Excellent food, excellent service. A fun time was had by all, the bone marrow and Arctic Char were delicious!

My favorite Brunch spot in DC. My first visit I had the French Toast = Amazing. My second time I was not disappointed. Ordered the Chicken and Waffles with a side of Mac N Cheese = Phenomenal. Service was great and so was my Mimosa. Nice bar and décor can come dressed to impress or casual with the family.

The food we had was delicious(Seared tuna and lamb chop). The service was awful! We did select this restaurant because of the sidewalk seating-which was pleasant. After our appetizer, we sat for an hour without having drinks refilled or our dinner. When we talked to our waiter he said it was due to a large party inside(6÷1÷2016) and yet newer customers were being served. He brought us a complementary glass of wine. When we finished dinner we had to ask for our check multiple times. With some trepidation I would try this restaurant once more, when in town, to see if this evening was an anomaly.

Food was good, service was another story. Recommend Joe’s Restaurant which directly across the story. Don’t think we’ll be back to The Woodward any time soon.

Excellent restaurant and surprised by the 3.5 rating on Unilocal Modern clean ambience Service staff are polite, helpful, friendly. Seared tuna cooked perfectly and seasoned well per my significant other. For the vegetarians out there the roasted cauliflower«steak» was delicious. A dish bursting with flavored from the watercress, arugula, pesto topping. The quinoa was loaded with well cooked green beans. Light lemony seasoning add a refreshing finish to the roasted cauliflower and quinoa. The apple tart is amazingly delicious. Served with a side of Crème fresh and an reduced apple liquor. Tasty and relaxing way to spend an hour. Dinner for two without wine was $ 65 not including tip.

Passed a lazy Saturday afternoon with bottomless mimosas, fresh oysters and a butcher board. The homemade rabbit pâté is my new favorite food.

Good for happy hour, since they have a lot of room around the bar. Happy hour cocktail and flatbread is $ 8.50 each. I believe the items on the bar menu change daily. I wish they had a few more cocktails during happy hour and more items that you can share with a group.

Came here at the late evening on Monday with my friend. This is a really nice place. I was pleasantly surprised. When we came in hostess offered sits near the kitchen, but when I said I saw a free table near the window she led us to the table I pointed out. We ordered Duroc Pork Tenderloin and Bucatini Pasta. My pork was amazing. For desserts we ordered Mascarpone Mouse and Carrot cake. I’d highly recommend this place.

I have a thing for contrasting textures and flavors in the dishes that I eat and the Elysian Fields Lamb Tartare hit this on many levels! I think I stared at this appetizer for five minutes before I consumed it! The tartar is well balanced and full of flavor from the brunoise of pickled sunchokes, the subtle molasses/licorice like flavor from the black garlic to the sauce gribiche! The lamb tartare was topped with a lightly breaded and gelatinous quail egg yolk. The only thing I would have like, to accompany this appetizer would have been toast points or maybe some sort of potato gaufrette. The addition of okra was a nice variation on the classic Shrimp and Grits. Nice texture in the accompanying components of scallions, peppers, andouille and spicy herb butter. We decided on the pork chop and the snapper. The Gulf Red Snapper was actually my favorite entrée! Well balanced flavors of coconut, kaffir, red chilies and a bit of lemongrass. The snapper was crispy but juicy and sat atop the slightly sweet red curry, pickled peppers and mussels. The Berkshire Chops were coffee spiced and served over braised kale, cheddar cheese grits, Red Eye gravy, sliced pickled peppers and apricots. Woodward Table offers daily lunch specials and we snagged a side of the roasted red skin potato with lobster. Served with a bit of Mache and a light emulsified sauce. This was a great side dish. Nice subtle nutty flavor from the greens and great texture from each the potatoes and lobster! Great lunch service from Pamela and awesome job from the bar! Oh… Get the Spanish White Blend by the glass!!!

Just had brunch with a friend here. Service was fast and friendly and all the staff seemed upbeat and ready to help anyone in need of assistance. I took off a star for a few reasons. One, the reception area is impossibly small. Guests have to cram in and it’s hard to form a queue at the desk without blocking the door. Another issue I had was that the sinks in the women’s bathroom had faucets that didn’t hang far enough over the bowl, so I had to mash my hands against the rim to keep the water in the bowl. The last issue I have is with the presentation of my food. I ordered the smoked salmon & mini bagels as my meal, even though it’s under the«for the table» section. It came out on a massive wooden board and looked nice, though I was a bit self-conscious pulling it up to me to dig in-I personally think it should have been on a normal-sized plate. I also didn’t like the arugula(not on the menu description) that looked pretty but made the whole dish unwieldy and awkward. The salmon roe was piled atop it and kept sliding off, so after one mini bagel I scraped off the arugula.

See… I really wanted to give this place at least 4 stars, but no. Overall, this is a really nice place for a casual brunch situation. Very cozy, yet elegant environment, open kitchen, and good food. Our party consisted of 5 people, but nobody really came from the experience suggesting that we revisit. Although the server was great, our food orders were a bit delayed. It would not have been that big of a deal if the place was crowded… it was not. I’m normally a stickler for orders coming out(relatively) at the same time and this certainly wasn’t the case. Whatever… no biggie. I ordered the Chesapeake Eggs Benedict and Anson mills Grits. Both dishes were good, but not great. My main issue was the bottlemless mimosa promotion for $ 21.50. OK, I get it, but for that amount of money you would think they would just continue rolling through the table with the notion of refilling glasses… especially with such a low number of patrons seated. It was a small disappointment.

Horrible service and mediocre food. 1) It took an hour for appetizers to arrive. One appetizer was the peanut soup, which I’m assuming isn’t made to order. 2) Right before the appetizers came, we inquired about them only to have our waiter smugly reply, «There’s nothing I can do. I’m frustrated too.» I had to ask for bread only to learn that that was something we should have already received. We hadn’t. 3) The second appetizer, the hearth baked oysters, was sold to us by the waiter as a half dozen, but when it arrived, there were only 3. 4) Water was never refilled, only when requested by a scurrying busboy. Table was rarely checked on. 5) When the food came, my father requested ketchup for his burger and fries from the waiter. That was never delivered. 6) For $ 135(3 people) and this service, I will never be back, and for what it’s worth, I live here.

Came here for a work lunch — ordered the seared tuna(good portion, yummy, but how can you really mess up seared tuna?), and sriracha lime brussels sprouts(not bad, but missing the slightly crispy texture that I prefer). My favorite lunch item actually happened to be the complimentary bread balls, which needed no butter, and satisfied all my carb hopes and dreams. But the real reason why you should come here is to treat yourself to the dark chocolate cupola. It was decadent in every way, and the 22k gold leaf covering is the very definition of treatyoself. Every aspect of the desert worked well together to treat your taste buds — from the dark chocolate cake, to the white chocolate chiboust with the blood orange(cause regular oranges aren’t cool enough, duh) marmalade. The gold leaf makes the presentation out of this world, and is exactly what every special occasion calls for — definitely get this if you’re celebrating a special day!

I was in DC for a work training and we ended up here for dinner. I had the red snapper with forbidden rice — delicious!!! It was cooked just the right amount of spice. Chocolate torte for dessert which was also delicious! Our waiter, Robert or ‘frenchie’ was accommodating and awesome. I’d highly recommend this place and it’s great for groups!

Not my favorite place downtown. Tons of potential, but really falls short. Lovely décor, but needs TLC. The restaurant was mobbed and this sounds weird, but the restaurant was pretty dirty. I get that during peak dining times, there’s going to be wear and tear, spills. etc. but I feel like restaurants like this typically handle that sort of thing before patrons notice. The servers were RACING around the restaurant and loudly calling out to each other, lending towards the hectic, un relaxing feel of the experience. The food runners tried to deliver two separate meals to my table that were for surrounding tables, and tried to deliver our meal to the table next to us. The entire experience felt really disorganized and chaotic. Our server was not familiar with the wine list and unable to make a confident beer recommendation to my dad. It’s a shame, because the food is pretty good. I had one of their soups, which was delicious, and a duck dish, which was also good, though a little tough.

Get these two and any foodie will agree. The Brussel sprouts are amazing. It has a kick and twang, sweet and sour… I actually think it’s too much for the DC palate. But if you’re a foodie, you will love it. Charred, sweet and spicy — any fan of brussel sprouts will appreciate it. Surprisingly, the stake tartare was delicious. Chunky, but smooth and hits of capers. You will like. I think they undercharge for the taste and quality, so get it while you can.

Food: 4 or 5 stars Service: 3 stars Boss took a bunch of us here for a pre-Xmas lunch. I, of course, was the one who found the restaurant which could accommodate us.(I tried to not laugh out loud when he informed me on Wed 12⁄23 that he had hoped for a reservation at Old Ebbitt Grill for 8 people *that* day. No worries, Dee B. to the rescue!) He ordered several appetizers for the table — steak tartare, the tuna, and a flatb read or two. People liked the flat breads, and those of us who were more adventurous eaters greatly enjoyed the tuna(really good!) and steak tartare. For my meal I chose the chicken piccata, and it was easily one of the best chicken dishes I have eaten in a very long time. The portion was incredibly generous, and the flavor was dominated by onions and garlic, so it might not be for everyone, but I found it flavorful and just plain delicious. The space is cool, however, and I also loved the bathrooms(spacious, and each stall has a vacant/occupied thing going on — soooo European, but SO useful!!). Service, though, was strange. We did stand out a bit, as we were not business-types with suits and such, but that is absolutely no excuse — our waiter was too familiar, at times even a tad rude. I would return for the food and hope for better service.

Service is so good that I feel it is a shame on me if I give them anything less than five star. I met two friends here for happy hour. They came from LA and wanted to hit a happy hour before they go. We missed another place hh and ended up being here. What a surprise. As you can expect, happy hour on a Friday evening is pretty packed in DC. However, even though we don’t get the attention from bartenders, the general manager I believed noticed us and came to take our order and passed our drink orders to the bar. I am so impressed by the quality of service here. Speaking of the happy hour itself, not a lot of choices and appetizers are a handful. Signature cocktail, house red and white, beer on tap and sangria are the happy hour specials. But the service itself is worth a million bucks. If I ever come to this area, this would be my top choice.

Ok here goes the good and the bad: Bad: service was a little spotty, forgotten drink orders, random food orders delivered, slow refills, no silverware, napkins forgotten, no almond or soy milk for coffee, cold draft from front door so bring a jacket, lemonade taste kinda funny but if your into that type of thing live on the wild side, pass on the grits they need something extra besides cheese Good: can seat large parties, nice selection on brunch menu, although there was a ton of mix up on our orders the staff was more than helpful in correcting everything including complimentary drinks and sides. Food was good although not served as hot as I would prefer, large portions, everyone enjoyed their food but it was the service that knocked this place to 3 stars. I am confident on another visit I can most certainly update my review; do try this place out as it’s certainly competition for other surrounding businesses, in all fairness we did go on a Sunday, so I will surely update my review on my next visit

I was one of the first to review the WTF Café side of the operation, and have since been to Woodward Table twice for lunch. Both times were really good. I love the Southern aspect to all of the cooking, it reminds me of my grandmother very strongly. Today I had the small portion of shrimp and grits*, with succotash and a glass of chenin blanc — perfect! The size was great, I still felt like I got a good lunch but I didn’t feel crammed with food. I liked that the grits were just the right amount to coat the shrimp and peppers, not a huge dollop. I am not normally a fan of succotash, a fact I may have mentioned in my reviews, but something inspired me to get it today and I ate every bite. I also almost never drink white wine, and rarely at lunch, but I needed the treat so I asked our server for a recommendation and it went really well as a pairing. If I say that it tasted like water it will sound wrong, but what I mean is that the pairing was so good as to be just neutral and appropriate for the food, it did not in any way detract or distract. The rolls were delicious, another thing that kind of reminds me of my grandmother, and one of my lunch companions asked for more and then guiltily scarfed them all. We encouraged him, as he is the kind of abstemious personality who needs to let loose once in awhile. He had the vegetable plate(see what I mean?) which was presented in a gorgeous setting of four little square bowls, making it seem like tapas rather than ‘a vegetable plate’. He was happy with his selection, and I had one of his blistered peppers, again, mild but perfect. It vanished into my mouth and I actually looked around my plate like, «where did it go?» Our third companion had the beet and carrot salad and a side of fried potatoes. I just tried her potatoes, as I don’t like beets all that much. It was good, especially swirled in the grits and sauce. They ordered tea and espresso to finish, while I had my wine. Really pleasant lunch, and though it was not exactly quiet, we were able to have a productive conversation.
