I haven’t been to a Charlie Brown Steakhouse since my birthday bash years ago when one was located in Carlstadt, NJ, off rt 17. My family and I were in the area during lunch hour and had to stop by for lunch when we saw CBS. As soon as we pulled up, I noticed the banner ad saying they serve brunch from 10:30am to 12:30pm. Perhaps, next time I’ll try brunch here but today, I’m all for grilled salmon and crab cake. Oh, it was deliciously served with my crunchy sweet potatoes fries. The lunch meal also comes with soup or unlimited salad market. Everyone opted for the unlimited salad bar, which completely is very fulfilling. Honestly, I was staffed by the time my meal came and took most of my lunch to go. When you checked in Unilocal, there’s a coupon for 1 free firecracker shrimp appetizer. It’s breaded fried shrimps with some spicy tangy sauce. It was delicious. They also serve dim sum which I’m a very big fan of but I’m not sure how I feel about eating dim sum at an American restaurant. I’m quite skeptical about it so am curious if anyone had tried it, please Unilocal.I just don’t want to be disappointed with the taste and all. The service is friendly but slow. I do notice that there are only a few customers yet the orders come out slow so imagine when the place gets busy.

Credit where credit is due. I haven’t been here for a few years and the last two times I was here it was dreadful. I went here tonight and it has completely turned around! Our waitress, Ro Ro, was spectacular. The food was great. My mashed potatoes were cold and she did many checkbooks and quickly replaced them with hot. I am happy to say I had a great experience there tonight.

Since they closed down the Charlie Browns by me, I decided to stop by this one. The salad bar was awesome. It is everything you need for a salad. The galic mashed potatoes were creamy and flavorful. The prime rib was above average. My wife liked the buffalo chicken wrap. The only things I found wrong was the bread at the salad bar seemed a little stale and the place needed a renovation. But let me tell you it’s worth the money and I’m going back when I get a chance

Not only is the food horrible but overpriced for what they serve you. The place is filthy, I don’t know how this establishment is still in business. Take the advice of the other reviews and stay away. The drinks weren’t even good they seemed watered down.

It has been ages since I have sampled the steaks at a Charlie Brown. Not many left in the area from what I can see… an endangered species of you will. I went to dinner with some friends. My friend and I got the 7oz fillet mignon steak with seasoned fries as my other friend decided on the chicken marsala dish which looked delicious. Our service was on time and attentive. We didn’t have to wait too long for our food either. None of us had any room for dessert. Perhaps next time we won’t get the Charlie Brown sampler appetizer which did us in. I’d much rather have a delicious dessert than an appetizer. This Charlie Brown gets a 4 for good/decent steaks and timely service with a smile. 1 star is deducted because the restaurant is in dire need of renovation. It is old and hasn’t been well kept at all. It’s like the 80s have stopped time itself.

We stopped for lunch on our way home I don’t live near this restaurant chain so we always take advantage when we’ travel near one. my husband had the short ribs I had garlic steak both done to perfection. The dinner was accompanied by a salad bar which was outstanding.

Waited FOREVER for our food. The crab cakes were cold. Waited another 20 minutes for a replacement. Then the crab cakes came out fishy! What a disappointment! Won’t be going back!!!

Has a much better salad bar than other CB’s in area and service and food is much better. Love the garlic crusted steak and the skillet cookie. Slightly old smell to the place, but I’ve had good experiences with the food. Also, the parmesan crusted chicken is very good as well.

I sadly have to agree with the poor reviews. Although the salad bar is above average, the service is slow. Took about 20 – 25 minutes to get our food. Ordered the chicken marsala and it was very tough to cut and eat. I was disappointed a little bit and maybe next time I’ll get prime rib. Prices are a little steep as well, $ 3 for an iced tea? Its free refills but most restaurants still are in the $ 1.50-$ 2.25 range. I’m willing to give CB another chance though, so well see what happens.

Been there twice and today, Father’s Day marks the 3rd. The first two times were awful. Ordered a burger medium well and it was burnt to a crisp. The salad bar was a mess. The second time, we sat at the bar. The clumsy bartender spilled a drink all over my girlfriend. Sitting here now and just finished eating and guess what? The power is out. The power literally went out, came back on, and now we’re sitting in pure darkness again. The only light is from the exit sign. Will never return to this place. Unbelievable.

My father and I went out to dinner at Charlie Brown’s & experienced the WORST service I have EVER had or witnessed(since I’ve worked in many restaurants). My father noticed a gentlemen’s steak on the next table and asked the waitress which steak it was. It was the«Charlie Cut»(14oz.), and my dad said that was what he wanted, while I ordered the«queen cut”(10 oz). When our food came out, my father’s steak looked NOTHING like the other gentlemen’s steak. My father’s steak was as thin as my queen cut, while the gentlemen’s steak was super thick and filled his plate. We called the waitress over and said that what he had wasn’t the Charlie Cut, but he’d be willing to keep it, as long as he was charged for the«queen cut» instead. The waitress said, «it’s actually that HER queen cut is on the big side.» I told her that wasn’t true, since this was the usual size I got when I would go there… She took both plates to show her manager & came out with my steak(which I had already salted) for my father(who can’t consume lots of salt), and a super small steak(the duchess size 8oz.) to replace my «oversized» queen steak. I actually laughed in their faces! I couldn’t believe they would DOWNGRADE my steak, because they gave my dad a smaller steak & they were trying to save face… I made them go back and get my «original queen sized» steak, which they had to remake, because they served my plate to another table… so I got my food only after my father finished his(because what’s the point of a cold steak at a steakhouse??) & he had to wait for me to finish eating … You NEVER downgrade the food for a customer. Then the waitress was too busy sweeping the table next to us & gossiping to realize we needed drink refills. I am disgusted at how they handled the situation… No discounts off our food for their mistakes or our time wasted either… I will ONLY be going back to complain directly to the manager/owner!!!

Used to come to Charlie Brown’s all the time with my Dad as a teenager. Always enjoyed it, but just moved back down into the area and decided to try it again because I passed it on the road. Let me tell you it is not the same place. They appear to be trying to compete with Friday’s, etc… The steak just straight up sucked and the soup was deplorable. Even the fried onions tasted funky and the soda was flat. Charlie Brown, you’ve lost my business for good sir.

Good salad bar, which is the only reason to come back. The ingredients are fresh, and worth the trip. The bar is expensive, and the night bartender on Monday and Tuesday is a lazy kid, whose attitude shows that he does not like to work or to fraternize with people, all essential skills for a successful bartender. His mood seemed to vary based upon the action in the NCAA basketball games, and he frequently checked his phone for scores throughout the evening as if he had gambled on the outcome. The young ladies who work during the day are personable, hard working and polite. My advice is to go for the lunch salad bar only, and stay away from Monday and Tuesday nights, but do not expect this to be a steak pub, it is a chain.

I have mixed feelings about this place. It seems as though this place has changed over the years. One thing is for sure… Service is STILL slow. My food was decent however I did go with a safe choice which was grilled chicken with mozzarella on a ciabatta role. The menu is a bit pricey which is weird because I have went to upscale places where you pay like $ 15 on average for a dish. The salad bar is $ 3.00 extra if you don’t get a signature meal which is probably the best part of this whole restaurant. Overall I wasnt thrilled with the service or the prices but the food was ok.

The place needs a refurbishment. Took the grandkids for burgers and wanted a steak for myself and the wife– but the experience was less than stellar to say the least. Food was greasy and the quality of meat was awful. We sent back 2 dishes but I will say that our waiter was nice about it. Im not in Jersey often, but will skip this place the next time I’m in town.

Dined December 31. Have visited this Charlie Brown’s numerous times over the years. I must say that it was great for a while, then went down hill, but now is better than ever. Service was excellent. Restaurant was clean. I had the Queen Prime Rib and it was cooked perfectly. It was hot when it arrived. Sweet Potato Fries equally great. Of course had the Brownie Sundae and it was delicious– brownie was warm. Servers continuously came around. Only negative may be the salad bar. Could be better situated so line could keep moving otherwise you are forced to hover over tables while waiting. Definitely recommend this particular Charlie Browns.

I came here for my friend’s birthday dinner. She is a wonderful friend but clearly has no sense of what a decent restaurant is(she chose the place). My friend said she chose it because of the salad bar. Maybe the salad bar was good but there was a line and I was tired and didn’t feel like getting my own food. So I got a bowl of French Onion Soup instead of the salad. It was the best thing on the menu. Since I am watching my red meat consumption I chose crab cakes for the entrees. They were awful. The birthday girl ordered the steak and it looked okay. She also had some sweet potato fries with it. I tasted the fries and they were dried out. The people there were either senior citizens or families with lots of kids. A group of cool girls like me and my friends should go to a more hip place like Bonefish Grill or Fire and Oak. Stay away from Charlie Browns. Really it is not a bargain, especially if the food is awful.

Stopped by on a Sunday night. Couldn’t figure out what to do for dinner and decided to come here, I’ve been here about 3 times in the past when I used to work in Paramus. Friendly staff as always, food is pretty good. Got the appetizer sampler to split, nothing special about it, can be compared to like applebees or TGIF appetizers. I got the bistro steak medium well, with a side of seasoned rice, and beef barley soup. The beef barley soup was pretty good, had a good amount of beef in there as well. My wife’s burger wasn’t well done like asked, but the waitress was very nice and had it remade. My bistro steak had a piece of hair in it, but the waitress was very apologetic and took it off the bill. I undertsand things happen, as I work in the food industry. I would definitely come back next time I’m in the area.

So, I have to say. Its been a while since I’ve been here BUT my visit was so horrendous that I still remember every detail. I went with my sister, I ordered a chicken and mashed potato dish. I started eating my potatoes and went to lift up my fork and out came a whole entire napkin. How does that even happen? They could give a shit however. Took the meal off the bill and never asked if I wanted something else(I didn’t) Neither one of us has an appetite now, so we asked for the check for her meal and the drinks. 10 minutes go by… 20 minutes… After a half hour we got up and left. You don’t make already upset customers wait to pay.

Don’t see what the complain is. Had dinner upstairs. There was a buffet salad bar and had a steak for the main meal. Food was good, it was a pleasant atmosphere. I’ll definitely go again.

Yuck, I didn’t enjoy anything at my last visit to this restaurant. The food is just extremely underwhelming and I don’t think the salad bar is as fresh as they boast it is. Pass on this chain steakhouse and go elsewhere, expensive for what you get as well.
