Well now… Three items to review. The first, and best, was the crab cakes, which were pretty tasty – there was some actual crab in there, which was good. But for $ 15, not remotely a good deal – I can get comparable crab cakes at Earthfare for around half that price. The stuffed mushrooms weren’t particularly good, just very average. And the eggplant Parmesan with pasta looked ugly; it tasted a little better than it looked but it was too salty and didn’t sit well with us. The pasta was generic and dull. The restaurant itself is nicely kept, but the food just isn’t there. EDIT: Next day followup: Felt sick the next day, consistent with having eaten stuff with nitrates. Translation: they’re using cheap junk ingredients filled with preservatives. And charging customers like it’s made fresh. Gross. Just gross.

We’ve been to Dominick’s twice now and I don’t have anything bad to say about the restaurant. Because the food is served family style I was able to try about six different entrée options and they all were quite tasty, well prepared and well presented. The location we were at was a bit loud and the ambiance wasn’t great but I believe the food and service make up for it all.

We asked our server«What’s good?» because we like to see what servers say when we ask this question. She stated«Get the crab cakes. I’m from Maryland and I think they’re great!». I went into a long conversation about my family being from Baltimore and let her know if she thought they were great, I had to try them. Melanie, I’m sure inspired by our Chesapeake banter, also wanted to try them as well, knowing full well I would not under any circumstances share my crab cakes no matter how small her request may be. Some things, after all, are sacred. At Dominick’s the portions aren’t large — they are GARGANTUAN! The four of us split half of a salad for starters. The entreés are all available as either a half order or a full order. A half order, you’ll be taking some home for the next day. A full order, you might be eating for a few days. When they chose«Little Italy, Lotta Food» as their moniker, they were NOT kidding. The crab cake entreé is served with broccoli and angel hair pasta. The crab cakes were awesome. There’s just no way to describe in words, how good the crab cakes really were. Although I never lived in Maryland, my family being from Baltimore, I was raised with a crab mallet in one hand. That being said, I thought the broccoli was a little undercooked and the angel hair pasta was dry and bland. I asked from some meat sauce and that provided some salvation but after you’ve eaten the crab cakes, the thrill is gone and you can hear B.B. King singing it in your head. My advice is to skip any appetizers and save room for dessert. Melanie chose the ice cream dipped in chocolate with a drizzle. I was sold out on the chocolate mousse. You know the dessert is dynamite when you don’t even have a twinge of guilt. Hey, it was worth it. Dominick’s serves Italian food in quantities that would make a glutton happy. If you’re looking for a change, it’s worth a shot and be sure to save room for dessert — it’s a show stealer. Guten appetit!

Service can make or break a restaurant and I have to say the service at this location is not good at all. We were only one of three tables last night and the server acted like we were bothering her until the check came. She had us fill out comment cards at the end of the meal which we turned into the hostess. The server promptly picked them up from the hostess, so I am not sure they were turned in to the manager. I would suggest a box for comments that only the manager can access. On the other hand, the food was outstanding! It is exactly what we would expect from Dominick“s. I will not return to this location, but will go to the other locations or Mirkos in Watkinsville.

Fantastic food, excellently prepared, efficient & pleasant service, generous portions, well priced for the amount and quality of food. After multiple visits we have never had a bad dish. Tasty Lunch specials at prices comparable to fast food places. The garlic or benedino bread, and other appetizers, are super. The Chicken Marsala or Parmesan, Veal dishes, and seafood have all been excellent choices. Surprised to find such a great place, using fresh ingredients in this small town.

I often meet friends at Dominick’s in Watkinsville for lunch and dinner. The food is really good and the service is always so pleasant. They are very generous with portions and the dishes well prepared. The atmosphere is gracious with comfortable seating and the acoustics enable one to have a good conversation with out staining to hear over the crowd. Try Dominick’s in Watkinsvile. I bet you will go back again and again.

This is some of the worst Italian food I’ve ever had. The service was fine but the food was bad at any price. And it was rather expensive. The wine wasn’t served in proper wine glasses but simple water glass. I had veal marsala and it was extremely bland. I will never return for such over priced bland food. McDonald’s is honestly better.

Not worth the time or money. Much better choices in the area. Service was shoddy, food was below average at best and lacked taste, and the prices were much higher than the quality of the food. Overall, waste of a night out. Won’t be taking that friend’s advice again for restaurants.

Well at least they are open. As for food, if enormo portions of inferior food is your thing… go for it. Calamari way too much batter when it requires only a dusting of flour to be light, tender and delicious. But batter and breading is the name of the game here. Lots of breading on eggplant, chicken, you name it. Read: fried. Tomato sauce way too acidic… sort of like cheap pizzeria sauce. Veal? Forgettaboutit… no resemblance to palatable veal which is almost impossible to get in the south — the reason so many restaurants prefer to use pork as a sub… the pork in the south is good, good veal virtually non existent. Bolognese? One thing it is not is any old tomato meat sauce with cream added which is what it is here. But if you think Italian is something like olive garden, then you may think this is Italian so you will like it. Too bad.

We really love Dominick’s because you can choose half or whole portions and no matter which, there is plenty to eat. The restaurant is very pleasant inside and the service is excellent. Oh yeah, the dishes that we have chosen have all been great! My granddaughter loves the mac and cheese and I love the veal parmagiana. The menu is humongous and it is very popular with kids as well as adults. Mia and Popsie

Okay so the bread that comes out with the marinara dipping sauce if awesome, BUT the food not so much. The pasta to me was something that I could I make out of a box at home and make it better. The pasta and the sauce just had NO flavor so I added red pepper flakes and that didn’t even help. So now that brings me to the portions, yes I knew they were going to be huge and that wasn’t the issue. It’s just the price for the amount of food is not really fair when you consider that a box of pasta is 1.20 at the grocery store and then they only put a little sauce on top. I dunno it was just yuck– I really have had better stuff from Kroger.

I wasn’t sure what to expect going to an italian restaurant in Watkinsville but I was pleasantly surprised. I tried the spaghetti and meatballs large portion and I couldn’t believe the serving size. They weren’t kidding when they said it would feed 3 – 4 people. I still managed to eat about half of it and had the rest for leftovers. The sauce was very good and spaghetti was cooked just right. The restaurant looks very clean, as it is in a newer shopping center. The décor and the atmosphere of the restaurant is also pleasant. I will definitely try to make it back to Dominick’s when I’m back in town.

I have been there multiple times. Generally it has been good, tonight it was great. The spinach salad was out of this world. My wife had the eggplant parm, which was fantastic. I had the chicken and sausage casserole, it was steaming hot, perfectly seasoned. I was expecting the chicken to be okay, but they did something to it that made it perfect. –update, returned in November 2012 and the food remains exceptional.

Great food, great service, moderate pricing. I was amazed to find that pasta could taste this good without«swimming» in sauce. At first, I was disappointed to find the pasta with only a very light coating of sauce, then I found that it was great! The«house» bread and salad are very, very good.
