We love the nachos! Always going to try something else, but end up ordering the nacho. Have gone for years.

Had Trini & Carmens today for the first time. I ordered the burritos which I thought were fantastic. The food is authentic and priced within reason. My father ordered the Chicken Quesadilla and turns out they are actually puffy soft tacos. We all found that to be a little strange, but all in all good food!

The nachos are good the rest of the food I’ve tired has been fairly bland. Friendly service though :/

Server was nice but food was awful. Luke warm and enchiladas were soaked in grease. Also tried taco dinner and no better. Won’t be back.

I’ve been eating here for as long as I can remember! The food is really, really good and very affordable. The staff is always friendly. I always go for the beef nacho or the chimichanga. The cheese they use is phenomenal! I believe they use Munster instead of mozzarella. Exceptional! I do, however wish they would update the décor. It’s a little outdated and kinda dark. So, stop in, grab a nacho and maybe a frozen margarita… the peach is delicious.

Another great dining experience! This place is nothing flashy or fancy. Little worn around the edges but the food is great. One of the few places that knows how to make a Marguerita! Great service too.

This place used to be OK for standard over-cheesed Mex-American food, perfect for servicing the sweatpants and white tennis shoe crowd. A solid 2.5 stars — that’s even knowing about the horrific botulism outbreak that happened here a few decades ago. But I recently walked in on a Sunday and was ready to walk right back out, as I was overcome with a smell that managed to meld wet dog with a hint of mold. The carpet was littered with chip remnants. There was a baby crying in a highchair and the parents failed to even budge their faces from the nacho trough, and one of the toothless locals told my friend to «shut the fuck up,» because he felt my friend was speaking too loudly — hey, my friend is an uncouth asshole, but there is a better way to handle the situation. Anyhow. Waterford stereotypes reaffirmed. I ordered a margarita and it was solid. No complaints. I ate a few chips, and they tasted a bit like stale Marlboro Lights — I’m also fine with that, I suppose. I refrained from ordering an entrée because of the smell — it was just so off putting. On the plus side, the waitress was incredibly kind and dining here gives you an immaculate view of the pristine DixieLand Flea Market — a place that I’m told is the Mecca of NASCAR apparel, rodent droppings, and well-aged hotdogs. Maybe I’ll eat there the next time I’m in this part of town.

Really wanted to like this place, but there are so many reasons not to! Attended a small birthday celebration — good company, not-so-good food. Some people complained about the décor, but that was not an issue for me. The big issue was the smell — walking into the restaurant, it smelled like mildew. We were seated at a booth, and part of the cushion was gone which was a little odd. Nevertheless, I tried to keep an open mind about the food. Service was good, waitress was prompt and the food was delivered to the table pretty quickly. We were served complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were unsalted and appeared to be wet with oil. I tried a few, and they were not great. I thought the salsa flavor was OK, but both the mild and hot salsa had a thick layer of moisture on top. The SO and I were pretty unhappy with our dishes, though the others that attended enjoyed theirs. I had refried beans which were ridiculously salty(ah, that’s where the salt from the chips went!) and spanish rice, which was the best thing I ate there. Leaving the restaurant, I felt queasy and the SO did as well — so much grease and surprisingly little flavor. The others that attended were really happy with their food and drinks, so I suppose this place may have appeal for some.

Solid 3.5 stars for this place. Everything they serve is A-OK. My favorite is the complimentary homemade chips and salsa they bring out. So good, the chips are not too thick and come out hot. And the salsa is thin which I prefer-they have hot and mild. If you like spicy, be sure to try the hot, it is great! My in-laws frequent often so we have tried lots of stuff. The enchiladas, chimichangas, burritos, and tacos are all good. They are known for their nachos plates which are massive. All in all, pretty good Mexican.

First and last time we will go here. The service was good and our waitress was nice and kept our drinks full. That was great. The food on the other hand was pretty bad. You start with chips and salsa which are nothing to brag about. I got a chimichanga and my s.o. got nachos and both dishes were just very Americanized, bland, and unappetizing. Neither of us finished our food nor did we want to get it wrapped to go. After eating and leaving, we both felt like throwing up and sleepy or sluggish… :/ Basically, the food sucked and I’m sorry to say that we won’t be returning.

Have been going here for over 25 years, even went to sister location that that was on Woodward Ave, now a hospital parking lot. The Nacho supreme beef and bean is the best reason to go here. Get the largest size too. Looks like a pizza and is fantastic Service is attentive and good enough since I am there for the Nachos!!! The enchiladas with bean chili on top is a great choice also No better Mexican food in the area

Went after three different recommendations. Went at 9pm on a Saturday night and it was dead, contrary to their usual dinner crowd at dinner time. The chips are seemingly homemade and are the star of the show. Refills on the chips and salsa are free. I got the chicken and cheese nachos as their sign said they had the World’s Best Nachos. The chips were naturally good but the cheese(plenty of it!) and chicken were bland. It looked great and had promise but didn’t hit the spot. All is reasonably priced and another menu item may fare better. The staff was very nice.

Stopped in for lunch with my husband a few weeks ago. Let me start off that the service was terrible. For that reason alone, I had to put 3 stars, though I originally wanted 4. Our server took several minutes to bring anything we asked for, including water and a Corona. And it was surprisingly slow service for the time of day, it was well after 1pm during the week. The steak burritos were excellent, the meat was very tender and well seasoned. The steak fajitas were great too. The chips were freshly made and salsa was decent.

Mmm, Waterford’s best kept secret! Wonderful food, good service. I love their salsa, tacos and enchiladas. Margaritas are pretty good as well. The only downside is that during busy nights they’ll seat you in the big side room, the tables are way to close together and I like having private conversations.

As a born and bred Waterford girl, I grew up on Trini and Carmen’s, and have been going here semi-regularly since 1992. This will always be my baseline for mexican food, and no other place has yet to compare. I can’t even tell you how many times I have been here — far too many than I care to admit, but I can tell you that my review is VERY representative of how Trini & Carmen’s is as a whole. This is a family-run business, and a Waterford institution as far as I’m concerned. The service is fine, not stellar, but not bad by any means. It’s that kind of place where regulars are SO regular that anyone else is just kind of «there.» But that’s fine, you came here for the food! Let’s start with the cheese. The prodigious cheese that IS Trini and Carmen’s.(If you are lactose intolerant, go grab a lactaid and continue when you’re ready.) I don’t know what kind of cheese it is(I’m guessing chihuahua), nor where they get it, but it is THE. BEST. CHEESE. EVER. And it’s not just the cheese alone. It’s how they cook it. The wonderful spotting of char from their broiler covers the cheese and gives it a heavenly even melting over anything they choose to cover with this gold. That being said, I recommend anything with cheese. First and foremost, the CHIPSANDCHEESE. The most perfectly crispy and thick-but-not-thin chips ever topped with the best cheese ever known to mankind? This is what dreams are made of, folks. Oh, and don’t forget their homemade fresh salsa that is, also,(I swear I’m not being dramatic) what dreams are made of. Perfect combination of natural tomatoes, spice, and flavor. After you inhale your share of the chips and cheese(hell, I could eat one of them myself), get yourself, oh, I don’t know, some tacos(hard shell only!), enchiladas, burritos, or even quesadillas. I don’t care what you get, just get it and thank me later.

I have been here a few times in the past, and couldn’t remember what my experiences were like. However, I went there this evening to check it out. The nacho chips were average. The ground beef in the burrito was absolutely bland the texture of the meat was as if they tossed hamburger in a frying pan and tossed in seasoning. There was no effort into making the meat properly. I can not complain about the service. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Our food was prepared quickly and correctly. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this is not the place to eat.

You start with chips that are ok and tomato paste they try to pass off as salsa. The rice was not good, beans were boring, wet burrito was nothing more than food from Walmart with chili on it, the Hot Tamale was neither hot nor in anyway good, the taco is slightly above Taco Bell. The hot sauce was hot once you got past there classic but it was only hot with no interesting flavors. The tamale tasted like it was cooked in cardboard. The beef in everything had no taste and was of low quality.

I have went here for lunch on a few occasions in the past. I liked it before so I decided to try it out again. The food is still good. I had the combination plate which comes with rice and beans. They give you alot of food here. I also had the margaritas. The food tastes authentic and well prepared. They also prepare good margaritas. Great eating overall.

I stopped in at this place a little while back and yes it was dingy and nothing special about it but I’ve been to quite a few spots where you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. The only thing this place had going for it was our server, she was accommodating and very sweet and that’s why I gave this review two stars. The food on the other hand was very disappointing. I don’t like to be too critical but I honestly would’ve enjoyed my food more at Taco Bell than this place. That’s not saying much but I wish they would challenge themselves to really step it up a notch when it comes to Mexican cuisine. Not memorable and I will not be going back anytime soon.

I really wanted this place to be great. The decoration is very nice. I love the two person booths. Our server was good. The food was horrible. The spanish rice was clearly old, and I can make better myself. The free chips were ok, but were shining with grease. The salsa was literally watery. The tacos I ordered, I hate to say it, but I’ve had better at drive through establishments. Eating there, I have no idea how it’s been open for so long. Maybe there was a change in management or chef standards. I won’t be returning and I’m sad about it…
