Okay for hotel food, though very over priced. I expect high prices, but not $ 23 for a breakfast buffet. Mostly, I was disappointed that Stone’s Throw discriminated its client base when I dined there. I was attending Animé USA and there was a UN Model Youth Convention taking place that same weekend. The Hostess seated all the UN Youth attendees in seats right next to the floor to table windows where they had free access to see and be seen. All clients in cosplay were sent to the back, dark recesses of the establishment, far away from the convention floor. If you’ve ever attended an Animé or comic convention, you know that half the joy is seeing everyone else in their cosplays. The UN Youth, who were dressed in very classy business attire got that privileged, in spite wanting to have nothing to do with the Animé USA attendees. It’s obvious that the hostess placed image over clientele. And, at the prices of their meals, that’s understandable. Even if you aren’t eating at the buffet, breakfast for two comes out to around $ 50. They wanted to make sue that people who they viewed could«afford» their prices weren’t uncomfortable with the less desirable customers. While I was told that the hostess seated based off a rotation, we sat at our in the back table for over an hour and watched as the hostess repeated segregated the UN Youth to the front where they were visible to the crowd and all the cosplayers to the back part of the establishment. The waitress said, ‘We love Animé USA!” but the actions of the employees really said otherwise. I’d like to remind Stone’s Throw that a professional business outfit costs about $ 150 — $ 200. An average cosplay costume costs around $ 200 — $ 400 in materials to create, plus the wearer’s time in creating it.

Service was a complete disaster. Food took over 80 minutes to arrive. They refilled our water once after 60 minutes had passed. The food was average of I’m being generous and half of it was cold. Would definitely steer clear of this one.

I had lunch here today, and felt it was average, hence the three star review. The crabcake was average and the fries were very good. I do believe that for the price the crabcake should have been substantially better. The flavor was average, the filler with minimal, and the roll was not the freshest I’ve ever had. The service was friendly and attentive and the waitress was very polite and not obtrusive especially when she saw I was having a business discussion. Overall, this place is average and spending $ 23 seems a little high price for the quality of the food.

This is a brunch review, only, and by hotel brunch standards, it’s pretty good. But still pricey, as hotel brunches tend to be. The restaurant offers three general brunch buffet tiers(and some a la carte). The tiers are you can get their oatmeal and yogurt cold options brought to you, you can help yourself to them for a little more, or you can have, for around $ 23, the whole buffet. I got the whole buffet which has oatmeal and toppings, bread pudding, yogurts, cottage cheese, and fruit. You also got scrambled eggs, bacon, etc. And there’s an omelette station with an omelette chef. I think there’s a waffle maker, too. Coffee and tea are good; the tea is Taylors of Harrogate, a more premium brand(for a teabag). I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to eat here when there are more affordable, novel places in DC. But for a hotel brunch — and this is strictly from a hotel brunch perspective — it’s fine. Would be nice if they threw in a mimosa or something, though.

Didn’t dine in, just had a reception there. The finger food was pretty good. Drink options not bad. A-OK!

Came over the weekend and had both lunch and brunch here. The lunch was okay and pretty average. The 5 stars are without a doubt for the brunch! I had really low standards set since this is a restaurant in a hotel. I was so surprised by the quality of the food. For starters there is a huge variety. I loved that there was a non pork meat option. The apple chicken sausages were delish! They had a variety of breads and muffins. I tried a home made banana nut muffin and it tasted so fresh, no boxed chemicals! I also really loved the bread pudding. It was warm and tasted so good I wished I went up for seconds. I literally enjoyed everything I tried. I also made a really yummy fruit salad topped with their wide variety of their dried fruits and nuts. They had dried cherries, how can I complain!!! The brunch buffet does not disappoint! Be aware though, this is not a boozy brunch type of place. No mimosas or Bellinis. Only non alcoholic drinks on the menu. Decent service and a great option when staying at the Marriott Wardman Park.

Pretty standard hotel bar and restaurant. Not where you’d go for a real classy meal or cheap drinks. You go because it’s there in the hotel. Pretty good calamari rings, though small portions and wicked expensive. The bartender was slow, humorless, and rude.

I visited the Marriott Wardman Park for a conference and ended up eating here a few times. I enjoyed their breakfast buffet. The selection is small but it is suitable for a busy business person with limited time. I also ate at the bar on several days. The food is overpriced and the service is excruciatingly slow but the food is pretty good. I had tuna bites, braised lamb and beef mignonettes. I especially enjoyed the beef mignonettes. They had also created some signature cocktails for our conference group, but I didn’t have any of those. Those in my group were happy with their selections but were also displeased with the service overall.

Stone’s Throw is as good as any average hotel restaurant. It’s overpriced, but that’s par for the course inside a hotel. I got the eggs benedict on my first trip. It was pretty good. On my 2nd trip, I hit the buffet up. Tons of food for the gluten in you. Everything you’d expect in a hotel breakfast buffet. If you are at this hotel, and want easy and convenient, Stone’s throw does breakfast right. For lunch or dinner, don’t be lazy. You can do tons better in this area.

My family had the brilliant idea of eating at the hotel before heading to the airport so we wouldn’t have to spend so much on food and would have more selection, etc. This turned out to be a terrible idea. The breakfast buffet was $ 22 per person and the meals to order were not much less. There is no option to order a la carte and the cost was excessive. The food was bland. The staff were kind and the place was clean, but I can’t in good faith recommend this restaurant.

Outside the fact that the bar bill can be put directly on my room tap, there isn’t anything going for Stone’s Throw. Be prepared to wait… especially if you just want a drink. Yes, they are busy, but being actively ignored because I come to the bar for a drink isn’t something that is going to get them extra stars. Food is eh bar food. Prices are outrageous, but may be in line with the rest of DC. Stone’s Throw clearly survived thanks hotel guests unable or unwilling to go elsewhere. What a shame!

I really want to give more than 3 stars because the waiter we had was very nice and sincerely cared for his guests. We had the breakfast buffet twice. It was upscale and excellent… however, $ 23 is just outrageous. Maybe they should have a more basic version for less, because when I’m paying $ 23 bucks for breakfast I’m eating enough so I won’t be hungry until dinner! The other items on the bfast menu were also outrageous. $ 16 for oatmeal? Gimme a break! Nice place though, but hard to enjoy if you’re on your own dime and not on a business expense account.

This review is for breakfast only. I stayed here for a conference and at breakfast at the Stone’s Throw twice. First of all, the restaurant was completely unprepared and understaffed for a large conference. We had to wait 5 minutes to be seated both days even though there were plenty of empty tables available. We ordered basic breakfasts — eggs, hash browns, toast and bacon — and it took about 15 minutes for them to come out. Again, very poor service for a hotel that is anticipating a large conference. People have sessions to get to! The food was very average which is lame considering I’m paying 17 bucks for toast and eggs. The eggs were extremely runny the second day I was there.

I was at the hotel for a conference and needed a place to grab lunch while the hotel staff was cleaning my room. I opted for the cobb salad. Lovely salad. Juicy pieces of chicken, and large pieces of avocado and blue cheese. The dressing was unappetizingly lumped on top of the salad(not tossed and not on the side, kind of a weird middle ground) but was much better than I expected. I thought the service was great. My diet coke never remained empty and one waiter even exchanged the glass(without me asking) when there was too much ice(you know, because you’ve had it refilled so many times that now there is an iceberg of ice in the glass). They left me alone for the most part(which was good since I wanted to work in peace). It is overpriced. But it’s a hotel, so I expect that.

I had a filet that was among the best that I have eaten. The meat was very tasty, tender and grilled to perfection. The meal went beyond my expectation for a hotel restaurant. The service was prompt and courteous with a flare of alacrity and willingness to please. I avoided the house salad because it contained cucumbers that never liked me, and went for the Caesar salad which was fresh and crispy, served on a cold plate. I would have preferred a little more dressing, but the amount was close enough that I did not ask for extra. The ambiance was pleasant with openly displayed wine racks and good lighting. The facility had a very clean feel to it. If you want a good filet that is not over priced, you’ll love this place

I have no idea what other reviewers are talking about. Maybe they have nasty palates, ruined by junk food or horrible home cooking. But the food here is wonderful. I took my fiancèe here for dinner(out first dinner date, and here first dinner date ever) and we both loved it. We had the fried calamari, the seafood fettuccine, and two Bloody Mary’s. The portions are HUGE, so get split portions if you’re eating with another person, or half if it’s just you. That’s what we did. Wonderful food, A+ service, and a great experience.

I had the crab cakes, good but didn’t like whatever the sauce was. It wasn’t mentioned on the menu so it was an unpleasant surprise.

I don’t even know what a meatball casserole is but what I got did not seem like it should be called that. It was pretty bad in taste as well. Syeed was very friendly behind the bar however. Just not in any way impressed…

OVERPRICED. The breakfast buffet is $ 20 and the spread isn’t anything all that spectacular. For a $ 20 breakfast I’d expect many many stations like at a casino buffet but the buffet area is barely bigger than your standard high school cafeteria lunch line. Utterly ridiculous. As for the quality of the breakfast food, it’s decent but nothing particularly delicious.

I really want this hotel restaurant to succeed. It has a great design, a great layout, and in general, it is super clean. However, there are a lot of things that can be done better. The wait staff, well, is just plain odd. So the first time I try this place, the waiter seemed like he had no idea what he was doing. Like he didn’t know what waiting on a table entailed and the«young lady» maitre’d, the one bright spot in this restaurant, had to come back many times. Dude would literally just walk up to the table whenever he felt like it and stood there… then I had to ask… «do you want me to order now?» Then we had to ask for bread. They seemed very stingy with the bread. Since for a table of two, they gave us two rolls… at the same time our entrees came out. My cobb salad was soso — I know, it’s hotel food and should be bad and horribly overpriced. But a lot of the lettuce was browning I also didn’t like the fact that I ordered water, and they gave me an iced tea and charged me for it anyways. The second time I was here, again, the«young lady» maitre’d shined. Whereas the old lady maitre’d took a very long time to seat the table in front of me and totally ignored me and about 2 other folks behind me(there were plenty of tables available, the place is huge!). So when the old lady maitre’d went to finally seat the group in front, the«young lady» swooped in to take care of us. This time, I had a much better waiter, and he convinced me to get the lunch«buffet» which included drinks. The buffet epitomized«you get what you pay for» — it was all sandwich, and a little pasta. The one time i should have loaded up on were the brownies… they were spectacular. Here’s another weird thing. Within 2 minutes of getting my food. I already had a check and a place for me to sign… clearly, this was meant for another table. I couldn’t find the credit card #, but it was for another table, so i had to straighten that out too. I don’t expect on ever coming back!
