This was hands down the worst experience at a walk in clinic I have ever had in my life. Avoid this location at all cost! The nurse practitioner, Janis Depauw’, was rude, unprofessional, and so lazy she could not get off her stool and manage the appointments that had been waiting to be seen in an efficient manner. I checked in at the kiosk at 11:20 and was 4th in line. It stated an estimated wait of 1 hr and 22 minutes. I opted to receive a text message with 30 minutes prior to my appt. I received a text and was back within the time specified and had approx 8 minutes to spare. As I was walking up to the clinic door after using the hand sanitizer she opened the door and allowed a woman who just walked up to go in front of me instead of announcing she was ready for the next patient and shut the door immediately. She has a very loud and distinguishable voice so we were all able to hear everything she was talking about in the waiting area which included herself, her own kid, different types of Popsicles, how she became an NP and on and on which dragged out all of our wait times. After she was with the woman who cut in front of me, she opened the door while still sitting on her stool and informed me it was her lunch hour and I would still have to wait! When I explained I had been here and waiting for almost two hours she rudely stated it was not her problem and what did I expect her to do about it! She said, ‘You should have knocked on the door then, so it’s not my problem! No acknowledgement of the fact I had been there on time and had been waiting patiently. Then she said, ‘I don’t have anything to do with the text message notification so I don’t know how that works .’ Then she proceeded to explain it was her lunch hour and I would have to continue waiting and then shut the door(from her stool of course!) I would never trust this unprofessional and lazy woman to provide me any type of health care so I immediately left after this awful interaction! I should have trusted the several negative reviews I read regarding this practitioner instead of hoping those had been isolated incidents. Save yourself time and unnecessary aggravation and avoid this clinic at all cost! I would love to be able to give zero stars for horrible customer service, however I appreciated the store manager apologizing for my bad experience and recognizing the situation was poorly handled. Unfortunately, CVS is not in charge of the minute clinic. It was bad enough having to wait two hours, however my real issue was Janis Depauw’s rude and dismissive attitude and lack of acknowledgment of my time. Not to mention she needs to get off her stool and manage her waiting area!

Their website said they took my insurance, when I called they said they took my insurance, when I was treated they said I would be covered, now I am scratching my head wondering why my service wasn’t covered and I am stuck with the full bill. I didn’t want for my insurance co to pay for an emergency room visit for a cut finger, so opted to go here. Now I know why the EMG rooms are full of non life threatening people, at least they cover it.

I’ve used this CVS Minute Clinic several times. The nurse practitioners are friendly, well-trained and put me at ease. The Minute Clinic is affiliated with Henry Ford Hospital, and there are doctors on call if the NPs have questions or need a consultation. It is quick, and they can send prescriptions either to their own pharmacy or any other pharmacy you choose. On this last occasion, I went there first for antibiotics for an injury I was afraid was becoming infected, and then a few days later to have stitches removed. I saw different NPs each time, but both were kind and understanding, apologized for any pain or inconvenience I experienced and were very reassuring. The last time I went was a Saturday morning and they were quite busy. But the NP took her time with each patient and apologized to those who were still waiting. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is that their exam rooms are tiny and they cannot perform all urgent care-type services, such as suturing — although they can remove stitches.
