I am updating this… We used them for a Registry spot for our wedding. What a complete disaster. DONOTDOIT. The idea is great but this store was awful to work with. I called corp to complain they tried to fix the problem but the people in this store just couldn’t figure it out. To be fair I guess the system they have is really really old and hard to use so probably 1 out of 10 employees knows how to work it. But here are some of the things they said to my guests about it. 1. It’s to much work for us to pull up 2. We don’t have a registry 3. I don’t know how 4. You’ll have to wait…(one person waiting an hour. never got it) 5. Do you know how hard it is? These are just plain RUDE responses… I actually went in there myself and asked for a copy they had no idea who I was. The girl did try… just even called a manager who never showed up. After 30mins I said forget about it.

Purchased a washer dryer here 3 years ago and was told how wonderful the $ 100 extended 4-year warranty is. Unfortunately, I have been waiting 4 days for a technician to come look at the broken washer/dryer. I called Home Depot Waterloo and the Appliance manager told me that the Home Depot Warranty has a very difficult time finding local technicians willing to work for the prices Home Depot Warranty is willing to pay, and so it is NOT uncommon for customers to have to wait 5 – 7 business days if not longer to even have a technician look at your appliance. I highly recommend that if you are looking for appliances, you try Sears, Lowe’s or Menards first as my experience with them on appliance repair has been stellar.

We recently bought a house and have found that when it comes to home improvement stores, Home Depot has the most knowledgeable staff. Also, their paint people are phenomenal, and the paint guy even recognized me in Papa Murphy’s once(this is probably because I talk a lot and bought nearly 10 samples for one room.). Prices are usually higher here than Menards or Lowes, but we think the service is better.

Short Version: It’s a pretty decent and clean home improvement store that carries the essentials that a home improvement store should have. The prices are a bit higher than I’d expect, and the employees help is hit-or-miss. However, if you get one of their super-helpful employees, you’ll seriously love your experience. Long Version: Fantastic experience today at The Home Depot over in Waterloo. I started off at Menards as it was closer to me, but after I was told that Menards couldn’t cut the lumber I needed AND they couldn’t special-order the part I needed, I chose to try out The Home Depot and see what went on. The store itself is surprisingly clean. There’s a Lumber area, and they have Lumber carts. They have a small clearance area near the restrooms. Unlike Menards, some of the prices are a bit high, and Home Depot doesn’t seem to offer the«super cheap» doorbusters that Menards offers either. That was slightly disappointing. Employees seemed hit-or-miss. Some of them seemed particularly helpful and really wanted to help while others seemed to be mostly ignoring me. Both versions work fine. However, I did receive different responses from various employees as to whether the store carried things, so that was frustrating.(Turns out that they did carry it!) I wish the employees were on the same page. There was a guy in the Lumber department named Joe who was BEYOND helpful. I came in with some measurements and a general idea of what I wanted done, and he helped me pick out the wood type, explained the differences, and cut it for me. This is something Menards said they just couldn’t do, but Joe had no issue with it. After that, I figured I might as well look into finding a good shelf for my cabinet, and that wood needed to be cut to size as well. I asked a nearby employee if that was something they could do, and she said«definitely not». Okay. Well, I thought I’d check with Joe to be sure. He said it would be no issue at all, and he cut it exactly how I needed it. My review would probably be average at best if it wasn’t for Joe. Looks like the employees are hit-or-miss in helpfulness, but Joe honestly made this somewhere I’ll come back to just for the lumber department because of him!

The things we like about Home Depot are there paint center and their indoor lumberyard. We don’t come here too often it’s not our first choice for home-improvement stores. First off I don’t feel like there as competitive as other home-improvement stores in price. But we have spent a lot of money here over the years. I like their selection of bathroom and floor tile. We bought lots of tile for our home here. My husband took one of those home-improvement classes with them and he thought the tiling one was very helpful. I like their brand of pants and their selection of paint colors. I have always felt that the behr brand of paint is superior. They have a really nice lady who typically works in the paint department who is very efficient and helpful at her job. I think that there lumber is higher price than everywhere else but I do like their indoor lumberyard so if I don’t know exactly what I’m looking for I can walk through it and pick. Plus then I don’t have to Drive around and pick up the lumber and spend extra time doing that. The reason I’m giving three stars is because I feel like their staff is not always very helpful. I feel like I’m always having to search for people to help me and I feel that when I walk by employees they ignore you or avoid you. If their customer service improved I would probably improve my star rating. I will still continue to shop here for the tile I like and the paint I like. Otherwise I will continue to go to my favorite home-improvement store for everything else.
