These past few years as people have contacted animal control and the police regarding observations made at fairs, etc… it has been brought to my attention that one of the customers my company works for has had a very bad encounter with Granny’s. Let me start by saying, I do not own a rabbit, nor do I participate in the local Rabbit charity. I became acquainted with the local rabbit charity, when my employees discovered that people near our office were«releasing rabbits into the wild» because they couldn’t care for them. By wild I mean the lower west side of Erie in an pretty active urban gang/drug zone. Even if rabbit could live«in the wild» they couldn’t’ live in «this wild» very long. The mailman and a few employees worked to round up the animals… but what were we supposed to do with them? I googled the problem and came up with the local rabbit people. They have since become a customer of ours, and in turn I did help out a few times. I understand Granny’s feels ganged up on, and yes I love animals, and I mean no offense to anyone… but I’m not really connected with the group that Granny’s feels is going after them. There really are just a bunch of people who have gone to festivals who think some things just aren’t kosher with them. No one charity or group is encouraging anyone to gang up on them. Granny’s goes to festivals all over Erie, animals lovers see things, and we’re upset. That being said… recently my employer did do some new work at the new location of the rabbit charity. Granny’s had come in and claim that — due to all the ganging up on them by the charity — they were unable to sell their rabbits — and then left 8 of them at the charity. I had PERSONALLYWITNESSED rabbits being fed the same chow as the llamas and goats at the Peek n Peek festival Fall 2105. I saw the rabbits(and the llamas) raging diarrhea… and the kids that were handling the rabbits. I have already photographed kids wandering around the German Heritage festival a few years ago and posted them here. This is nothing new. The rabbits had matted fur and didn’t look well. I’m no rabbit expert, but once you get to a certain level of explosive diarrhea… medical knowledge really doesn’t’ matter. You just know the animal is sick. That being said Granny’s is a for-profit business who dumped their(sick?) animals off at a non-profit shelter. I did not personally witness the drop off, but being that they are customers of my boss, and employees have been on site… we have no reason to believe this is not true. Yes, I did post here about animals in their care having diarrhea. I was one person in the thousands that went to Fall Fest this year. I’m sure many people saw the diarrhea. Would YOU buy an animal with diarrhea from a fair? No, probably not. This is the handlers/owners fault… not a charity’s fault, not Unilocal, fault, not the fault of all the people who no doubt WITNESSED the incidents. I even took selfies of the animals, if Granny’s should ever want to try and take legal action against me… I can prove what I’m saying, and I’ve already posted photos from the German fest proving what I’ve claimed before. Now…not only are they not taking adequate care of the animals, they are dumping them ff on non profits too.

Last night Mr. and Mrs. GRANNY’S ARK dumped 7 bunnies at our rescue! They proclaimed that they couldn’t sell them because of us, and in the future they will DUMP all of their unsold bunnies on us. So their true colors have come out… IT’S A BUSINESS… IT’S FORPROFIT… NOT A CAREWHATHAPPENSTOTHEBUNNIES! They don’t know how to sex them, their poop is horrible(they are fed goat food), and there was a male in with the females! What exactly happens to these unsold bunnies every year? He said if we have too many bunnies, he knows a lot of people that will eat them. Admittedly the angoras were bought at auction for $ 3.00 shortly before he sold them for $ 30.00 each. That’s why the high-fives after they made a profit on the sick bunnies! We get it that it’s your right to breed and sell. It’s also OURRIGHT to be RESPONSIBLE and COMPASSIONATE toward these little ones who have no voice in their fate! Here’s an idea: Make your money with your petting zoo if you must. STOPBREEDINGANDADDINGTOOVERCROWDEDRESCUES! If you care about animals as you say you do, have some compassion for them! FYI, they have a FB page, please feel free to share your thoughts. THANKYOU!

They had the animals at the Peak and Peak festival. It was the highlight of the trip animals were very well taken care of. The people from Granny’s Ark are warm and caring’

Please stop the abuse! Rabbits being sold too young to be away from their mothers for $ 10. You can buy 2 for $ 15 but owners couldn’t tell the sex because the babies were too young. I’ve witnessed the overcrowding and handling. I wonder how many of these poor babies die!
