I recently assisted a friend in the process of buying a condo(my friend is a first time purchaser). Thomas was the selling agent. Having been through the process of buying in DC through my own purchase as well as others, I cannot stress how unprofessional he was throughout the process. 1) He was unresponsive during the process of seeing the home 2) On our attempt to do a pre-inspection, the key was not made available to the unit 3) He did not handle the transition well, including failing to remove a mattress that was part of the unit 4) During the closing, he was late and showed up in shorts and a t-shirt(I want a professional handling my transactions) 5) He demanded(in a rude tone) that the closing agent’s proxy to speed up the process(because he had an appointment, maybe the process would have been faster if he wasn’t so late) 6) Spent the whole closing on his cell phone If you want a professional, don’t CHOOSE this agent.

Various people from separate social circles had recommended I use him so I went in excited and ready to look for my condo. Turns out he was the least responsive realtor I’ve ever dealt with. Multiple phone calls and emails would go unanswered for days at a time. He’s generally okay with responding via text but even that would take too long. He would show up late to appts– around 45 minutes once– and I was the one who ended up finding and doing all the work to get my condo. He only took me out to look at condos twice and it was like pulling teeth when trying to schedule them. This all being said, however, Tom was extremely knowledgeable about the process and Washington DC real estate. Once I made a decision on a condo(that I had found myself) he was better about responding and getting the paperwork set. It’s just trying to access that knowledge is the most frustrating experience!
