I came here for a group event on a Wednesday evening. I was unimpressed and think that there are significantly better venues for group events in the neighborhood. First off, the service was terrible. I’ve never been to an other place where it took so long to serve 3 customers drinks. The bartender appeared to be clueless as to how to serve a customer. This problem was only compounded in our group when more people started showing up. At it’s worst, it took people 20 minutes to get a drink. Secondly, the drinks are over priced(~$ 12 cocktails, ~$ 7 beers) and not great. This is great if you’re a guest at the hotel, but not if you’re a local looking to host an event. Finally, table space at the place is limited. It’s kind of awkward to get around and make an order. There’s no server service, so you have to make your way to the bar area. There are better places to have a formal group event in the Dupont Circle neighborhood.

The ambiance was nice and a lot of people seem to like it. Nice music and relax atmosphere. Maybe I’m spoiled but the views were not too impressive and I don’t think I’ve ever had a worse gin and tonic in my life. Tonic from a box? Felt like we were having a mc Donalds soda.

The Rooftop bar and pool as the name states is perched on top of the Embassy Row Hotel near DuPont circle. My wife and I came here on Sunday on the hottest day of the year so far. If you are staying at the hotel access to this area comes with your stay. We chose to come only for a day pool pass. I would call the front desk before if you plan on doing the same thing as I have been told sometimes the pool closes and they have limited tickets for the public. You can chose to valet your car for around 18 dollars or choose one the many parking garages in the area. You may find like us that if you are up early on the weekend trying to snag one of the coveted poolside chairs that most of the garages are not open. The passes are 25 dollars per person. Views up top are great and include, the Washington Monument, Arlington and DCA. We had a few drinks from the bar and lunch that was served starting at 12. Our quesadillas were perfect and at 10 dollars per plate we were happy all around. A true gem in DC and a perfect way to cool off! Thanks!

This is one of my favorite places to spend a hot DC weekend day! I went the first time with a few of my girl friends as a break from the more crowded and noisy public pools, and have been back a few times. The pool is just the right size for a quick dip to cool off, and the cabanas and poolside chairs are perfect for lounging. I really love the vibe, and the views of the city are awesome. Definitely worth a visit, even if you’re a DC local!
