Can’t stand this place. More often than not the meat is shoe leather, the vegetables are limp, and the rice always manages to be rubbery. Yum. There’s a Subway if that floats your boat. The soup usually looks good.

Easily my favorite government employee cafeteria! The variety and relative healthfulness of the food options is admirable. Prices aren’t bad, either. Be careful with those hot bars, though, you’ll end up buying more than you intend. The dining area is very clean and new, and you can usually get a table. Word of caution: they just changed contractors this week, and the food options were dramatically reduced. I think that they will be adding more options soon, because people who eat there are ticked.

Best Government Cafeteria in the L’Enfant area. And one of the best cafeterias in Washington. If you’re lucky enough to have a US Government ID, or have business entering DoEd, this is a must. The cafeteria is located on the North West side of the LBJ Building on 400 Maryland Avenue, and offers great views of the comings and goings on the National Mall. Entering the locale, you go down a hallway and voilá, there’s the entrance to the cafeteria. The aroma of Oriental, Grilled Beef and Fish, and fresh vegetables is awesome. The cafeteria has five food stations, each offering a different type and variety of food. There is a noodle station serving Wok Cooking. There is a Grill station serving hot grilled items. There is a HUUUUUGE salad bar always stocked with fresh vegetables. A Sandwich Line. And a hot food dispensary. The food is fresh, the vegetables and salad are shiny and green, and the Wok cooking is all made to order. Yum!!! The only downside to the cafeteria(if that) is that with all the room devoted to food stations, the checkout lines are bunched towards the dining room and there is often a line. But with all that great food around, who cares?!
