Had the fired chicken, wasn’t that great. Disappointed really. The gravy was out of a can, and the mashed potato tasted instant. The bacon bloody Mary was ok, but this place is way over priced. The lobster Mac and cheese was runny, and had lobster but not much flavor. Probably won’t go back.

My wife really likes this place. I’ve never had a reason to. I decided to take her for her birthday on 01⁄27. We ordered drinks, she Dewars and water, me a milk stout. She ordered her favorite, chicken piccata, I ordered salmon with mixed veggies. Drinks arrive. No bread, rolls, salad, soup, etc are offered with dinner. You would think there would be something at these prices. Her dinner arrived steaming hot, mine was lukewarm at best. I was not happy, and it ruined the rest of the evening. When the server came to check on us, instead of sending it back, I simply asked for a to go container. My wife was not happy. I thought it would be less disruptive. This used to be a great place when it was smaller. It has continued to go downhill as it has grown. Improvements are needed.

First time here and I am impressed! My husband ordered the Bloody Best and everything on there tasted great! Even the fries! We also ordered the escargot and it was also delicious. We will definitely be back to try more items from the menu. Can’t wait!

This place is fabulous! Don’t be fooled by it’s outward appearance. The food, service, and value as all top notch. My favorite dishes include the lobster bisque, chicken, and apple cobbler. This is where my now husband took me on our first date. The bread pudding is also super good. I love to come here because i know that the food and service will consistently not disappoint. Try it, you’ll love it.

Wow, have experienced so much great food here. Patio is awesome. The meal bloody mary is just ridiculous and amazing. The drinks are also fantastic, even if they don’t have a burger in them.

Great food. I really enjoyed my meal here with friends. I would definitely go back. This is a popular spot since its been featured on The Food Network. I would recommend this to friends. It’s kind of small so I gave it 4 stars.

If you live anywhere in the Dallas/Ft Worth metro area, Chef Point Café is worth the drive. Hell if you live anywhere in North America, it’s worth the drive. It’s an awesome, elegant restaurant set inside a gas station. The food is incredible southern cuisine. Their food is good, real good. How good? The chicken is called«better than sex fried chicken» but this is Bloody America so you know why we were here. This masterpiece is called«The Bloody Best» and it definitely holds its own against any drink that has the balls to challenge it. massively garnished with waffle fries, a burger, and some of that better than sex chicken, it’s a delicious meal all by itself. Go, enjoy, and tell them Bloody America sent you! and thanks Linda for the tip!

Lobster bisque is wonderful. Pastas are great. Love their patio atmosphere! I think everyone knows this place is great. A little pricey but then again you are getting quality food. You never have to worry if it’s going to be good or not. It always is. I still need to try the bread pudding though. Will return again and again.

Very good food. The Lobster Bisque is my favorite Ning on their menu. The bread pudding I’d the perfect ending to a meal. I have never had anything I did not like there. Try the Italian Nachos. They Can easily be a meal. The prices are amazing. Gourmet food for prices anyone can afford.

Mark and I have been going to Chef Point for six years now. Before we had even heard of DDD. It was wonderful. We celebrated milestones there. Chef would come talk to us and ensure we were enjoying our meal. It was quaint and the food was amazing and I could see, without fail, why Guy had been there. We’ve been there 4 – 5 times since their«makeover» and it seems like we are all paying for the new look with the overpriced items and minimalistic quality anymore… We thought it may be growing pains and spaced out timing of our visits to allow for the comeback. It never happened. Last night was sadly the last time… Chef was on duty and in the kitchen the whole time, so I can’t put the lack of quality on a lackadaisical staff. Formerly, the lobster bisque had large pieces of identifiable lobster in a freshly baked bread bowl. Outstanding… Now, it is shreds of possible lobster in what seemed like 2 – 3 day old bread bowl that could we barely cut with a knife… The«Seafood» stuffed chicken and pork chop were luke warm and had so many pimentos(pimentos, really?) that it covered up all taste of what I’m not quite sure is seafood anymore, maybe just cheap fish drowned in lime juice. Money has never been an issue, as I’m a huge advocate of «you pay for what you get,» but $ 60.02 for 1 mediocre soup, a stuffed chicken and a stuffed pork chop just makes me cringe when the quality is mediocre at best. The service was meh. We ate less than half of anything and no question of, «was your meal ok?» when we told her we didn’t even want a to-go box. It’s a holiday week even. Several open tables around us. The kitchen wasn’t close to swamped, or shouldn’t have been with pasta already cooked, things tasting reheated, etc. I’m not a complainer, just sad and disappointed in what was formerly so wonderful and we deemed so high in living 3 miles away… I hope Chef fixes it. Guy wouldn’t give this place any air time if he came back, so best to get the quality back before it’s too late… I miss you, Chef Point.

An ex co worker ate here with his Wife 2009. The guy wouldn’t quit talking about this place. He said that he and his Wife really enjoyed it and darn near forced me to make a pack to go. Here we are my Wife and I, here on business. We were in need of a good meal. I don’t know what made me remember but I thought of this place. We got over there and being 10⁄31 folks were in full swing. The staff was cool and our waitress Kim was nice. She explained that she’s been there a few years and eagerly talked about the menu. My Wife got the crab cakes and pasta. Myself the blackened chicken with crab meat. In addition we got salads to go with our meals. The salads were Caesar and fresh. Our meals s arrived in about twenty minutes. Both dishes were piping hot and had to be salivated over a bit before we dug in. We finally got to and were shocked by the taste. My Wife got crab cakes that were delicious and nice sized. My blackened chicken with crab was good. We somehow missed the flavor levels we desired in our meals. The food wad great so go of you’re reading this, the flavor was not enough for us. Thankfully we missed lunch and completed most of our meals. We really appreciate how Kim took care of us and her recommendations. If she’s on duty you’ll enjoy her service. My Wife and I agree 4 stars but if that extra flavor was there 6. We’re not fans much of the metroplex. If we’re in the metroplex close to this place we will go back if time allows.

Very nice but did not live up to the hype tonight. Food was very good and fairly priced. Wine prices a bit high. Like the bacon on the bloody Mary. I was fooled into thinking the first check in was $ 5 off the frozen margarita, it wasn’t. Wife had shrimp pasta. $ 18. Perfectly AL dente, nice cream sauce, shrimp was very flavorful. I had french cut grilled pork chop. Meat was perfect and food was hot. Veggies over cooked. Mash potatoes(sub) were on the bland side which is ok by me. Wife and I both like that the food was not over salted. Service needs improvement. Server was nice but the support staff(mngr, food runner) seemed a bit too busy to give 100% Will give this a second chance though

This was my 2nd visit and the food was outstanding both times. The first time I had the lunch portion of the shrimp scampi.(On a weekday) Amazing large shrimp cooked perfectly over wonderful pasta with mushrooms and a wonderful cream sauce. The lunch portion was perfect. Our second visit was on a Sunday at noon and we were seated after a short wait. I had the fried chicken, my daughter had the chicken fettuccine and my husband had the chicken fried steak. All was wonderful. The fettuccine Alfredo was the best we had ever had… definitely noteworthy. Other dishes were great too. I will definitely return… more than likely on a weekday for lunch as the prices were more reasonable then. Service was OK.

Located in a gas station with only a simple sign to mark it’s existence, Chef Point is easily passed by without notice. But once you know it’s there, it is not easily forgotten. My Godparents have been frequenting Chef Point for years now, but this is the first trip I made, and although(as you’ll read below) my experience was not stellar, their experiences have been consistently wonderful. RESERVATIONS: Only averrable for parties of 10 or more. As a group of 11, we called an hour and a half ahead of time to let them know we’d be coming. However, upon arrival, the hostess told us we were not on the list and it would be about a 10 minute wait. So much for that. SEATING&ATMOSPHERE: There is a very nice patio out back, but because it’s Texas… and August, we opted for an inside table. The dining room is well-lit and not too loud, with plenty of room in-between tables so you don’t feel squished. They put paper on the tables for drawing fun times. SERVICE: We were waited on fairly quickly, and our waiter was quick to refill drinks and such, but getting our food was an absolute fiasco. They got orders wrong, forgot orders completely, and brought out plates at three different times(instead of all at once) so that half of us had our food 15 minutes(NOT exaggerating) before the rest. So we just sat there letting our food get cold while the we politely waited for everybody at the table to be served. The most inexcusable part was that it was the childrens’ food that came last. If you are going to serve different people at the same table at different times– always bring the childrens’ food first. And one of our party ordered the Bloody Best Bloody Mary as his meal(and drink of course), and it came out even five minutes after the childrens’ food. So, I had my plate for half an hour before my boyfriends’ food arrived. This was ridiculous! However, I have been informed that this was very unusual and that the service is often top notch! FOOD: –SHRIMP N’ GRITS– Good flavor. The grits are larger and courser than most places, but I like that. The shrimp was a little dry and not very enjoyable. –LOBSTERBISQUE– Again, good flavor. Served in a bread bowl– this thing is huge! I really wish they had a smaller portion of this available. It was too much for one person, but not easily split. I also didn’t find a lot of lobster in it. –HOUSESALAD– I opted for ranch dressing because I love house-made ranch, but to my dismay, the ranch tasted like it came straight out of the bottle. I was really very sad about it. –BLOODYBESTBLOODYMARY– a crazy amount of food & drink combined, and a crazy price tag to match. You’re looking at about a $ 30 Bloody Mary here. The novelty of this is more exciting than the actual flavor of what it consists of. That being said, it was a ton of fun! FINALTHOUGHTS: I imagine that this place could be a lot of fun and offer some really good food and experience, but I just didn’t get it this particular day. I’ll give them another shot, but until then, I’m afraid this review stands as is.

Food and service are always excellent here. The main reason why I always come here is to get their famous bread pudding. It is hot, moist, externally soft that it can just melt right in your mouth. The sauce is not too sweet so you don’t get tired of it. And the portion is also great. Some of the other dishes I like from here are the maple leave duck breast, oxtail, and the cioppino soup. The service is also excellent. Servers are always cheerful and thorough every time I’ve been there. Overall, it’s just an excellent place.

I gathered a group of friends make seven in all, for a new dining experience at ChefPoint Café. Only two of us had ever been before and I was anxious to show off my little-known Unilocal find to our gang! We arrived around 7:00p and were advised of the typical wait time of 30 – 45 minutes. No worries, we would hang at the bar. Since the last time I have visited, they basically obliterated the gas station side and spiffied up the dining side. Didn’t gain many tables due to the fact that a private dinner was being held out back, in the other dining area. We started off strong, with quick and friendly bartenders, who honored the Unilocal check-in of $ 5 for a plain margarita. I upgraded to a swirl for a few more bucks and it was great. Another friend opted for some sweet, wild berry type drink, to the tune of $ 11, which was a bit steep. After about 45 minutes, our table was ready. Our waitress was spot on, greeting us immediately, keeping tabs on drinks and general bussing of the table. In our group, we ordered the following, in no particular order: Maple leaf duck breast appetizer, $ 13, ok but no one really swooned. What Not appetizer, $ 8 for five mushroom caps, stuffed with cheese in amazing garlic butter sauce. One mushroom was eaten, but tons of the sauce was sopped up with bread! Italian Nachos, no olives, chicken on the side due to a veggie hubby. $ 10 and what a bargain at that! The chips are smothered in an indescribable Asiago sauce, and the side of chicken was a bowl of plentiful, moist and tender, white meat. Hubby and I each ordered a small Ceasar salad, which came at two different times, in two different sized bowls, with his clearly being larger than mine. The Ceasar dressing was far too tart and screamed«store-bought!» On the entrée front, the spaghetti with meat sauce was a hit. Tender pasta, albeit a bit water logged, was smothered in a tasty and rich meat sauce. The whole thing, once tasted by all, was devoured. Another entrée was the French cut pork chop, covered in mushrooms! Supposed to be served with a burgundy wine mushroom sauce but the mushrooms took center stage. Overall, still a good dish despite the guest not liking mushrooms. Another guest ordered the bacon-wrapped beef medallions, only to be told they were out of his selection. He opted for the crab stuffed chicken breast and devoured about half before calling it quits, so I call that a good meal. Another guess ordered the«Better than sex» chicken and proclaimed it mighty close! He raved about the gravy and absent the one bite he shared, devoured the whole thing! Hubby ordered the Blackened Sea Bass, served over pasta with a creamy Cajun sauce, for $ 28. When the bill arrived, we noticed he was charged an additional $ 2 for«any item below can be blackened» but we were beyond caring so we let it slide.(See the soup debacle below please). Another friend ordered the shrimp pasta special; however, she only received THREE shrimp total! I believe this dish was in the $ 25+ range, which is unacceptable for the actual amount of food received! She proclaimed it tasty but small! Finally, for my «entrée» I opted for the special soup of the day, noted on the board as French Onion Soup, $ 8. When it arrived it was sadly presented in a little crock, just broth and onions. The broth was complex, with sweet and savory flavors, but I missed the croûton and the molten cheese one normally expects. I asked my waitress and she said she had never served this soup at this restaurant, so she went back to check with the chef. She returned to explain that the specials board was incorrect… it was simply onion soup, not French Onion Soup. I ascertained that the absence of the bread and the cheese was the differentiating detail. I asked for a to-go container for my soup, as I had plans to add bread and tons of cheese at home. She obliged and then I asked if I really had to pay $ 8 for some broth! She checked with the female boss and advised they would remove it from my check. Ok, issue handled. About three minutes later, she returned to advise me they would only comp the soup if I didn’t take it home! I immediately handed her my to-go container and wondered into which layer of customer service hell I had fallen? Seriously, have you ever had a restaurant person negotiate an item performance or service failure in this fashion! Nope, me either! The manager stopped by our table to advise the reason for the recapture rule is so that they have evidence with which to educate their staff. I thought that might be a seriously valid argument; however, the waitress had already explained that the board was incorrect, not he food prep. Overall, not counting our adult beverages, hubby a I spent $ 78 prior to the tip! Overall, there were enough service and billing issues that I doubt we will return! Happy eating people!

Okay okay okay. Had some co-workers not told me about this little gem, I would have continued passing it over based on the online reviews. C’mon Unilocalers, this place is a diamond in the rough! Yes, it’s in a gas station. No, it’s not a typical gas station. It’s surprisingly trendy/fancy, clean as a whistle, the service is tip top, and if you sit in the front area, you can see the cooks making your goodies. They were interacting with the servers while we were there, and a little bit with the guests as well. Enough so that it was completely appropriate to walk up and thank them for the divine meal once completed. The actual restaurant is HUGE. Space for groups, intimate seating for just the two-o-you, and yet it’s kid friendly. Out back there’s a large patio bar, outdoor covered(and uncovered) seating, and a yard for kids(yours and K-9s alike), to run and play. But yes, it’s in a gas station. And no, it doesn’t matter one eensy weensy bit. Because… The food… OHTHEFOOD! If you haven’t been here yet, your nose should be banished to the bog of eternal stench. Your tastebuds should be whimpering in shame. Sadness, pure sadness, because you haven’t shown them the true love they deserve. I’ll be honest, the prices were a wee bit more than I anticipated, but the second you smell the food, it doesn’t matter. People, seriously, listen to me. IT’S WORTHIT. So what did we have, you ask? To start, our server recommended the What Nots(baked mushroom caps stuffed with cheese, and garlic yumminess). I went with the Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives, tried and true — the blackened stuffed chicken served over angel hair pasta. Hubby had the Pot Roast(Sunday Menu), and he loved it so much, he wouldn’t let me sample it. The kids had buttered noodles… and oh lord… these buttered noodles are what my high cholesterol dreams are made of. I’m not kidding here, these were so delicious, that I lied to my daughter the next day and told her they were all gone. Because they were about to be INMYBELLY! This is easily one of the best meals I’ve EVEREATENINMYLIFE. No joshin’ here. BEST. Five stars. My fave. Read my reviews, I’ve never pulled the BEST card before. Guess that means, I’ll be back. Bottom line, go. If you haven’t been in awhile, revisit Chef Point. If you’ve never been, I think you’ve already caught my drift. Get your pah toot off that couch, and head over. Luckily for me, I don’t have lunch plans tomorrow, and this is a great location for a mid-day jaunt from the office. Until next time Chef Point… I’ll be dreaming of you.

I really enjoyed dinner tonight. My dad was in town and he suggested this place per the request of a friend. I am so glad we found this cute little restaurant! First, our server was great. She was finishing her last evening of training, but honestly you could not even tell. If she wouldn’t have said anything, I would have thought she had worked here for a lot longer. Our glasses were always full and she was able to answer all of our questions. Second, the food was delicious. All of us ordered different entrees. I ordered the chicken & waffles. The chicken was delicious. It was the perfect amount of savory to go with the sweetness of the waffle. I liked the addition of the fresh berries. My husband ordered the monte christo. Apparently, I must have been born in a cave because I have never heard of this before. It is ham & turkey & cheese sandwich that is breaded and fried. Oh. My. Gosh. Delicious. Hands down we will be back. Especially, because it was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives with Guy Fieri.
