We love Phish and now we know Phish loves us. Why else would they have thrown us such a banger party with eight sets of music to set our hearts aflame? I’m grateful to the band for their decision to host their ninth camp-out festival at a venue accustomed to handling up to 100,000 race fans at a time– for once, there were enough bathrooms and water stations, and the campgrounds were nice overall. I’m glad we ended up in South Dakota at the far edge of the grounds, where it was quieter and greener than closer to the racetrack/stage. Biggest. Ball. Ever.

Big Ball Jam… WHAT!!! Also, funny that Blake references Day 2, set 2. While I can do nothing but concur as a general matter, I would say that mine was fully melted on Day 3, both sets. Though Saturday Golden Age-Caspian-Piper-Tweezer is the goods, there is no doubt about that. I guess I’m a Waves/ASIHTOS/1st Tube with fireworks kind of girl at heart, though. But please also check out Friday night’s Simple. The venue was excellent for a festi — much more relaxed(traffic/driving logistics) than northeast venues of lore. Love the addition of a farmer’s market and so many tasty food stands(including lots of delish vegan options and the pinball lounge with tasty non-beer drink options). I’ve never written a Unilocal review for a Phish show… feels kind of strange, in a good kind of way.
