Super cute place. They have a large selection of items. They have many different Tibetan singing bowls, which is nice. The shirts run small, so beware. The attendant/guy watching the store, was very nice and willing to help me out with finding the right size. Prices were relatively fair…

Wonderful shop with a vast supply of jewelry, incense, decorations, clothing, and music. The lady working there was very nice and the atmosphere was quite soothing. I was surprised at the relatively reasonable prices for many of the items. I pick up a pack of Tibetan incense, mala beads, and a CD and am very pleased. The incense was unlike anything I’d experienced so far(used only Indian incense) and it was smelled like a sweetly fragrant campfire, it was lovely. I highly recommend this place if you’re looking for anything from the region.

I’m a scarf(pashmina, silk, short, long, you name it) and jewelry(particularly bangles & earrings) junkie. I also love the smell of subtly fragrant incense. I crave artisan(as if this word isn’t so overused in 2013) cultural trinkets and pride myself on seeking out said items. Tibet Shop is *quite literally a few years ago* right up my alley! The real charm lies in the conversation with the gentleman who runs the business. He is very knowledgeable, friendly and tolerant of those who browse just a little too long(ME). Tibet Shop is also great for those who are currently in anti-made-in-China mode… I have an aversion to political propaganda, but I am definitely for freedom of ethnic minorities. Drop in. Support. Appreciate.

So many things to see! Short of a full-blown antique dealer, this shop has something for everyone: mala beads, jewelery, tapestries, clothing, stickers, singing bowls, music, idols, chimes, more beads, more jewlery! Warning: you will run into Hispters on dates playing the singing bowls like they were at a concert for the culturaly insensitive. Don’t punch them! Warning: you will also run into 16yr old budding yogis bemoaning the shame of Tibetan occupation while trying on mala beads. «Like, um, do you have these in blue? The wooden ones don’t go with my Lulemon outfit.» Warning: if you are an «average» sized American man/woman, expect that they won’t have your size. «waterbuffalo» size is rare in Tibet. The Tibetan people are tiny, so be patient as you look for something that fits you. I had a very nice conversation with the owner about everything from the Dalai Lama to rent local restaurants pay.

I went here looking to buy some biddies(indian cigarettes), and was asked to leave. Im the type of person who touches everything before purchasing, i have to make sure i buy what i like, this dude didn’t like that. Kicked me out of his collection of souveniers, end of review. THISPLACESUCKS, DONTGOHERE…

This quaint shop in Adam’s Morgan has a beautiful selection of Tibetan trinkets, artwork and cloth goods. I met two of the staff and they were very friendly. We talked about Tibet, what some of the symbolism on the cloth goods meant and the culture of their homeland. I purchased a hand-woven throw blanket with the Potala Palace embroidered on it, featuring beautiful script sewn around the edges.

Palden Gyal, award winning Tibetan journalist and photographer, opened up the Tibet Shop 4 months ago in Adams Morgan. His amazing photographs are on display and for sale from his trip to Tibet in 2006– the first time he was able to get permission from the Chinese government to visit his homeland in 18 years. In addition to his photographs, his shop has gorgeous necklaces made by his wife using Tibetan beads and stones, beautiful bags from Nepal, inspirational posters and calendars with quotes from the Dalai Lama, and many other items from Tibet and its neighboring countries. If you don’t come out of that store with anything in your hands, you’ll still leave feeling a little more cultured.
