I figured that it was due time for an updated review of good old Loon Lake. This place may not look like it from the outside but it actually had a pretty darn good beer selection. I’d say probably around 15 beers on tap plus more in cans and bottles. The last time I wrote a review was after a couple of visits that made me(and others in my party) sick from the food, I think it was from undercooked pizza or something — I remember the bottom being pretty strange looking. I, however, have ventured back in a few more times since then and have worked myself up to try the food again and I’ve been fine and the food was pretty good(they have spicy chicken nachos that are pretty decent for sure!).

This place smells funny and all of the TVs are messed up. They are all off color and have messed up lines. My friends refuse to go here anymore.

Don’t waste your time or money on this place. Horrible food and even worse service. If I had to sum it up with one word it would be «trash».

food was great and reasonable. Lots of different beers on tap. Definitely going back! Sweet potato fries were awesome! Turkey Reuben also very good. My boyfriend also enjoyed his club sandwich. Step up from regular bar food.

We went here for the 50 cent wings. We were even happier when we read the daily specials and saw they were only 40 cents today. We ordered 12 wings and 2 salads(cobb and loon). The salads were actually pretty good. The wings no so much. Not only were the drenched in some bad tasting sauce, but they actually were not on special. The waitress informed us the wings are full price, only the boneless wings are on special. How convenient. Maybe they need to add boneless to at least one of their signs to let people know. Bring your own wet wipes too, because they don’t have those here. The service wasn’t all that great. We ordered 2 teas and had to wait 10 – 15 minutes for the waitress to come back with sweetener. By this time we noticed the tea had an odd taste… so we switched to water. The atmosphere in this bar would be nice for watching sports. When we were here there was no music, just people talking loudly(and cursing) over one another. Not a good atmosphere at all.

I went there for a party … food was good, staff was responsive. overall good time. They had a great band there. The guys said it was the first time they had played there and the bar treated them well.

For some reason I literally dream about their hot wings. I don’t know what they do to them but they’re awesome. Pizza and sandwiches are also very good. Make sure you get something served on their homemade-style bread(maybe they do make their own, I wouldn’t be surprised). I could just eat a loaf of it with olive oil for dinner. We usually go during that awkward slow time in the afternoon, which I love because usually the cook will sit at the bar and watch TV and talk with us. They always have good stories. Also, they have every single kind of liquor you could ever dream of wanting. Took off one star because of a rude, surly bartender the first time we went but I haven’t seen her since then and every other time we get great service. I see other reviewers saying they don’t treat their bands well, but don’t take that out on the servers! That’s management’s fault. Hopefully they wise up.

I am very unhappy with my experience last night at Loon Lake. I have been to this establishment before. And over all… it’s not bad. The food is actually pretty good bar food and the prices aren’t bad. What I am appalled with is their customer service. I went in last night solely with the intent to use my JB dollar voucher. I paid $ 10 for a $ 20 certificate. I read all the requirements and it didn’t expire until February of 2013. When we went to pay the bill they wouldn’t accept my voucher saying that they haven’t accepted them for the past 6 months. The waitress said«well, if you had told me… I would have told you»…which is a terrible response. I happened to leave the table at the time the order was placed, but the voucher was sitting right in my spot and I had been waving it around while she was getting our drinks and appetizers. If she had been a decent waitress she would have asked if that was a voucher. The manager on duty wouldn’t come out, sent his waitress to do the dirty work, and then said I needed to call tomorrow to speak to a different manager. If the restaurant was interested in customer service they would have honored the voucher regardless of whatever beef they have with JB. Not only did I end up spending $ 37 I wasn’t planning on spending, I ordered more food than I needed to try to meet the $ 20 amount(the remaining amount was alcohol purchase, not included on voucher rules) AND I brought in another party of 2 that spent $ 30 on their own. Loon Lake got ample business from me and my party being there with or without a voucher being used. It is just insulting to make the customer jump thru hoops and feel taken advantage of. There are plenty of better local places I can take my business that will treat me with more respect.

Food was edible at best. Learn what medium rare is. The bartender was hungover or sick, definately should not be a bartender. Overall, food was just OK and the service, not even marginal.

This bar recently stiffed the musicians who played all evening long because«it was a slow night.» Any bar that would do that doesn’t deserve my business — or yours.
