My very elderly aunt was in failing health and ultimately I decided it was wise to have her pre-pay her funeral arrangements, because Jewish funerals are generally held the day after a death and I would also be handling everything from long-distance(i.e., it would be difficult enough already). I’d heard of this funeral home years ago, since the owner — Joyce — is the younger sister of a childhood friend of my(recently deceased) sister and they’re a *wonderful* family, therefore I felt confident that Joyce would be very attentive and caring. That was absolutely borne out, both beforehand and at the funeral(which was held at the graveside, since my aunt outlived all of her friends and we’re a very small family). When I made all of the arrangements(via both phone calls and paperwork), I primarily had contact with Joyce’s colleague(Mike) and he was *very* helpful & pleasant. Joyce then attended the funeral — and meanwhile, everything was handled perfectly & sensitively(both at the funeral home and at the funeral). It was the first time I’d met Joyce, and she’s a *very* kind person. I think this is the only family-owned Jewish funeral home in the D.C. area — and their personal attention meant a lot to my family & me.
