If you go to williams sonoma in friendship heights or the new location in bethesda, make sure you ask for David to assist you. He is extremely friendly and very knowledgeable and is your best bet to help you find what you’re shopping for.

This store used to be great. I’ve bought many appliances and cooking tools and could always count on friendly knowledgeable staff to guide my selections. Not anymore it seems.
Lately some of the salespeople have been inexplicably snippy. I’ve noticed a change over the last year or so. Today I finally brought it to the attention of the manager after a tart reply from a salesperson when asked if she could take my purchase. He stared straight ahead without replying. I actually thought he hadn’t heard me speak. His only reply to that question was «yes, I heard you». Again, silence. I was stunned. What must be going on in that store is beyond me.

I was in the store today around 5:30 looking for a registry gift with my toddler. The sales associate who helped me printed the registry list, brought everything in my established price range TO me, rang up the purchase, and wrapped everything within 20 minutes. Everyone in the store was super friendly. They even offered my son a marshmallow while we were waiting for gift wrapping; nice touch! Love this WS!

I may be a little partial because WS is one of my all-​time favorite stores, but I like this Williams-​Sonoma location in the Mezza Gallerie mall because it never seems overly crowded (even when I was scrambling around for last-​minute Christmas gifts). Like any other Williams-​Sonoma, it’s a food-lover’s paradise, full of all things worthy of gracing my kitchen drawers, cupboards, and pantry shelves.
I’ve had good experiences with the staff here as well, always friendly and eager to hand out samples of whatever they’re experimenting with behind the counter.

So, I’m at the checkout with a $ 300 espresso machine on the counter; and I’m being totally ignored. The guy at the register is on the phone (sounded personal to me) and turns his back. The woman at the register walks around the counter to take the merchandise from a couple that looks like they got their clothes at Needless Markup. I’m wearing ratty jeans and a hoodie. So I comment to the woman if I should go to Sur la Table across the street. She makes some snide and rude comment basically telling me it’s okay with her if I go. So I went to Sur la Table and got the espresso machine there.

In general the store/​brand is pretty good but yesterday I bought a product that came in a box but when I opened the product it was different than what the box said and it had soap in it already.
The next day I tried to return the product and the store manager, Roman, refused to take it back and effectively called me a liar because the product was something that they didn’t sell – which is why I was returning it! Roman offered, as advice, «to open the product at the store in the future to ensure I don’t have this problem again».
Thanks for nothing.
Williams Sonoma Mazza Gallerie lost my patronage.

Parking meh. Also could not get help on floor and Starbucks machine broke.

I used to love Williams-​Sonoma and have always had a pleasant experience at the stores in the New York area. I recently came to this location in search of an engagement present and was surprised by the inept and surly service. Although there was only one other customer in the store at the time, the sales people were nowhere in sight and the other customer and I had to battle for a solo saleswoman. The prices of the products I was considering were not printed anywhere so I had to ask the saleswoman several times to tell me the price of a product, which it took her several minutes to do (apparently, a bar code is insufficient at W-​S). Finally, ready to pay, I asked if I could have the item gift wrapped and was told it would be another 35 minutes! Needless to say, I chose not to waste anymore time in the store and left to purchase my gift elsewhere. I will not be returning.

WS is just a little piece of heaven. I still remember my first time like it was yesterday. Everything is a blur up until I actually walked through the entrance, my whole body began to tingle, I was speechless, paralyzingly long gazes, heavy panting, then in a flash I was totally broke, upon recovery, I then went back for some more.
This location is my favorite. Especially if it’s your first time. Their entire inventory is pretty much displayed like eye candy along the walls. Me likey shiny!!!
This really is the only place where you can truly enjoy shopping for kitchen goodies as much as you enjoy cooking or entertaining itself. I read my WS magazine religiously.
We ended up here thanks to a WS gift card (hubby’s b-​day). The hubby and I have had our eyes on, and drooled over the De Buyer mandolin for at least a year, and finally did it. I never have any regrets when I shop here. I’ll admit that I’m totally experienced now though. You must enter with a mission, conquer, then get the hell out.

High-​end quality kitchen items. One of places I don’t take my credit card with me to keep me from getting bankrupt. I can spend hours in WS just looking/​checking out different pots/​pans and baking items. Everything looks so good…
— WS has big clearance pretty regularly. You can score nice glasswares, kitchen essentials during clearance.
— WS makes one of the best easy-​to make at home stuff: hot-​chocolate powder, marshmallows, bread-​mix, mulling-​spices and all candies.
— Great selections of vinegar and olive oil.
— Need a cooking book? WS has great selections.
Very attentive and friendly staff.
PS: They often make yummi samples for customers and there are lots of recipie notes you can take home.

I love WS! Because I love my wusthof knives, all-​clad pans, fleur de sel, le cruset cast iron pots and the de Buyer stainless steel mandolin! I love them all. It’s a specialty store where you can get the best for the kitchen. I recently saw the corn shucker and some pan for a swedish cheesy puff — they have some fantastic ideas! It’s definitely expensive but you pay for what you get. Things that will last you forever or even pass on to your next generation. Great place to find something for your special someone or even inspire her to start cooking in the kitchen!

2 cup-​a-​cake holders and some wine glasses… money well spent, if you ask me.

A very dangerous store-​I find myself wanting one of everything! :P In all seriousness, the employees here are really nice and are very knowledgeable and accomodating. When I need something cooking related, I usually go here and to the Sur La Table that’s a block and a half down Wisconsin-​between the two, I can usually find what I want.
The only catch is that the prices are going to be high, but the service can often make up for it, especially if you develop problems or have questions down the line.

I came here seeking a set of six champagne flutes. I received superior service from a brightly colored chino-​clad lad. Not only was he well-​versed in all of the champagne flute options but he even took the time to place each of the glasses under consideration next to the glasses I already own on a dining table. This allowed me to see what my new champagne flutes would look like at future parties.
He also gave me the hot tip that there’s an easy to access parking validation machine near the women’s shoes at Neiman Marcus.
