Tasty, healthy options with a middle eastern flair. Ok priced and served friendly. Inside the Shops at 2000 Pennsylvania.

I was literally dying for a plate of hummus and came across this little shop in the neighborhood’s shopping center at Foggy Bottom. I got a small bowl of hummus for 3.99 which comes with a pita bread. Well, the hummus was not tasting good. It was too salty and very spicy, in fact, I had tear in my eyes when I was eating that.

The Perfect Pita is one of my favorite places to grab lunch to go between classes(along with Poppabox just up the street). It’s quick, relatively cheap, filling, and hot and delicious. It’s also more interesting than just a typical old sandwich for lunch, and their pitas are always perfectly toasted and loaded with veggies. I’ve liked all the pita sandwiches I’ve tried, but my favorite is probably the steak and cheese. When you want an alternative, their 9 inch pizzas are really good as well. I didn’t realize hummus with pizza is such a delicious combination!

Phenomenal pitas. I’ve gotten the gyro and falafel hummus veggie toasted sandwiches. So tasty with the sauce and heaps of lettuce and veggies. My friend loves it because of the turkey/chicken gyro meat. The baklava was surprisingly good last time I went. Before closing on Fridays they have special deals to sell everything they have left before the weekend. Prefer this spot to Amsterdam Falafel, I think because it just has more fresh ingredients and focus is on a couple more simple homemade dips, like hummus and tzatzkiki, vs the many pickled varieties and mixed salads that Amsterdam has. I also think you get more bang for the buck. It is a chain and I like the place in Alexandria as well.

I have passed by this restaurant multiple times after 6pm only to find it unfortunately closed. Today, I decided that I had to come here and get lunch. What a great decision! This place has a great selection for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. I felt like eating super healthy today, so I went with veg. I was pleased to see that they had the option for whole wheat pitas and I jumped on this opportunity. The service was fast and the lady working at the register was very friendly. On top of all this, it’s relatively cheap! The picture I posted filled me up and it was $ 6.89! They even have bottles of hummus, red wine vinaigrette, and middle eastern dishes available to purchase. A great tip is that you should get an oatmeal raisin cookie with your meal, it was one of the best cookies I have ever had. It was so soft and chewy: D I gave it 4 stars because of the hours, I get out of work late so I can only make it here if I have a lunch break, they should consider extending the hours so more people can enjoy their food!

I really like this place! It is a small store — no sitting area. I have gotten their homemade pita chips many times which are really good! Love their hummus. I have gotten the cheese pita, which was a good snack! I recently tried their pita pizza, which was a yummy healthy alternative to pizza! If you are a hummus fan, check this place out! Wish they had more though!

Great carry out spot. The place is clean, great price, the staff is very friendly and the food is good. My favorites are the turkey hummus veggie and falafel veggie.

I didn’t know this was fast food because what they make here is fresh made. I love, love the spinach and feta cheese toasted wrap. It feels healthy and you feel full after.

I had the gyro hummus veggie pita which was quite good. Even though it had a lot of veggies, the hummus and cheese really accentuated it well and made it very flavorful.

I’m a grad student a GW and I actually missed this place over the summer. I really like the mediterranean sampler(you can add chicken if you’re like me and don’t like to go a meal without some form of meat). May I also recommend the chicken veggie hummus pita? and the white bean salad? Their pitas are a lot better than Pita Pit — a little thicker and don’t break as easily. I also find the food to be higher quality in general. The only downside is there’s nowhere to eat unless you want to eat on a bench in 2000 Penn, or if it’s nice outside there are some tables on the H St side of 2000 Penn.

Good for grabbing a quick bite at a relatively low cost. There is no seating on the premises, and you have to find a bench in the 2000 Penn complex to sit down and eat. I made my first visit there with a professor and our class’s guest speaker that day when I was a student at GW, and have been back since. I usually opt for the chicken spinach sandwich, and it’s delicious. For the price it’s a really good bargain, and most foods it serves are healthy(at least significantly healthier than its neighbor Johnny Rockets). It’s probably ideal for the neighborhood’s white-collar working people because it’s a quick and no-fuss spot for lunch; you would just have to compete for the limited seating outside the restaurant in the general 2000 Penn area(though you can always take your food back to the office). For GW students it may also be a good alternative if you’re like me and have way frequented ABP and Wasabi, and cannot exactly yet afford to dine regularly at Kinkead’s. If you’re running low on time while shuffling between classes, it’s also a healthy version of fast food.

This is fast food so I don’t have very high expectations. For what it is, it’s great! Cheap, fast, and good. Baklava for less than $ 2. I had their breakfast pita which was a bit plain, but really good for less than $ 3. During the short wait, I noticed they have a wide array of other foods like hummus, yogurt, and salads which were all homemade! I wish they had these back in Texas. I did not like how you need to spend at least $ 5 to use your debit card. I understand why they do this, but as far as I know this limit is not allowed in their contract with the card companies

This is one of my go to carry out spots for lunch. I pick my order up and sit down on the back patio of the GW Mall and watch the squirrels fight for left overs in the trash. Yes, I find it quite entertaining. The people are really nice. The place is clean, brand new looking. Chicken gyro with lettuce, tomato, on fresh white puffy Mediterranean bread and a side of tzatziki sauce. $ 5.99 Homemade sugar cookie 79 cents(also chocolate chip, oatmeal, and peanut butter I have yet to try) I had their pizza a while back. Really good, the personal 8 inch, medium crust with cheese, toppings like chicken, pepperoni, spinach, basil, mushrooms, and peppers. They have white pizza too. I don’t mind spending $ 8 to 9 bucks here.

First time to DC, first time here. Was excited to visit because I love pita sandwiches. Tried the Philly; very disappointed. Meat had no seasoning and the pita didn’t seem fresh. Won’t go back the next time I’m in town.

More like 3.5 stars, because I did enjoy my meal, and would definitely go back, but it’s not so amazing that I would give it four or five stars. I got the falafel hummus sandwich, which was big and filling. The pita was soft and tasty, and did not have the weird«doughy» smell that you sometimes get with pitas. Then again, I’m not the pickiest person when it comes to my pita bread, as long as it’s soft and has some flavor. Also, the sandwich came out scalding hot, the filling was plentiful, and I had hummus in every bite. I added a bag of chips and a drink for just under $ 10 total. Still, it’s your typical«mall» or «chain”-type sandwich — I would never say it’s authentic or anything. It was a competent job, but not gourmet. As others have said — there is no seating available other than what’s available in and around the building. I came here on a Thursday evening and 2000 Pennsylvania was pretty much deserted except for Kinkead’s, so my friend and I just parked ourselves on one of the benches outside the store. It was fine for a casual meal.

worst pita i’ve ever had. a friend and i went in and both ordered the chicken hummus pita. our pita had no hummus but was stuffed with provolone cheese. there wasn’t a whole lot of chicken and whatever meat that was part of the pita was really bland. even though it’s right across school, i will never be going back.

I was pretty psyched to learn about this place, because I’ve long hoped for a good Middle Eastern /Mediterranean fast food option in Foggy Bottom. My first experience, though, was kind of a letdown. I had the hummus and veggie sandwich — the hummus was way too runny and among the veggies — lettuce, tomato, and cucumber — lettuce was overwhelmingly dominant. It also comes with cheese, which I gave a shot to, but the taste is kind of odd with hummus. I haven’t tried that before and I think I’d ask to leave that out next time. I’ll go back again and try something else, but for this neighborhood I’ll have to keep wishing for a place as good as, say, Pasha’s on 17th Street NW near Dupont. Roughly 11 bux for the combo including a drink and chips. That money can get you better food elsewhere.

This was a yummy sandwich and a good portion. It filled me up but it wasn’t ginormous. I got the veggie hummus sandwich which was loaded with tomato, onion, green peppers, cucumber, feta, provolone and hummus. It was $ 5.50 and it’s served warm. I only waited about 5 minutes before it was ready. They also have whole wheat pita available just be sure to ask for it. For $ 2.50 more you can add a drink and a bag of chips. They also serve breakfast and have coffee.

Two stars for the first eating experience, but I do plan on going back. Only because Franky N.‘s choice was tasty and it’s convenient for a quick pre-class nosh. I do like their flat pitas; fluffy, not dried out and keeps all of the meat + veggies stuffed neatly inside. The gyro meat is pre-sliced and not off a spit as more authentic kabob houses will serve. But this is Perfect Pita, so that’s OK. I tried to order the chicken gyro + hummus but the request was lost in translation. The chicken gyro meat was juicy and flavorful, but I was lost when it came to the mayonnaise. Not sure what mayo has to do with gyros. Franky N.‘s chicken and spinach melt was three — four stars. Nice and toasty. Well seasoned spinach without being overly salty. It is a good value as the combo includes Rte. 11 chips and any drink which includes bottled iced teas and other non-canned soda options. Don’t plan on «eating in» as there are no tables in this joint.

Great new addition to 2000 Penn, which has a lot more vacancies if any other stores are interested!!! The people behind the counter were very friendly and had lots of great samples out to try. I ultimately got the grape leaves and the falafel, hummus, and veggie pita. I thought the pita would be a bit smaller than it was, so ultimately I got too much food for lunch, but I still ate it all! The layout is a bit odd — Perfect Pita replaces a smoothie place, which replaced something else. At any rate, Perfect Pita built a huge, floor to ceiling wall about 10 feet inside the store with a tiiiiny little window. I thought food might come out the window, but mine, at least, came to the register. It was just a bit odd. No seating, but there are chairs and tables within 2000 Penn(near Johnny Rockets) and outside(near the ABP). I feel like I eat at ABP every day, so this will be a great alternative.
