Nice local campground. This a fairly large campground located about a 30 minute drive from Omaha. Camped here for a night with friends and enjoyed it. We had a riverside campsite facing west, so you can usually count on some nice sunsets. During the day you will see(and hear!) airboats going up and down the river, but it is nice and quiet at night. The sites are large with a lot of mature trees, and the bathrooms a little dated and dingy, but hey you are camping! You can fish in the river or the ponds/lakes that they have onsite. At the entrance is a small store with ice, firewood, snacks, bait, etc. If you don’t want to rough it, they also have a number of old Union Pacific caboose that have been turned into cabins. Overall a nice little spot nearby to Omaha, so I will be back!

Just a quick word about restrooms. Only two of the loops appear to have shower houses — Cottonwood(newer of the two) and Lakeside /Fawn Meadows area. It appears that only Fawn Meadows has water hookups, most of the other loops are electric only. There are many nice sites along the rivers, I think Lakeside is the nicest, goldenrod the closest to swimming, and Cottonwood is probably best for river access. During the weekends, there is a lot of airboat traffic on the river. It is a little noisy, but not bad. We really had fun here.

Horrible park. Came here for hiking apparently there are trails had a map and went through all the places the map said there were trails. Searched for an hour, found nothing. Don’t waste your time!

I love going to this camp ground. There’s plenty to do and is a great place for pretty much any level of experience camper. I think someone who hasn’t camped much would feel pretty comfortable here. Warning: latrines in general are gross. Unfortunately when we went that was all that was open. It did look like the camp grounds added some nicer bathrooms right next to the old latrines but when we went those were closed. The rangers are kind and unobtrusive. A friend and I took took our nephews and my niece during the week early in the day and we basically had the run of the place it was lovely. I wish the people that go there would be a little cleaner. People leave trash, alcohol bottles, and cigarette butts all over the park and it’s sad to see honestly. The only reason I knocked down a star was because the nicer bathrooms were locked and the trash all over. Otherwise we had a blast!

Sites are nice and clean. Prices are very reasonable and the little store has decent fishing gear and munchies– soft serve ice cream was a hit. Good Ranger presence which deters the creepers — so good for families. You can fish or explore and there are open spaces for frisbee, volleyball, etc… good place to burn weekend with the family without tv(ok, they have electric so we had our Apple TV).

So we get to our campsite and get everything set up to have a good time for a few hours. Then a 30%chance of rain turns into penny size hail so we park our vehicles under the closest trees to soften hail damage. Three fucking times the ranger dicks/dnr come by and tell us to park on the pavement were there is no shelter from the fuckin monsoon/hurricane. Our tents and surroundings neighbor tents have collapse or have been obandoned. They gave more shits about the fucking grass than our safety or more importantly the customer who pays for the campsite and a park pass. Ultimately we left that night not cause of the downpour of the rain storm because we are troopers that were going to tough it out, but because of the assholes running the grounds that gave more importance of the fucking grass than the well being of the customers. I mean it was fucking pouring and all we could resort to was staying in our car under so sort of shelter. I’ve camped at a lot of places in Nebraska/Iowa and this is by far the worse I’ve experienced…
