I know I have previously reviewed, and was very positive. Well, I feel compelled to update… I know nardelli’s is a chain, but I ordered a steak and cheese from the Oxford branch earlier this week… and it was fine. I have no complaint. But then I ordered the same sandwich from the Watertown branch… well, my steak and cheese from the Watertown avenue branch was BYFAR better than the Oxford locale. Watertown avenue– your sandwiches outshine your peers BYFAR! The bread was fresher, the sandwich neater, and the taste was just better. Perhaps you can provide some professional development for your fellow nardelli’s owners, because your game is on point. I’m just happy that we live closest to the Watertown avenue branch… you have continually proven that you are the BEST! Thanks for being the best nardelli’s– keep up your terrific work!

quick and easy. They can make a sub of your choice in 2 minutes. Clean store front. A quick stop off 84 on my way to 684. Huge sandwich for 8 bucks

Worst food ever. Chicken was ruined. Like rubber. Pulled pork worse. I would rather starve to death.

This is a go to for me and some of my work friends– we LOVE their Italian combo with everything. They have a huge selection to choose from but I typically only go for the combo or the chicken parm. They also have a decent amount of desserts to choose from which is nice when you need a midday sugar boost. There is limited seating but we don’t usually have an issue finding a spot– it’s more or less a stop, eat and go type of place. They recently opened another one closer to my home– we haven’t tried that spot yet but I’m sure we will soon. I was going to drop by today but they’re closed on Sunday’s. The pricing is set a little high, you should expect to pay around $ 10 for a half grinder and a soda. They are very quick and I’d say moderately friendly, haven’t had a bad experience yet.

Great subs, efficient staff. If you want a giant fresh quality Italian grinder, go here! It’s not cheap but it’s a fair price for the amount you get.

Been here a few times and every time I regret that I settled for this place when Ann’s Deli on Baldwin Street and Cavallo’s on East Main serve up grinders that are not only less expensive, but are tastier, fresher and just taste worlds better. Recently, I made the mistake of ordering a meatball grinder at the Southbury location. They took out frozen meatballs, added sauce, placed them in the microwave and then served them on bread. YUCK. A real Italian Grinder shop serves FRESH meatballs, not frozen. Also, that«mix» of chopped stuff they put on the cold cut grinders is awful. Sorry Nardelli’s. You’re just not in the same class as Cavallo’s in Waterbury or Oakville or Ann’s Deli.

Dear Nardelli’s: I’ve always loved you, but when I had your meatballs for lunch yesterday my love for you reached new heights. Tasty, saucy, cheesy. They were everything. Yours, AE

This place is pretty awesome. Sick of the 5 dollar 11 inch sandwich that lacks meat and character at Subway. Go here if you want a massive sandwich filled with anything you can think of. I can only vouch for the cold cut sandwiches because I question how fresh the hot sandwiches are due to all of it being precooked and in a case. It seems that they prepare all of the ingredients for the hot subs and then refrigerate them and heat them as necessary. I am not sure about the exact procedure for the hot sandwiches but I can vouch for cold subs. These sandwiches will fill up even the heartiest appetites.

Brought home an Italian combo for my gf, I had the buffalo chicken sub(which was listed on the board as being«on special», but at the same price as the main menu — so what is exactly«special» about that ?). The grinders were OK, my gf felt the tomatoes on hers were sliced very thin. Just not that inspiring. We also had a potato salad side, and a snickers cheesecake slice for dessert. Again, not bad, just not too exciting either. I felt $ 20 for the whole meal was reasonable. We might give Nardelli’s another try, it’s only 4 miles from where we live, so it’s convenient for us.

Personally, I generally frequent the Nardelli’s on Plank Rd, just because it’s more convenient for me on my way home from work. However, I stopped here the other day just to see if there was any difference. Taste & quality-wise, absolutely not. This one is a little more cramped than the Plank Rd location, although it has the benefit of not abutting an on-ramp to 84. The interior of the Plank Rd. location is a little dumpier than this one. Service here, like the other one I go to is fantastic. I usually alternate between buffalo chicken, roast beef, or chicken salad. All solid choices. The cannoli and giant pickles are also great. And seriously? People complaining about portion size? A half a grinder is $ 6, and a whole is like $ 8. Mind you, these sandwiches are not as ridiculously stuffed as say, Carbones in Torrington, but they’re still respectable nonetheless — in case you haven’t been to a grocery store lately, deli meat isn’t exactly cheap. Of course they’re not going to load the sandwich with a pound and a half of cold cuts, be reasonable. A half grinder and a bag of chips is plenty for me most days — and if I’m particularly ravenous, then I can polish off a whole grinder — although I end up in a food coma afterwards lol

Great location, great food, great service. Place is always packed, but I never wait longer than 10 minutes. There is always a staff of at least 5 people when I go there and they always greet you with a smile and prepare your food in a timely fashion. I always get the roast beef or Chicken Parm grinder and they are both delicious every time. Their slogan is «Our’s is bigger» and they are not lying. For just a dollar or two more(or even same price), you can get a grinder packed with fresh meat compared to another famous chain we are all familiar with. Their fridge has today’s latest and greatest drinks and they also have a soda fountain. GF rolls and soup for celiacs! Aside from grinders, they also serve chicken by the lbs, salads, deserts, and other Italian favorites. Seating is limited with about 10 – 20 tables and there is a Television, but I always do pickup since I work not too far. Watertown ave is always crowded and it is a bit tough to get in and out of this parking lot, but it is worth every manic driver. The parking lot is a bit tough at time and it is hard to park next door and walk as well. If you are in the mood for a grinder, and i mean a real grinder, give nardeli’s on water-town ave a try. You will not be disappointed.
