I started seeing Zac in September 2015 to address some chronic joint paints, specifically my right knee, my wrists, and my right scapula. A lot of these had bothered me for months or even on-and-off for years. Things I kinda just accepted as normal. I think the body does a good job healing itself but sometimes it gets a bit stuck and needs help, and it seems to try to tell us this through pain. Enter Zac. I’ve seen him about 15 times now. He starts out asking me questions about what’s hurting, and then walks me through specific movements with more questions. Here I think he’s observing and building in his mind an understanding of what’s going on under the skin for my unique situation. He then gets to work using a very focused application of massage, which sometimes requires you to move in sync with him to amplify the work he’s doing. This is deep tissue stuff! He’s especially communicative during this stage and wants you to let him know if the pain is too intense. I say bring it on! The brief bout of(good) pain now will mean less bad pain later. It became quickly clear to me how experienced and knowledgeable he is. My knee pain, for example, was caused by issues throughout my calf muscle all the way to the top of my hamstring. Not much of the problem was at the knee itself! It’s a wonder how everything in the body is connected. He thoughtfully captures notes and does a better job than I do of what was bothering me last time! I have a hard time remembering because he has fixed so much, it’s incredible. If you’re going to a general body massage studio to feel better but are finding that your pains aren’t going away, or if you’re seeking alternatives to surgery or other more serious treatments, I highly recommend giving Zac a shot. He finds and addresses the root causes of pain in the body, and also prescribes functional movements you can do between visits to accelerate the healing. At the very least, he’ll be a reliable second opinion, so if he agrees you need surgery then you have that confirmation. Lastly, I have to say that Zac is one of the few people I know that I gain energy from being around. His personality is perfect for this kind of role. He’s very patient, empathetic, and cares about you becoming pain-free. He is also refreshingly honest and tells you if he thinks you can go longer between visits. That means less appointments for him, so I really respect that he puts honesty before profit.
