos which were huge and were said to be amazing. Worth the drive to or if you are in town it is a must stop for great authentic Mexican.

Cute little place we found accidentally during lunch. Fast service as the food we ordered was delicious! I gave it 4 stars only because there was some difficulty with language with te waitress and i had to keep getting up and trying to tell the other super busy waitress what we wanted and they didn’t have chicken or Spanish rice but overall it was really good and Id go back!

I’ve been to Taqueria Guererro twice with co-workers, and sent a few people here. The menu is somewhat limited, but the food that is offered is fantastic! The first time I went with my husband, my boss, and my boss’s husband, everyone but my boss got tacos, and they were delicious. I tend to only get steak tacos at mexican restaurants, and these were some of the best I have had in a very long time. My boss got a torta, which was enormous, however, despite it’s size it did not make it home(she took part of it with her to go, it didn’t last the trip). She also got their horchata, which she said was wonderful, and got a refill before leaving. The second time I went everyone got tacos. They were just as delicious as the first time. We also had their guacamole which is superb, tastes just like the stuff we make fresh at home(not too smooth or chunky, and good spice). It served with tostadas and limes to squeeze on them, instead of chips. The vibe of the restaurant was a little divey but totally worth it. The service and food completely make up for the ambiance. I would highly recommend trying this place out if you are in the area.

Taqueria Guererro is my favorite. The one in downtown is the best. Has a unique flavor. They have the Caldito«cure of a hangover» as a lot people say. The staff is great specially Lupe

Taqueria Guerrero is by far the best taqueria in Waukegan. The town is full of Mexican restaurants however none of them live up to TG. TG is a hole in the wall place that can easily be missed and is in walking distance from the Lake County Jail(pretty sure that is not an attribute!). I’ve been going to TG since I was a kid and my parents tell me that in the early 90’s this was the only Mexican place in Waukegan. Funny enough I usually don’t go to TG for their tacos but for their seafood. My favorite is the ceviche, the BEST I’ve ever had. You’ll have a hard time not eating more then one! Their coctel de camarones is also delicious and the wonderful thing is everything is made fresh. I live in Chicago now but I go home often and try to hit up TG as often as possible. If you are ever in the Gurnee/Waukegan visiting a jailbird(no judgment) or doing the Six Flags/Gurnee Mills bit take a 15 minute drive to Taqueria Guerrero!

Much of the menu here consists of seafood, and from what I’ve seen, it looks really good. However, we tend to stick with takeout of the steak and BBQ pork tacos. I really really like Mexican food, and of all the tacos I’ve stuffed in in the last 35 or so years, these are the best. There is no shortage of Mexican places in Waukegan, but this is the place we go to when we want tacos.
