Been here several times. The food is prepared with a lot of care. The soups, which change regularly are all home-made, and not the usual GFS frozen soups you get at just about everywhere else. The soups change regularly, so there always new things to try. You won’t be bored. The owners put a lot of love into this place, and it shows. Personal favorite: tomato-basil bisque.

Found this restaurant hidden away just a few minutes from work. YUMMY home made soups and wonderful service! I got the Squash and Apple Soup and my hubby got the Split Pea with Ham. Both delicious. Very small, humble interior, so don’t expect anything fancy, but worth a visit.

Unbelievably good soups, delicious sandwiches, perhaps the nicest chef/owner ever and occasional specials that will blow your mind… Recommendations: Potato /Parmesan Soup Sweet Rueben Flan(when available) Cheers!

The soup was awesome. I do like their sandwiches, but the gourmet soup is where it’s at. I wish I knew about them earlier. Very friendly service and the owner is super kind.

Great soups! Tried all 4 kinds today. Best was Potato Parmesan-yum! All soup bases were gluten free as was the bread! We also had the Ham & Cheese panini, turkey & avocado roll up & a side chef salad. All were delicious;) Fabulous service; very prompt & attentive.

A great place to eat a meal. You actually know what is in the food and everything is made fresh and the soups are awsome! Oakland county’s best little secret, if you are in a hurry you wont wait long and i promise you, you’ll eat healthy and well! To close the prices are well worth checking the place out!!! I am an Italian born and raised in Italy. I say this to explain why I am so picky about food. It remainds me some Taverns in Italy where you can have family food just cooked for you and you alone, so I felt tastings these wonderful soups. My preferred is the salmon chouder that is nothing resembling a chouder and everything of a french boulabaise. It was delicate and tasty. I tried few other soups. They were good but for my picky taste they were just ok. The service was great and the ambient was warm and cozy: the ideal for an out of the ordinary Michigan winter freezing cold Saturday. Overall a good place for some healthy food.

Delightful. Delicious. The owner told us all about how the place came to be… Now onto his 198th soup.

When they first opened, I would have given them 10 stars. But after a while, even tho the food was tastey, the portions were smaller and smaller. Owners are friendly, service is fast enough, but I have an appetite, not looking to be on a diet…

This is the best place to come for a sandwich and soup! Joe, the chef/owner, creates all the recipes himself — I haven’t had one that wasn’t amazing! The staff is super friendly and they remember you every time you visit. I’m in LOVE with the chicken salad sandwich(it’s almost impossible to order anything else). Recently I did try the orange glazed salmon over risotto and it was TODIEFOR(and I order a chicken salad to go too). In response to some of the more critical reviews, this is a place you go if you want a really exceptional, tasty sandwich/soup. It’s not a frou-frou gourmet restaurant, it’s a comfort food spot. It’s warm and homey and delicious. I bring everyone here when I’m in the area. I live in Detroit and try to come up here a few times a month. I say give it a try and come with clear expectations. If you’re looking for a steak dinner or a fancy metropolitan spot with unusual food selections, this is not the place for you today. But if you want a hearty meal that is full of flavor and will leave you warm and cozy, you MUST try this place! Say hi to Joe for me!

I’ve been meaning to go to Soops n Sandz for a while now but the timing was never right… until today, when I needed something not too filling and that was quick. I went there at an odd time — about 3:45. I was the only one there, besides the cook/manager. Since I came in the back way from the parking lot, I made a point of saying that I’d walked in. From previous reviews, I was expecting a tiny restaurant. It IS small, and it felt weird walking in through the back, but once in the main area, it doesn’t seem claustrophobic, as I was expecting. There are several booths and a few tables as well. There were a lot of sandwich choices, but they seemed pretty ordinary. There were 4 soups: chicken noodle, cheesy broccoli, a pulled pork chili and something with shrimp. I chose the cheesy broccoli with a half roast beef & cheese sandwich. It was ok. Despite the cook saying that they have the very best soup, I found it to be rather ordinary — nothing outstanding. The sandwich was also adequate. I did like the enthusiasm and welcoming nature of the cook. He was interested in how I found the place & when I said it was a combination of driving by for years & Unilocal reviews, he seemed very proud of the positive reviews. I would consider going back; it is good for when you just want… something…but don’t know what. And it satisfied myhunger.

Hard to find but good food and a nice variety. Soups are very good and you can get a light lunch without spending a fortune, Can be very busy at noon so try and go early or late for lunch.

Very good. Other reviews were correct, it was difficult to find. Note the address, then just look for that. Right next to a dog groomer. The sandwich choices were plentiful, then there were soups and salads. No frills, just the stuff that they are good at making. The grilled cheese they made my kid was the perfect ratio of cheese to bread. They didn’t have a kids menu so they just made him a ½. I had the veggie which even without cheese and sauce was very delicious. I think my total was like $ 7. I would for sure go back.

It’s fine… not sure why this place gets so much love. I suspect the folks who frequent this joint spend a lot of time at TGI Fridays and think Nickelback is «really edgy». Weird atmosphere, weird clientele, noisy tables and chairs, friendly yet weird staff… the food is alright… nothing special… fine…I would sum this place up as «fine». You could eat here… you could make a sandwich and bring it in with you… I’m sure it would be fine. You could sit down at one of the 8 tables being occupied by a lone guest waiting for a friend that isn’t coming… go ahead… I’m sure it would be fine. I would probably not eat here again since I have other places to eat, but if you don’t have other places to eat this place is fine… i guess

Little hard to find, so you have to keep your eyes open. Small inside with very plain décor. Very freindly service with no waiting to be seated. Had the Mushroom with Rice soup along with the Sweet Rueben. Both were very tasty, portions were ample but not large. SS had the Creamy Tomato and egg salad sandwich. Tomato soup was very creamy and the egg salad was also good.

I love Unilocal! The reason I love Unilocal is I never would have known this place existed, but doing a search on Unilocal this place came up. I decided to give it a try. I had the chicken salad sandwich. It was delicious! Seriously, the best chicken salad sandwich ever! The restaurant is pretty small-a couple booths(maybe 4 or 5) and a couple 4 top tables. The restaurant is easy to miss and I was glad I had put the address in my GPS. Parking is in back. Try it you won’t be disappointed!
