I’ve been enjoying this great Mexican food for 40 years. I know it’s changed hands and endured family changes, but it’s one of my go to places, now that I’m back in the area. The food is some kind of cross between Mex and Mex– American, but I know this– Monica does a great job in the kitchen. This place is clean and what I really like– The food is clean. Sopes, Rellenos and the Camerones Tostadas are my favs !! Great job– Thanks.

My husband ate here 30 years ago. Still talks about the hand made tortillas he ate every Sunday morning with menudo. Best menudo ever as well. So I AM a fan vicariously.

There is not a better Sope in all of NorCal. The 5-star rating is based on both this achievement and La Fogata’s incredible tailspin recovery after the last few years of mediocrity. Welcome back my friend. My best friend from first grade(Tioga John) and I would tell our families we were going to get ice(«Ice Run») and belly up next to the cash register where we could almost reach the beer and more importantly keep an eye on the kitchen. The moms who cooked back then did an outstanding Carne Asada burrito.

The devil must have cooked the food himself, it’s hotter than heck. Be prepared to consume buckets of water. However the handmade tortillas were fantastic. Also, avoid the French fries..

This place has some awesome Mexican dishes. My favorites include their chilaquiles, Chile rellenos and carne asada sopes. They even make fresh squeezed orange juice. Loved coming here for breakfast when studying at UCSC. Well worth the drive. Their prices are also very cheap.
