I never write reviews but I had to after I saw that takorean had less than 4 stars. I LOVE this place. I can’t speak to those who had issue with the chicken, but I crave the hoisin tofu regularly and anytime I am in Navy yard I am excited to get my two tofu and one whatever vegetable special they have tacos. If you are a vegetarian I cannot recommend this spot enough– they even have local beer on tap!

5 star! Healthy food and awesome service. Manager Francisco is always welcoming and has a huge smile. I go here 3 or 4 times a week.

Think«Korean”-style Chipotle. And just like Chipotle, the best bang for your buck is to get the bowl, not the tacos. I’m personally a fan of the half rice half slaw bowl. It adds some nice variety, I think all rice or all slaw can get boring. I haven’t had all the meats but the Pork, Tofu, and seasonal vegetable are all great. Spiced Kale Slaw was the star of the show for me. Perfect amount of spicy! Doesn’t taste like kale(who likes the taste of kale anyways?) For toppings, I always say give me the works. Salsa Roja, Sriracha Sauce, Lime Crema, sesame seeds, and(extra!) fresh cilantro. It’s probably less universally pleasing than Chipotle. It helps if you like spicy and have a palate for these ingredients. That being said, I’d pick this over Chipotle any day. They don’t get my 5th star because it seems just a little pricey and my bowl sizes are sometimes inconsistent depending on who’s working.

We eat at here frequently since we live in the neighborhood and always enjoy it. The staff are very friendly and it’s always quick to get our food. Personally, we have never had a bad meal here. I enjoy the tacos and the bowls but find the corn tortillas a bit dry– I would recommend the slaw and rice bowl. They will give you two different proteins and two different slaws in one bowl for the same price if you ask! They also have a great value beer selection– three stars peppercorn and alagash white, both usually 7 – 8, are 6 dollars here!

I heart Takorean! I know you’re thinking what?! Korean tacos?! Will this work? What does that even taste like?! Don’t be afraid. I have tried them and they’re great! It doesn’t help that it’s located only steps from my apartment in the Navy Yard. I especially love the bulgogi with kimchi. The service is great and the location is nice and near the Anacostia river. Also the food is fairly reasonably priced($ 3 per taco). Perfect for a nice picnic by the water!

I wanted to like it more but it was just bland. The double corn taco skin used for all three soft tacos I bought was the dominant flavor in the taco, whether it was the steak, chicken, or pork. The pork meat was the tastiest but the tacos were about 4 – 5 ounces, I expected a little more heft with 3 for $ 9. Service is great, place is spotless, but it’s just ‘meh’ on the tacos. Maybe I should try something else but figured tacos were their signature dish, so…

Taco Tuesday! $ 2/taco. Full of yumminess. The pork was a tad underseasoned, but the chicken is delish! I had the kale slaw as well as the kimchi and I wanted some super pungent kimchi, but it was slightly understated. I’ll probably add some Sriracha on top of the lime crema. It’s Tuesday again, I know where I’m headed for lunch!

Very impressed! After hearing about TaKorean for years, I finally decided to drive over from Southeast and give their Navy Yard joint a go. Seeing that it was $ 2 taco day, I settled on three tacos rather than the pricier bowls – a pork, a chicken, and a steak. The steak was probably my favorite, with the meat tender and just fatty enough to flavor it well. The corn tortillas were not the best I’ve ever had but were very good, as was the slaw all the tacos were topped with. All this for less than $ 7. Probably a four star review on another day when it’s more expensive, but on $ 2 taco day – I don’t think you can get a lunch of this quality for the price.

Loooove this place so much. I’m sure it’s not really Korean or Mexican, but the food is wonderful. I get a bowl with rice, kale, and tofu, and it lasts two lunches. They also have local kombucha which I was pretty excited about.

Let me preface this review with this. If you’re looking for an authentic korean experience, you’ll wildly be disappointed. If you’re looking for some authentic korean food, you’ll again be wildly disappointed. This is not that, nor does it advertise to be. TaKorean is a innovative and creative blend of different cultures coming together. Bringing Korean food and tacos together. Much like the bulgogi burger at other restaurants, it may take some getting used to if you’re all about the korean bbq. This place offers a «chipotle» style quick service food. Go through the line, either in taco(soft corn tortilla) or rice bowl. The meats are ok, marinated ok, not great, but ok. The«slaw» can be hit or miss. I don’t necessarily mind it, but I can see where it may not be «up to par» for some. The sauces are just that, simple sauces. They do offer a wide variety, but to keep it simple, I went with the siracha. I’ll be honest, if you go into with the mind-set that you’re not looking for actual Korean food, it’s pretty good. I’d come back whenever I’m in the area. If you’re trying to compare it to actual Korean food though, don’t. It’s not Korean BBQ, and it’s not dolsut bimbimbap. They’re not going to lay out a whole bunch of bahn-chan. For what it is, it’s tasty, flavorful, creative, and worth trying out if you’re in the area.

I couldn’t agree more with the review below: They undercook their chicken! I picked up a slaw bowl last night and I was food poisoned. Argh! It had been months since I had visited and it happened that time as well. Cook the chicken an extra 10 – 20 minutes!

I went here before a Nat’s game, and I was excited to try it. It was hyped up, a lot like other places in Union Market(there’s a TaKorean in Union Market, too). But in my opinion, it was overrated. The flavors were bland, and had me craving authentic Korean food. While I definitely think these fast casual places have a place in any cuisine(ex: Cava), I think TaKorean should amp up their food. I’ll try something else if I go back, and do another review if anything changes. That all said, the presentation WAS very pretty.

If you have no taste buds you will enjoy TaKorean. Well maybe just get the tacos instead of the rice bowl like I did so the corn taste overpowers anything else. The rice is… well, it’s rice. It’s good, nicely made, etc., but that should not be the best part of my meal. The bulgogi is straight up bleh. I have thrown some beef on the stove and poured a shit ton of honey and soy sauce on it, and it’s tasted better than this. It was dry, flavorless and boring. The slaws are fine, but nothing to really write about. You can re-create the kimchi slaw at home by putting some cabbage in a bag, pouring in some vinegar and spices(optional) and shaking it up for 5 minutes. I will give the lime crema the benefit of the doubt, even though I did NOT care for it maybe it’s actually good and I just am picky. It tasted like a super watery version of mayo with lime and an expired sweet cream aftertaste so if that’s your thing… Also, I really wish they had some better Toppings… if I’m paying $ 10 for a bowl here instead of at Chipotle or Cava Grill, at least let me load it up. I can choose from more sauce(oh hooray!!) or some dainty cilantro and sesame seeds.

My husband and I eat here probably 2 – 3 times a month, so I figure it’s time to give them a review. The food here is quick, easy, somewhat healthy and quite tasty. It’s korean taco chipotle. Basically you decide on the type of dish(taco, slaw, rice, etc.), the protein(bulgogi, chicken, seasonal veggie, tofu or pork) and the sides you want on it. Nearly every combination is 10 dollars or less. They have a variety of local drink options, chocolate chip cookies and they serve beer on tap! Normally my husband gets a kale slaw bowl with bulgogi and sri racha while I get a romaine slaw with bulgogi. The bulgogi is great, not too spicy and definitely enough to fill you up. The brussels sprouts are a bit underwhelming, but that’s one of the few complaints I have. Other minor issues: I wish they had longer hours! We’ve gotten here are 9pm a few times for food and been shut out– please stay open until 10! Also, there aren’t a ton of options for toppings– might be nice to have a bit more options.

This place is delicious! If your a fan of chipotle then you will definite love this Korean remix version of them. The setup is very similar to chipotle even down to how you choose your meal. The combinations are delicious and you will want more. The only drawbacks you would find here is there is limited seating. I personally come here at 11am when it opens and around 1130 most of the seats are gone. You definitely should not assume there will be seating available if you come here during rush hour. Another place where this place lacks is the portions and pricing. Now I am not a big person with a big appetite but I was not completely filled with my order. Granted it was a nice amount of food but compared to its twin brother chipotle the portions did not leave me stuffed. I do recommend coming here if your working in dc and your not far.

I’m going to attempt avoiding comparing this restaurant to certain other assembly-line made-to-order elevated fast food style establishments, although we all know that’s it’s similar and great and hey, it works! Great Korean fusion — just enough authentic elements but with a healthier twist, especially the kale slaw and brown nice. Almost goes without saying that this place was awesome and I left full and happy and would happily go back. I am unhappy about one thing: that so far this is a DC-only establishment, with already 3 opened up in the area, with no visible expansion in the area, especially Baltimore! Please, please, PLEASE open one up in the charm city, we’re in desperate need of more Korean food, and will be so happy to have you!

Awesome place. Chipotle concept but Korean style. I chose tofu, brown rice and kale slaw for a half and half bowl(half rice half slaw). Tasted so fresh! Sauces are great too — lime crema and salsa roja, and opted for the sesame seeds and lime crema(all included). I was in and out in about 5 minutes, even with a line. $ 9.90 including tax. Good indoor and outdoor seating and the park nearby is great to sit outside and eat too. I wish they had one where I live in Raleigh!

Much better than I thought and the name! Price: OK. I ordered 3 tacos. Chicken, pork, beef. $ 10 Taste: Great! Koran BBQ does not go wrong. I prefer Korean Brito than Taco because of the stung corn flavor. Lots of vegetables. Not too spicy. Quantity: Pretty small. I’d like to eat 6 for a meal. Customer service: Just ok. Not so friendly. Atmosphere: A little bit fancier fast food kind. A good spot with mates. Parking: Street or garage.

This is one of those food trucks that caught on and became a restaurant. My main knock on it is that it still seems to have a food-truck sized menu. You’re choosing a protein over a base, and getting some greens and a sauce on top, and that’s about it. You can get a vegetable as your protein, but not in addition to one. I think I could expect a bit more options to throw in there, comparing to other fast casual type places, especially for the money. The stuff they had, though, was quite delicious. The tofu is marinaded in something that is characteristically sweet and spicy for Korean. The kale you can get on top of it was definitely the best of the greens. And I can’t say no to sesame seeds and spicy sauces. Options are clearly labeled as vegan, and plenty of them are so. The Navy Yard location is getting in on the ground floor of a nice and still developing area. There aren’t a ton of great food options around(especially from a vegetarian perspective), so this is not a bad one if you find yourself in the area for one of the many things that might draw you here.
