I order the Ruben. I received my sandwich and it had 2 extremely thinly sliced pieces of pastrami on each half of the sand which and barely any sauerkraut. I brought it back up and the person who looked like a manager says«we measure ¼ pound for every sandwich». I looked at the sandwich then back and her and she did not ask if I prefer anything else. Worst Ruben ever!!!

the coffee here isn’t anything extraordinary but it was okay. The service is horrible. All the employees are sitting around talking to each other while they’re taking orders and preparing food and nobody’s really focus on the line or how the how long a customer Waits. I waited 15 minutes in line before I left without ordering. I came back 2 hours later only to wait 25 minutes for my coffee to be prepared 25 minutes for my coffee to be prepared. I was tempted to leave but I had ordered for coffees for friends of mine. While I was ordering the three employees were sitting work gossiping and talking I must themselves as if I didn’t even exist. Don’t go to this place unless you feel like being treated as a sore thumb

I highly recommend Mackenzie Fullmer from Second Street Café for catering any event and cake design. I have been able to receive her assistance for the following: *College Commencement Reception *Day Workshop *Lunch Conference *My Wedding I had sandwiches, salads, desserts and drinks served for the commencement, workshop and conference; it was a success. For my wedding, we had a cake taste test in advance with Mackenzie who had an array of cake selection. We opted to have different layers for our cake and selected four different choices. My favorite is red velvet. I have uploaded some photos of my wedding cake for you to view. Hope this helps.

Horrible service. The blender was broken and out of all the boba tea tea flavors. My friend ordered an acai bowl and they took his money only to then give him a refund because of there broken blender

I’ve come early on a weekday for breakfast and the coffee and food is just ok. I came In today on a Saturday for some breakfast at about 1130, and #1 they don’t serve oatmeal on Saturdays. Lame. I’ve asked for oatmeal on a weekday and they said they haven’t had it either, get your act together. #2 they don’t serve breakfast after 10:30. Lame. It’s Saturday, brunch, and your Unilocal advertises brunch. Which means breakfast items as well. Definitely won’t come back.

Really good sandwiches, the bread smells so amazing and taste so great. Amazing flavors, it’s a small place with a big nice bite.

Their food is good but the few times that I have gone, their service has bee terrible. That is the only reason I haven’t gone back. I was there with a few friends sitting down at a table while we figured out what to order and suddenly a lady that worked there said that we had to either order or leave because we were taking up space. We ended up leaving. I thought it was rude considering that we were going to order but oh well.

First off Second street café is probably the only café in downtown Watsonville. They have really good drinks and quiche and nice atmosphere. But I had a bad experience the last time I went here. It was 11am and I ordered a breakfast burrito, the cashier asked the manager if they were still serving breakfast and the manager said no. I was disappointed because I went there for breakfast and it was only 11. I ordered a bacon and broccoli quiche instead. After about 5 minutes an older couple came in and ordered breakfast, without hesitation the manager told them he could make them breakfast because they were ‘special’ or something along those lines. I then waited 10 minutes for my quiche to come… but it was served to the people who came in 5 minutes after me. I was annoyed, I waited a few more minutes and my quiche came. It was the wrong quiche! They served my bacon quiche to someone else and gave me a sweet potato quiche(hopefully the other customer wasn’t vegetarian). Regardless I was annoyed and disappointed with second street café. I don’t know If I’ll go back there anytime soon.

Gem of a café! Home made sweets and home made well everything! The staff is pleasant and even remember my name. What more can you ask for?! The most notable item on the menu is the Cobb salad. It contains fresh lettuce, tomatoes, eggs, and generous helpings of chicken and bacon. The best dressing to pair it with is the homemade ranch. Mmm Mmm! I have tried the hot sandwiches and was equally impressed with the quality and freshness. The place is nice and clean but the art work is sort of amateurish. I give them mad props for the reggae playlist. Don’t forget to check in and redeem your free sweet treat!

As you first enter this café, you are greeted by the aromas of fresh brewed coffees from local coffee companies. Quickly followed by a melodious & warm«hello«from the the friendly staff. Then you find yourself taking a long deep breath as the redolent aromas of the ‘daily lunch specials’ and the savory offerings of deserts and breakfast fuel your appetite and merciless tease your awaiting stomach. The generous portions of dishes offered, coupled with exceedingly fresh and masterly crafted recipes, keep me coming back to this Watsonville ‘gem of a café’!

A good option for lunch in downtown Watsonville. The have great sandwiches and fresh salads. The salads used to be larger but they are using a new smaller biodegradable box. It’s still a full meal especially if you add meat for $ 2 more. The place is clean with plenty of tables. They also have free WiFi. They have art work from local artists, which changes regularly, for purchase.

It’s refreshing to find non-corporate chain coffee shops, and especially in Watsonville. Nice to see this Community Expending. Was my first time in here today, Really liked the décor, and how Comfortable the setting was. The chocolate Brioche was Delicious, and i like that you have the option to have it warmed up, but need to ask them. My only disappointment was the Customer Service, it wasn’t as inviting as the Coffee shop itself is. Robots would be friendlier. I might give this place another try. Maybe…

It seems only fair to finally write a review for my favorite lunch spot. I love this place, and I try to get here as often as possible. My go-to lunch is a tuna melt with a spinach salad side salad with balsamic dressing. The tuna melt here is amazing, they put pepperoncinis in it, and it really makes the salad. The spinach salad has walnuts and blue cheese. This is just a great place to go for lunch! They have free wifi, so I’ve been known to sit and do work here while drinking coffee for an hour or two. They also have outside seating when the weather is nice. I find the staff to be really friendly, as in, they try to remember your name and your order. Call ahead if you’re going during the lunch rush(12−1pm), because the line can be tough! But that’s the price for a successful business in the heart of Watsonville!

I am writing the review because my sister is to kind to do it herself. My sister bought a custom wedding cake, his/her cake and cupcakes. The day of her wedding only the cake was delivered with no cupcakes or his/her cake. To top it off the cake had the wrong filling and bread. The following day my sister contacted the owner who was the one who originally took her detailed order for her very special day. The owner was justifying her mistakes. Anyhow, my sister did receive a full refund for the cupcakes only. It wasn’t about the refund to my sister, but the lack of professionalism of this bakery/coffee shop. The his/her cake ended up being a 1 year anniversary cake made with the correct filling and bread(I hope they share a slice with me) :) The wedding cake did not taste good. It might have been because it wasn’t the flavor my sister nor I chose. I hope no other bride has to experience what my sister did on what was suppose to be a memorable special day.

I came for the Thursday special! Sweet potato and avocado sandwich with jack, red onions, sprouts, and homemade honey mustard dressing. Unilocal got me a free chocolate chip cookie and man are they good! I’d actually pay for it if it wasn’t for Unilocal Can’t wait to see what next weeks specials are

Service is very poor. Negative vibe. I requested a different cup of coffee and the young guy with dark hair, who usually brings your food to table, acted very sketchy when replacing my coffee. He covered himself in that very sketchy way, where you cannot see what he’s doing to your coffee… And I paid $ 2 plus 20% tip for that coffee… which I couldn’t bring myself to drink. Awful person. Very sketchy!!! And the girl who took my order, seemed new, but again, my fourth time coming here and again, no service with a smile or a hint of cordial respect upon approaching the customer. Not everything is bad, there are some good sandwiches and some good coffee, somewhat over priced, nonetheless, the service I just do not understand why the poor attitude from their employees… It truly befuddles me. I gave this place a good several opportunities, giving it a good benefit of the doubt and they lost my business thanks to their employees attitude and poor customer service. Negative vibe all around!

This is my first time here and I have to say it is quite yummy. We had the small Mocha with the Mexican Chocolate. Don’t forget to check in on Unilocal,if you spend $ 7 you get a free mini cupcake or cookie! I was pretty dissapointed when I found out they were out of the mini cupcakes, but i will be back again. The café is located right next to the courthouse and parking can be located behind the building between 2nd street and 3rd.

I’m not a huge consumer of sweet treats, but when I do indulge, it has to be worth the sugar. I’ve been know to chuck a dry, disappointing cookie in the trash. Or like the cranky critic in ratatouille, when presented with a second hand almond croissant, I don’t bother to swallow.(Insert joke here. «That’s what she said» is lazy. You can do better) Second Street café is one if the places I can go to get a non-regrettable treat, I’m happy to say. :) Today– dulce de leche bar. Sweet but not too sweet. Chocolate, just enough. With a perfect cappuccino breve. Aaaaaaah. And they really hit the spot with the comfy coffee shop ambience. Good mix of squishy chairs and business-like tables. Good breakfast sandwiches too. I’ll be back. Clearly. Again. And again. Ps– met the lovely owner Mackenzie today. She’s a good egg! :)
