DONOTEATHERE! Crab smelled like ammonia. Even after we told waitress, she asked if we would like to take home. Also tried to bill is for the bad dish. Unbelievable. Not even a 1 star is deserved. Beware. I’d rather eat a sheet of lined school paper.

My family and I come here Weekly! The pros are that they serve extremely good food served in large portions, cons are dirty bathrooms and cleanliness but the food definitely makes up for it. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to other people,

Really great food. I do not speak Spanish, had no problems ordering the food there. Wait staff was very friendly and accommodating. Presentation was excellent and portions were generous. Most definitely will visit again.

The food was good. Nice presentation of the plate. It wasnt too expensive either which you see a lot with seafood places. I love seafood and they did well with it. thats about where the positives end though. The waitress was not great we had to flag her down for everything! It wasn’t busy in the restaurant unless you count the fact that she was busy talking. The place itself could use a good cleaning. It wasn’t dirty enough to make me leave but it certainly wasn’t clean enough for me to enjoy my stay. Overall i was not super impressed with this place. If the food was faster to come it would be a nice carry out place but thats the extent of it. I would suggest someplace else if possible.

Food was good but not great. They need to be a little cleaner and improve on their customer service. If you love seafood this place will be a good spot to come out for lunch. Great tips on ordering one plate for 2, they serve large plates that are really for 2 people if you get side orders. It’s a bit loud because they split it into a bar which I think is kind of cool.

Ok I have been there twice now and I work in the industry so I am not usually one to complain as I know how it is… However the first time I went here I had ordered a fillet with garlic butter sauce. I received a whole fish with head… I tried to explain that this is not what was ordered or wanted and she told me I was wrong! I asked to have it replaced and she told me that this was my fault so I will have to pay for it all! I was shocked to say the least. The second time I went I ordered the fillet again and had my boyfriend translate it for me so I knew I would get the right thing and when it came out it was swimming in grease. The fish at McDonald’s was higher quality. It literally mushed to a(slightly smelly) pile of slimy mess. I didn’t want to complain but my boyfriend tries it and said something for me as he was horrified. The server said that there was nothing wrong and she didn’t want to bring me something else because I just won’t like it!!! I could not believe it. I ordered just a plain price of grilled fish and garlic on top. I got another price of fried mess. I was done. I was charged for it all and had eyes rolled at me. I will never go back!

just had dinner there last night. I had the seafood paella and my wife had shrimp with rice. be forwarned. the portions were huge. we had enough for 4. the paella was excellent. not your classic spanish paella. but mexican. had a bit of a kick, which I personnally like. my wifes was also excellent. the appetizer that the brought out was a deep fried refried bean pastry. really good. this place is truelly mexican. it is a little dumpy when you first walk in. dont let that hold you back. be prepared for some wait time. nothing moves fast on mexican time. but the food was well worth it. I took off a star soley due to the mariachi band playing to loud. was cool but when there are 3 guys playing and singing right next to you in a tight space. it gets a little loud.

Too loud, Not a family environment at all! the food was mediocre, they should worry more about the cleanliness and the appearance of the place.

Good, but not outstanding. I usually dont get hung up on décor or location(only the food is important), but this place is challenging. It’s in a rough section of town, it’s attached to a liquor store, the inside is somewhat tacky, and it had a funny and unpleasant smell the night I was there. With all things concidered, the place didn’t give me a positive feeling about sanitation. But based on the Unilocal reviews, I decided not to turn around and find someplace else. The waitress was nice, but didnt speak much English and the beer was warm. It was also served is a warm glass with some type of funky brown salt on the rim which didn’t suit my taste. I will say that the Octopus Ceviche and the chips were pretty good. I’ve survived meals in Mexico City, so I guess I’ll survive this experience.

First of all I despise Unilocal! As a business owner they have hurt my business by only posting negative reviews and filtering all the good ones. This restaurant was so amazing I had to review it. We were here visiting my son as he graduates the navy a academy and SIRI recommended it. When we pulled in thus and was so mad at me because he didn’t, Ike the looks of it. It’s in a bad neighborhood and he wanted to run. When the food came he apologized and we were amazed by the quality and taste. I would definitely come back!

So this place is not in the best area, it’s décor isn’t the best, the bar to the side of it is obnoxiously loud, but the Food is soooo dang good, I keep going back. It is expensive, but the spices they use are just right. The service isn’t great either– but like I said, their food is delicious!

I was kind of skeptical to try this place because there was only one review(I’m Unilocal spoiled), but I am so glad I did.(Thanks MarYtierra P.) It’s pretty deep in Waukegan, and is easy to miss. The atmosphere is pretty rinky dink, but the food makes up for it. Don’t be scared when you see the expensive prices on the menu — each seafood dish can easily feed two people. We didn’t know that, so we ordered way too much food. For three of us, we each had horchata, seafood stew for 2, seafood paella, and the octopus ceviche. First off — this was my first time having horchata, and holy crap they make it awesome here. My new goal is to find awesome horchata places here in NY! Anyway, the seafood stew was loaded — LARGE chunks — mussels, clams, octopus, shrimp, crab legs, full Maryland crabs. The flavor was amazing. However, the seafood seemed either frozen or old — fresh shrimp and crab meat comes right out of the shell… Here, they fell apart into pieces and were a pain to extract. I’m not going to be too critical about it because, it’s the Midwest… the prices would be way more ridiculous if they had fresh seafood shipped everyday. The seafood paella, I actually ate as leftovers the second day because we couldn’t finish half the food the first night. And let me tell you, it was pretty damn good — the rice absorbed all the flavors overnight. The octopus ceviche was super flavorful, and had a crap ton of octopus. But it is a bit pricey…$ 18 for a large goblet full. I probably would skip this next time. It was a hefty bill — $ 90 before tip. But, technically $ 90 provided 3 people with 2 meals… Do yourself a favor and give this place a try, but make sure to share the entrees!

I love Mexican style seafood and by far this is the best place in lake county. Okay so Briza Azul is located next to a liquor store and inside it’s not much to look at either. However, the food here is great! The prices are average for seafood. I’ve had several things here throughout the years and they all been good but I just LOVE the Camarones Al Mojo(shrimp in garlic/butter sauce), they never disappoint, I highly recommend them!!! Also the Coctel de Camaron y Pulpo is delicious! It’s like a cold tomato based seafood soup with your choice of(shrimp, octopus, oysters…) as well as onion, jalapeños, cilantro and avocado.

Took the family here for a seafood feast celebrating my son’s birthday. We started with the hot oyster, seafood and cheese stuffed appetizer, sort of like a mexican version of oyster’s rockefeller. Excellent! The wife got the shrimp fajitas. Although she was turned off by the heads still on the shrimp, she did agree it was mighty tasty. The best was the red snapper the boy got. I went for the seafood mix in a giant bowl. Plenty of leftovers for the next day. It’s a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. The owner even seranades you from his organ in the bar area. Next time I’m in I have to get the courage to try the shrimp diablo. From the outside it doesn’t look like much, but the food is great. They also offer traditional mexican dishes, but they really specialize in seafood.
