Sweetflow Mobile offers tasty gourmet salads that are absolutely fabulous, and that are dished out quickly(maximum 10 min wait). But I’m afraid in almost all other aspects of service the truck falls far short: 1) it is often late(15 – 30 minutes) or cancels. This does not work well with my limited lunch schedule, and when it cancels I’m left without my preferred lunch and must instead eat Asian bistro again… I’d advise the truck manager to wake up the extra 15 – 20 minutes earlier so lateness can be avoided. Of more concern however, is the truck’s constant break downs. The long hiatus back in December/January was unacceptable. Please buy a new truck and address this, rather than slowly destroying your customers’ loyalty with cancellations. I’ve already had several co-workers opt not to come anymore due to this high chance of being late/canceled. 2) It sells out quickly. Sometimes in as little as 20 – 30 minutes. This is also unacceptable. As you need to buy a new truck anyway, please buy a much larger one or find a new way to pack/store them in a more efficient manner in the truck. This constant high risk of sell out also undermines customer loyalty and limits your customer base. 3) Prices are high. It’s always a pain to pay $ 10 for a salad. It is a VERY good salad, but still I’d argue that $ 1 – 2 reduction is in order, especially given that the other food trucks are cheaper.

This review is for the salads, not the Sweetflow. In summary, underwhelming and disappointing. They do not even come close to the salads offered at the brick and mortar locations. I got the guacamole greens, which sounded delicious but was totally subpar. First of all, the avocado and chicken were not bite-sized, and I don’t remember seeing any knives. There might have been some, but I don’t remember. And the tortilla chips were sitting between the green and the avocado/chicken, ensuring a soggy mess. And the salads are much smaller than the store ones, in packages not conducive to shaking ones’s salad into an assembly of dressing-coated, ingredient-loaded bites for the optimal salad-eating experience. Like I said, disappointing. In Sweetgreen’s defense, their store-location assembled salads are absolutely delicious(and much larger) than what the truck dishes out. Maybe that’s why the truck-salads seem so mediocre. But even if you go in with an open mind, I can assure you that in no alternate universe would the salad I ate be worth the $ 9 I paid for it.

First, I was afraid. I was petrified. Already been to TangySweet & knew that froyo’d make me die. And then I found SweetFlowMobile, servin’ the best froyo I’ve had now go! Walk out the door! Head on down to Crystal City Farmers Market Tuesdays after work! If you are ever in the vicinity of this mobile frozen yogurt truck, get some. I get a $ 5 cup with agave, mango, and candied walnuts. I also follow them on twitter. They actually tweet back.

The $ 2 cone is where it’s at! Nice tangy flavor and you can follow the truck on Twitter.

How do you know when the end is near? When there are mobile frozen yogurt trucks. Yes, it’s one of the Four Foodcarts of the Apocalypse. Most likely Famine. So I did a little Internet research to determine our fate. According to Erin Zimmer of Serious Eats( ), SweetFlow is the mobile food cart of DC’s SweetGreen salad-froyo chain. As if it’s not bad enough that they’ve expanded into 3 locations, now they’re coming after you directly. It’s the same yogurt that you’d find at the brick-and-mortar restaurants so if you’re already a fan of SweetGreen, then you’d no doubt be a fan of SweetFlow. You can even follow them on Twitter(@sweetflowmobile). Seriously, our days are numbered. [Original Visit: January 6, 2010, Last Sighted near 17th and L St at 1:30PM.]
