Wine and words has a limited selection of wine, but what they do have is top end with some excellent price points. Coupled with the owners’ impressive knowledge, it makes for an overall pleasing experience. The beer selection does need work, but they didn’t name it «Beer and Books» so I can’t be too upset. Given the available space, it would be better if they stuck with only local beers, but there tend to be a few hidden gems if you bother to look. There is also a nice variety of cheeses, condiments, oils, etc. I especially like the interesting jam/jelly offerings that they really go out of their way to find. If you like books, they have a fun selection. Local interest and non-best-sellers predominate. What really makes this a nice store are the owners. They are friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, interesting, and genuinely caring. If they have it, they will help you find it, and you will enjoy the search.

The shop is pretty small and I’d like to see a bigger beer selection, but that being said, I really like this place. They have a lot of great wines and the weekend wine tastings are a good way to try new types of wine. I’m a red wine drinker, but found a white wine I fell in love with at a tasting. I probably wouldn’t have had it otherwise. — The owners are really nice and held on to my purchases overnight, so I wouldn’t have to walk around with heavy wine(this was during the smoke on the water festival). Great place!

Wine and words… two things you truly cannot live without. Well, some people probably can but I tend to sometimes overdo it on both, but there is nothing wrong with that. I digress. Wine & Words is a fabulous place in Washington where you can go in for cool books and also a bottle(or 3) of wine. The owner, James, AKA«the wine guy» had a tasting all set-up when we walked in. This is something that apparently happens Fridays from 4−7pm and then on Saturdays 11 – 4. We were told you can also taste some gourmet cheese items but we didn’t see that when we ventured in. Wine is more than fine though so we were all good. Wines for tasting were Wines from Spain: La Cigarrera Manzanilla(a lighter/differnt kind of sherry), Garcia\ Revalo Casamaro Blanco, Amizade Godello, El Chaparral De Vega Sindoa Old Vines Garnacha, Bodegas Nekeas Vega Sindoa Rosé, Avinyó Cava Rosat Reserva, and Altos de Luzon, which the owner says to this one, «white teeth be damned!». I loved this tasting, lots to taste and he had great specials running on these. There was also a $ 12 and under rack where I grabbed a Malbec for $ 9– SCORE! Such a cozy place to grab some tasty wine. Glad there is something like this in the area where the owner also knows his wine! I’ll def be back!
