Filomena’s

Found it on Unilocal and had to trust the good reviews. Great family-​owned style restaurant in a new modern clean environment. Calamari was excellent. Gnocchi was incredible. The entire menu looks great. Good service.

The boy had a blue cheese burger with fries that was pretty good but the only good thing I had here was a tiny flatbread pizza. My linguine with red sauce was awfully, sadly bland. I’m not sure how one can mess it up, but Filomena’s did. I’ve had better pasta dishes from a can. Ok service but we won’t be back.

I’m not one to write reviews, but this place was excellent. My husband and I recently moved to Waterford and have driven by the restaurant many times but haven’t had a chance to stop in. We finally went and we are so glad we did. As soon as we walked in, Mike, the owner, greeted us, shook hands, and gave us a «tour» of the place as if we were walking into a friends house. Once seated at the bar, we were promptly served. I particularly noticed that every single employee had a smile on their face and was genuinely happy to be there. You know the place is run right if the staff is happy. We will be back soon.

Wehave had dinner, appetizers and drinks at Filomena’a many times. The food is always excellent and promptly served. Generally we eat at the bar where we are always happy to see the friendly staff. We are always greeted warmly and quickly served.
I have also been there for group dinners and buffets in their private rooms and we always received the same warm friendliness and delicious meals.

I have been working in the New London area for quite some time and somehow this place escaped me. Shame on me for not finding it sooner. When I pulled into the parking lot the place was packed as they were hosting two memorial service groups, so I was slightly concerned about parking and service on my lunch break. This fear was immediately put to rest as I was greeted at the door and led to an area where I sat at an open table of my choosing.
My server Mo was attentive, informative, and courteous, always keeping me updated on the status of my courses and checking my satisfaction with each item, while not hovering or being overbearing in any way.
All of the food I got for myself, plus the takeout I picked up for a coworker were top notch, and I admittedly a very picky customer when eating out, mostly owing to my upbringing in the Federal Hill Italian section of Providence. The portions were perfectly sized for a lunch that was filling, but didn’t weigh me down all day. Pricing was in line, if not slightly less than what I would expect to pay for quality Italian style cuisine in the area.
I will be back soon, and often.

I was very happy with my gnocchi in a spicy tomato sauce. I haven’t eaten here enough times to have a well-​informed opinion, but pretty yummy for what I’ve experienced!

Finally made it for dinner, don’t know what I was waiting for… The night we happened to go they were hosting trivia night! We made reservations there was 9 of us in total. Our waitress was very good she was super attentive considering how busy it was. I ordered the potato gnocchi which is fresh made on site they were so tasty. The seafood special was ordered and they enjoyed the platter as well. The pasta with vodka sauce and meatballs was also ordered and I was told they were very good as well. They loved the sauce. The Italian Nachos were ordered and shared and I assume they were a hit because they ended up ordering another order of them! The antipasto platter was ordered the presentation was very nice and I was told it too was very good! The bread was enjoyed by all of us and was very good we had several baskets. On to desserts we ordered cookies, mini cannoli, and chocolate tuxedo cake all which were a hit! I have to say Stephanie our waitress was very friendly and was really good the service was fast and accurate the food was good and enjoyed by everyone in our group! We will definitely be back!
Mike please do trivia on a monthly basis it was a lot of fun and there was a good turn out as well!!!

Went for Easter lunch, the whole family was impressed. The service was on point. Live music that fit the event. I’m not even sure who the musicians were, however they were excellent. All the food from appetizer to desert came out well prepared and presentable. The kitchen staff are true professionals. Everyone enjoyed their meals from Lobster ravioli, Veal Parmessan, Scallops with Parmessan risotto, & Cajun Fish tacos. In my opinion this is one of the top family oriented dining establishments in Waterford, Ct.

Friendly staff & service. A very friendly environment, seemed like everybody knew each other. Food came out quickly & was simply delicious. I would definitely come again if I was in the area!

The menu is thorough, it has something for everyone. Everything I’ve ever eaten their has been delicious. The staff is attentive and courteous. Last night, I had the salmon. It was cooked to perfection and served over a risotto. Delightful.

This place has a great vibe and great staff it makes you feel like you’re right at home because everyone is so welcoming. We sat at the bar which had a good view of the place it was very clean. The chicken wings were probably my favorite we also had a spicy seafood pasta which was alright but those wings were amazing! And the salads here are really fresh just like all their other dishes. I’ll be back again real soon.

Very, very impressed. I organized a small-​ish holiday dinner (about 30 people) for work. The owner, Mike, was super friendly and helpful. Our company did not pay for this– it was completely out of pocket for each employee who attended. I thought he gave us a great deal. We had salad, bread (with delicious dipping oil), pasta, chicken and cookies for dessert. Because of our group size, we were limited to one entrée selection. Mike suggested a chicken and pasta dish. He said everyone loves it. I was skeptical because it’s a hard to please group, but it really was phenomenal! I’ve been wanting to go back for more ever since! I am new at this company and it was really important to me that this went well. I’m truly grateful– it couldn’t have gone better! Thanks!

Went there on a busy Saturday night. We expected to wait for a table. We were pleasantly surprised when the manager told us he would have a table for us in three minutes or less. We proceeded to stand for the next 10 minutes and neither the manager nor anyone else made eye contact with us or spoke to us again. After being repeatedly ignored we left the restaurant without being seated. The manager watched us leave and did not say a word to us. Had we been told there would be a 15 minute wait for a table we would have gladly accepted that. Over promising and under delivering is not acceptable, nor is being rude.

I had a surprise birthday party for my mother a few years ago here. The chicken parmesan is quite tasty, and the staff is very friendly. The large room on the side is very accommodating.

Avoid this place! If you can think of all the things that can go wrong with a nice dinner out this is the place. I’ll start by saying that we were given a restaurant association gift certificate and they didn’t know they’re part of it! we waited and waited for everything, the server was very careless and the food okay. The sad part is we re treated as if we didn’t matter to them. A party of 3 with $ 100 gift certificate on hand and they didn’t care. we stood on a corner of the restaurant for long enough to feel embarrassed because they couldn’t get a hold of whoever was in charge of certificates, we had proof in our hands yet they dismissed us. Sad and miserable experience

Found this place through Unilocal.The pasta dishes are great!!! I prefer a more romantic ambience but we just come here before heading to the casino. Elvis is there tonight. Yes, hes still alive!

Filomena’s offers a delicious and fresh selection of dishes. My family and I have enjoyed many dinners here and have chosen Filomena’s to cater family events and showers and have never been disappointed. The service is warm and attentive and the owners always go out of their way to greet you and make you feel welcome and ensure your dinner is enjoyable. Filomena’s is a hidden gem in Waterford. The restaurant’s namesake, who was the owners’ grandmother would be proud!

Great Mother’s Day steak & scallops w my Mom & I. Everything is good on this meant. Highly recommend

Tucked away in a strip mall Filomena’s can be easy to miss from the road, but it is a great option for lunch or dinner in the area.
I have been to Filomena’s a handful of times and service has been consistently friendly, professional, and prompt. The restaurant is kept up well and also offers a few tables outside when the weather is nicer out. The inside has never been too loud and there is a separate private room that can be reserved for large parties which seems to get a lot of use.
Filomena’s has a full bar and always offers a very decent draught list. I’ve opted for a bloody mary a few times over beer and they’ve always been very good.
While the menu offers standard entrees, I typically opt for the wraps or sandwiches after starting with the calamari (splurge for the $ 1 extra pepper sauce!). The Buffalo Chicken wrap is one of my go-​tos and is always great. They also usually have a few specials; I tried a grilled chicken wrap special once that came with a cup of clam chowder that was also really good.
With great service and very good food, Filomena’s is a go-​to spot whenever I’m in the area.

I was really disappointed with our dinner here. The «award winning clam chowder» was bland. Only edible with pepper.
I had the chicken park as I was craving it but the marinara was little to desire for and the chicken was so pan fried it’s all I tasted. Again it was so bland. My husband got chicken with corn and carrots and sun dried tomato on too. Odd and not good. The chicken was soggy. Even the bread was cold and tasteless.
Gotta say though the service was good and they were all so friendly.
$ 75 wasted dinner. What a shame. Will not go back.
