I love how cozy this place is. They are very friendly and will strike up conversation. The smoothies are good, though the come from a base I was told they’re dairy free. The coffee is very good and fresh! Sandwiches are yummy and tea selection is great!

My go to is their iced chai latte. If you’re looking for food, order their sandwiches. There’s also outdoor seating. Just walk up the steps to the back end of Sidamos and the door will lead to a ‘garden’ view with tables, chairs, and red umbrellas.

Laid-back and quaint atmosphere. Had their«morning chai» — what they call their dirty chai. The drink was pretty good, better than what I’ve had at most places.

This is a cosy place to sit and chat, and the coffee is good. They also do an Ethiopian coffee ceremony. It was interesting to see and forces people to look up from their reading when the lady goes around and everyone wafts the smoke to smell it, but if smoke makes you cough, you should probably leave when it starts. They prop the door open so the fire alarm doesn’t go off. The people behind the counter are nice and help you pick what to order.

I love Sidamo! Such a gorgeous little café. The staff has always been extremely helpful. Their teas are delicious, as are their sandwiches.

I love this place! Today was my first time coming and I am already in love. It is a small cozy place with an outside deck. The interior reminds me of a cabin bed and breakfast dinner area. It’s so lovely! I can’t believe I haven’t known about this all this time! Quite excited to come back.

The best coffee, I have ever had. If I lived in DC I would have had my morning coffee from here everyday.

We are from California and had a rental in the neighborhood for a week. This is some of the best coffee I have ever had!

The coffee is so delicious here! Their chai lattes are also delicious and just the right amount of spicy. It seems to be family owned and he service is always friendly, even when it’s packed. Love this spot.

This tiny little place has great atmosphere and the staff are very welcoming. Every Sunday, they have a traditional Ethiopian Coffee ceremony, which is really neat to see and be a part of. They roast fresh beans over an open fire and share with everyone in the room! It’s one of those things you’d better appreciate while in DC! I recommend checking it out. The man behind the counter, whom I assume is the owner, was very accommodating and, if you ask, he will happily share the origin behind the ceremony and what it’s like when done in Ethiopia. Very cool experience.

My experience here was short, and I can’t comment on more than just a cup of coffee, but that was some shmexcellent coffee. The store has that je né sais quoi, where you walk in and just KNOW that this is not your run-of-the-mill coffee joint with a subpar brew and hipster baristas that relay more on the scene of the place than the product. We ordered two cups of coffee to go, which came out piping hot. I did miss having a milk substitute like almond or soy, but the coffee was so good I’m not even going to hold that against them. It was just the perfect strength, not too bitter but not weak, and you could taste the varying layers and hints of flavors that other places claim to offer with their«specialty blends,» that always fall short. Price was right too.

The chai latte is the best I’ve ever had. I love the spicy, robust taste. If I lived closer, I’d go here often.

I love their blueberry tea! I normally get mine iced. They have a cozy atmosphere to meet up with a friend for a tea. Their cookies isn’t always the same daily, but when they have molasses cookies– you’ll bet I’ll treat myself to one! Just realized it’s been a while I’ve been to Sidamo’s for their blueberry iced tea. I’m going to stop by this weekend! Have you tried Sidamo’s? If so, what’s your favorite(tea only) and maybe I’ll give your favorites a try! :)

This place is amazing. All of the staff are Ethiopian, and they really created a calm rustic feel. A+ for ambiance. They also know their way around a chai. It is one of the best I have ever had with a perfect balance of chai to milk ratio! The flavor is not too sweet perfectly steamed milk, a touch of spice, with a subtle buttery after taste. It goes down very smooth. I also ate the veggie sandwich, very tasty with avocado, tomato lettuce, lentils, and pesto. It came with a bit of pasta salad which was dry and bland. Didn’t matter anyway because I really enjoyed the sandwich. I definitely recommend this place.

I’ve been wanting to check out Sidamo for quite some time, as this family-owned coffee shop seems to be a favorite among the locals. Besides offering coffee, smoothies, and other hot/cold beverages, they also have breakfast and lunch items(sandwiches) on the menu. I had the Sidamo Chai Leben, which comes in one size only — this took about a good 30 minutes to be made, as it was a combination of using housemade chai spices(rather than the syrup) and whole milk, in addition to there being already a queue for the making of the drinks. Once I received the drink, I loved how it was literally extra extra hot! I think I should have mixed the drink before taking a sip, as it seemed as if all the ‘goodies’/grounded spices floated towards the bottom(and the last few sips was actually tasty); I thought it would have been a bit more creamier and milk-based, as that was how the beverage was described. The café itself is small with a few tables, and it had a very laid-back, comfy atmosphere — you can spend a good chunk of time either doing work, catching up with friends, or just taking a little time-out to enjoy your beverage. The staff were super friendly and kind, and I just wished this place stayed open a little longer! +laid-back atmosphere +friendly staff +extremely limited residential parking off of H

4.5 stars… only because of the lack of space! Otherwise, it would be a definite 5! Really nice staff, delicious breakfast sandwiches & the BEST coffee I have ever had… black, no sugar no cream… not needed! We’re only visiting DC, but after being here a few days already I wish we would have discovered this place sooner! Won’t eat a quick breakfast anywhere else!

Friday, 1:00PM. Quickie: + Coffee quality + Service – Cleanliness – Slow turnaround – Lagging wi-fi And then??? Cozy feel and nice staff. I’ll have to be closer to the area on a more frequent basis before returning to Sidamo. ********** Stuffed my face in: 1. Iced latte — Burnt taste. Constructive comments: *Option for compost and recycling(more clear).

I’m so glad I live down the street from this place. It is the epitome of the neighborhood coffee shop I have always dreamed of. I ordered the Sidamo Chai and was completely blown away. It was spicy and aromatic – just how I like my Chai. The people working there are so wonderful and kind. There is also a lovely«secret garden» in the back. It isn’t really a secret, but I like to think of it as such.

This may be a good daily neighborhood spot… a few folks walked in while we were there and appeared to have a great rapport with the(assumed) owner. But, that wasn’t my experience. The pricing is unclear. The chalkboard lists options for breakfast which are… all the same? Notes about $.50 are scribbled everywhere — but get to the register and you’re only provided the one(more expensive) option. That option? A microwaved bagel with prepackaged egg and american cheese. Not quite worth the $ 5 tag. Horrible. The coffee… not amazing. It also took a ridiculous amount of time to both take and receive my order. It seems like a family affair, which seems at a sacrifice to the service. Seating is limited and things get crammed quickly on a weekend morning. Passable and even frustrating experience all together. Would go again in a pinch, but only for a regular coffee, which would take forever…
