What a fun and interactive event. 1.) beer tasting 2.) open bar to all the beer your heart desires 3.) delicious food line up 4.) awesome service from bar and wait staff 5.) the buffet lineup was constantly replenished 6.) cute glassware for the beer tasting 7.) if you checked in you received a free Unilocal glass! 8.) beautiful space This was such a great event! The beer lineup was so lavish. My favorite was the pear cider. It was the best cider I have tried. It had a strong pear flavor making each sip refreshing and super fruity. The cider had a sweet edge that made the refreshing sips even more delicious.

Boy, was I excited to to be able to attend the Y’oktoberfest, hosted by Unilocal’s Public Policy Team and Yahoo! Held at the Dacha Beer Garden, the hubs and I were able to score a free 2-hour parking about a block away and accessed the special VIP pre-tasting hour! :D It was a beautiful day with a nice breeze, and this place seems to be a favorite neighborhood hangout spot. They offer German, Belgian, and American craft beers with wines, meads, ciders, brunch, HH, and dinner. We were directed towards the rear part of the patio, where there was a big Yahoo banner where you can take pictures in front of, an inflatable Unilocal loveseat, and 3 long picnic tables that were reserved for the Unilocal staff/the Yahoo staff/Yelp invited guests: D Dacha had a great spread, where we were able to sample some Dacha signature sausages(weisswurst, bratwurst, spicy turinger(my personal favorite!), and smoked sausages), yummy housemade sauces(beer cheese(for the pretzels), ketchup, chipotle adobo sauce, deli mustard aioli, and curry ketchup), housemade pickled vegetables(beets, carrots, pickles, and butternut squash — yum!), fried zucchini, house-cured smoked fish(salmon and trout), local cheeses(brie, Parm, and bleu), sopressata and prosciutto, rustic bread, salted soft pretzels, Austrian sausages(schnitzels), and Dacha’s version of the German ‘potatoes and kraut,’ which were fried potato pancakes, topped with pickled kraut. Led by Dacha’s bartender and cicerone, Rafi Bortnick, he explained each of our 7 German beer samplings right to the T — we learned a lot about how to observe the appearance, the aroma, the taste, and the texture. It seemed like a never-ending pour of German beer samplings, which included Dunkelweiss(had a nice sweeter note), Hefeweiss(most stated it tasted like bananas), Kristallweiss(quite strong), Vitus(has a bit of a tartness to it), Cometweiss(which will never be available again, this brew is made by the University of Weihenstephaner and is a limited brew; this had a lovely pineapple aroma to it), Pilsner(the popular smoothness that most people enjoy, it is more ‘bread-tasting’), and Korbinian(more like a ‘dessert’ beer, subtly smelling like fermented grapes). Mobius Meadery, the owner, included the guests in the conversation/presentation as well, and it was a good time! We were semi– being attacked by mosquitoes and gnats, and one of the awesome servers got us an OFF! spray, which we greatly appreciated! The staff here were super sweet and awesome, and they were all so welcoming: D We all walked away with some Unilocal and Yahoo goodies, and even some great glasses from Dacha! In addition, the patio is dog-friendly and completely smoke-free, so it is definitely a cool place to come to hang out after work/weekends! Thanks for a great evening, KIMBERLY!!! :D +ask for Rafi: D +German, Belgian, and American craft beers offered +spicy turinger sausages! +German beer samplings +free 2-hour parking on Q or 8th +dog-friendly! +smoke-free!
