I’m a regular at this spot for good reason. Perfect home cooked meals. The fried chicken is second to none! Awesome value! Super friendly staff.

Service was very slow and the waitress was rude and disinterested in helping us. Food was mediocre at best.

I am sorry I cannot be less than honest in rating this restaurant so low. On our way to South Haven we stopped for a early dinner. There were 3 tables being occupied. We gave our order to the server.(She did not write it down). She said I will put order in right away. She brought our drinks and disappeared. We had small salad bar and waited and waited. No food. Other people came in and were served right away; not with our server. Thirty minutes after first being seated I got the attention of our server. She came over and said«have you been served?» I said«yes by you». She said oh I will see what happened. Off she went and returned saying it will be ready in 5 – 10 minutes. After 10 minutes she returned with food. Said she was sorry. She would tell the manager and we would be given a discount. Didn’t happen!!’ We ate only ½ the food. Chicken fried steak dinner average. I told the cashier about the experience. She knocked off price of one coke. The manager came over and was very nice and apologized.

If you are local, this is a great place, but you already know that. If you are passing through, stay away at all costs. Service at our table was slow and disinterested, unlike that at the tables right next to us. Our breakfast came last and it was cold.

This place is your standard roadside diner. We recently dined here while in town to camp at the local KOA. We got the breakfast buffet. The price was good and the food was your standard breakfast items. I wish I would have ordered off the menu. I think I saw some better looking dishes at other tables. This isn’t the kind of place to pop in for a quick bit. Plan to be here for a while

My family was driving from Michigan to Illinois for a family event. Driving down the highway, we saw a sign for Waffle House, which none of us had ever been to. When we took the Waffle House exit, we saw that it had closed down. So I grabbed my phone and looked for a good place for breakfast. Unilocal informed me that Mill Creek Charlies was just a couple of exits away, so we got back on the highway and headed there. I’m from New Jersey, where the diner is king. Mill Creek Charlies reminded me of a diner, with the seating, paying at the counter, and breakfast all day. Breakfast all day was great because we had been expecting waffle house, but it was slightly after the time most go for Breakfast. So we sit and check out the breakfast menu. I decide on an egg dish, my sister got an omelet, and my sister in law got biscuits and gravy. Later, we realized there was a lunch buffet going on. We probably would have tried that out, had we known. When I ordered my food, I was offered the option of «american fries’ or ‘hash browns.’ Thinking it was their take on «french fries’/‘freedom fries’ I went for the hash browns, but later learned I was incorrect in my assumption. American fries are sliced potatoes, whereas hash browns are shredded. Both are breakfast foods. The portions were perfect and the food is well priced. Not too much of anything.

Okay so there was a decent wait for the food but they were really busy with the after church rush and everything so I give them a pass. The food was excellent. Everything was hot and fresh and that I give them five stars for. The staff was friendly and even allowed to sit were we wanted even tho they were very busy. When we went to leave and got our take home plates they forgot my friends pancakes and we had to wait 10 minutes for those. And the sprite was soda water or something. Definitely not sprite. But I liked the food and hospitality so I will be back.

Stumbled on to this place looking for breakfast. The omelette was huge so my wife and split it. It was also one of the best omeletts we have ever had. The staff was very pleasant and attentive as well.

This place reminds me of a little mom & pop shop that use to be in my hometown. I used to love going to that place and getting burgers, sandwiched, onion rings, salad bar, and milk shakes. Nothing fancy, just typical easy and usually fried food(all the stuff kids love). Unfortunately, I’m afraid this is the best this town has to offer, and there isn’t a vegetable or fruit in sight. Not bad food, just not mind blowing.

I give this place five stars because of the manager/owner and his excellent ownership & people skills. :) he was incredibly attentive and friendly to us, including our kiddo. The service was decent, as was our meal(breakfast). It was Memorial Day, so there were loads of people. The manager kept making rounds to greet and check on guests. Much appreciated.

Food was ok. There are a lot of choices on the menu, which makes you wonder how they can focus on a few things. Bacon is very salty. Pie was not homemade… store bought. The service was friendly.

Finally found something for this restaurant! :D I couldn’t get my 3G connection goin’ out in Watervliet and maybe that’s why foursquare wasn’t any help… Anywho! When we go out of town, finding something to eat apart from McDonald’s or Burger King is always a preference but we don’t always find good places.(we once happened upon a restaurant touting authentic german food… it was terrible: c) We were making our way back to Michigan from a day in Chicago, Illinois and were barely into Michigan itself again before we decided if we didn’t stop for dinner now, IHOP would be our only choice(not harpin’ on IHOP, they’re amazing but we wanted somethin’ a little different) Mill Creek Charlie’s was practically empty when we arrived. There was one other table that had guests dining there but apart from that, it was empty.(We didn’t realize until later that we had arrived five minutes before closing but they didn’t even mention it! Awesome cos everywhere else within ten miles was closing as we ate, ^-^) Very clean, very straightforward, cool from the AC and the lighting was nice, not too harsh, not too dark, just right. Our waitress, Caralyn, was very sweet and excellent at what she does. I couldn’t recommend a better waitress in the world at this point! Prompt, great with memory, considerate and aiming to please. Fountain drinks tasted great, not watered down or odd in any way. I get some places that completely destroy the flavor of Diet Pepsi but here, it was perfect. :3 We had mozarella sticks for appetizers and one of my sisters, who is also crazy about mozarella sticks said they were an A+ and she wanted to come there again.(If only 200 some miles was an easy diner run!) Two of us took part in the soup and salad bar. Everything was clean and fresh. The only downside I had was that the containers were so cold, some of the hard boiled egg bits were a little frozen! xD They had sunflower seeds for the salads as well. If you’re like me, it’s pretty much the cherry on top of a sundae but. a salad sundae. Three out of the six of us ordered burgers and they came as they were ordered: well done. We’re very picky about that: o My mum wanted a broasted chicken dinner but the broaster was on the fritz so she stuck with an order of mozarella sticks and her salad from the salad bar. One of my sisters ordered a buffalo chicken meal which she traded with her dad’s burger because she didn’t realize how spicy it was going to be. :3 I ordered the sweet potato fries and loaded potato skins(cheddar cheese, bacon bits, sour cream on the side). I had to mix and match because I’m gluten intolerant. With that being said, if you prefer a gluten free restaurant or a restaurant that offers gluten free menu options, this could do the trick but they won’t be entrees. It’s mostly picking and choosing a side and an appetizer or foregoing that altogether and heading straight for the salad bar. I won’t knock a good salad! :o Several of us also had coleslaw on the side and you know how restaurants can be with cole slaws. it’s never the same. Some places are too sweet, some places too tangy, so on and so forth. Mill Creek Charlies’ coleslaw was a bit on the sweet side but it was balanced by the tanginess in the dressing. I’ve really no idea how else to describe it. But it was good! The marinara sauce that came with the mozarella sticks was delicious ;_; We took leftover sauce home and we’ve already eaten it. Definitely sad that it’s gone and that they’re over 200 miles away. Oh well. Definitely going back if we’re out that way again! Refills kept coming, pitchers were placed on the table(refills are free, btw ;3) Now, with the food all accounted for, I do want to leave a comment about the restrooms. They’re clean, which is a major deal breaker with me. You could serve the best food in the country but if your restrooms are a huge disaster, I wouldn’t come back. The walls had cute, homey décor on them. Not-too-dim, not-too-bright lighting in the restroom as well. Overall, I’d give them a 10⁄10. And there you have it! I hope you happen upon this review and give Mill Creek Charlie’s a try! I was hoping to find a review or more information on them but I couldn’t and decided, well, I’ll just have to write one up and help someone else out in the future. =)
