Old Victorian Farmhouse Bed & Breakfast

This review covers our attendance at a Murder Mystery Party hosted at the Farmhouse. The home was beautiful and filled with antiques including two racks full of period hats. When we arrived we were ushered into a parlor for wine and cheese, but we only got to drink the wine as there was not much time before dinner and much of the time was taken up with the reading of character descriptions. Dinner was served at a richly decorated table, but some of the food was cold and just OK and dessert was only a plate of cookies and coffee.
I went there with a group of friends and only half of our group were given rolls to act out. Being in character is our favorite part of participating in MM Parties, When we registered we were told we would receive our rolls two weeks before the party, so when I found out I would only be watching, it was a little disappointing.
But it was nice to meet new people and the night was not a total bust. If you enjoy a good sleuth, it’s an enjoyable night, but if you enjoy acting you may want to let them know you want a part or you will just be watching others play the game.

This is THE best B&B I have ever stayed at and I’ve travelled around the world along with staying at B&B in Napa and Monterey California. Sherry did an amazing job capturing the country old charm with amazing detail to design and yet provides the convenience of modern facilities like a jacuzzi, satellite tv, wi fi and air conditioning. The 1930’s piano was incredibly in tune with well kept keys and it only adds to the homey feeling with her delicious family style breakfast with adorable poodle «Romeo» watching nearby. A short trip to the quaint village of Long Grove with so many cute shops will leave tourists and city dwellers wanting to come back. Bravo Sherry Bravo!

My mother and sister came out in Sept for my daugters first birthday, we needed extra room, and felt they would be more comfortable staying down the street from us at this cute little BB. We saw the BB on Chicagos Best, and thought it would be a nice experience considering that they have never stayed at a BB. My mothers English is not the best, and at first she was a little unsure about not staying at a traditional hotel. The owner put her at ease, and my mother completely enjoyed her stay so much, that now she prefers something small, and unique like this BB. She also could not stop talking about what a lovely breakfast was served. Thanx for giving them something to remember.

This place is GREAT! Just went this past weekend with my bff 4 a murder mystery dinner sat. nite. We stayed in the serenity cove room that has 2 twin beds and it was so cute! The owner was so nice and accomodatin 2 us & the other guests there. The dinner was delicious and plentiful! We were actually characters in the murder mystery so we all dressed up for our parts. It was such a unique experience. We had a great time and felt very comfortable. The breakfast the next day was delicious too! She made some type of coffe cake that was nothing I’ve ever had before & it was FANTASTIC! She even made us homemade cookies to take home. Great place to relax!

I have been to business meetings at this wonderful bed and breakfast, because I live in the area.
Sherry, the owner is wonderful! Each guest room is elegant and unique.
This is located close to the wonderful tourist town of Long Grove with loads of unique shops and events. And a plus for an animal lover like me, animals are welcome.
