The food was just ok. The delivery guy called me to say he’s here only for me to open the door and he wasn’t. He arrived about 3minutes later and took his sweet time getting out of the car to driver my food with a frown. I guess he was expecting me to walk out to the street to pick my food from the car so he wouldn’t have to walk up to my door.

I typically order from Sammy’s when I am around the Brookland NE area(I have family over there), however I was at home in the Columbia Heights NW area and looking for a reputable Chinese spot, so I choose my staple: Sammy’s. Prior to placing my order, I asked if they deliver in my area. I was told they do deliver because it is within the 5 mile radius. I google it, my home to Sammy’s is roughly 3.2 miles depending on traffic. OK, Great. I was told it would 35 – 40 minutes. An hour LATER, I receive a phone call from the driver telling me was out of range and he would not deliver my food. I ask why and he said its 6 miles away, which is not true. Confused, I call the store where I spoke with the same individual because she said, oh you are too far away today, because I have one driver. I politely asked, could I have received a phone call and said sorry and hung up. Normally, I have pleasant experiences with Sammy’s but this evening was bad customer service. and communication. I am disappointed.

I’m sorry, but I just had to create a Unilocal to leave this review. I know carry outs don’t serve the finest of foods, but this carry out is absolutely gross. There was a bug inside of my food on the container & my sweet potato pie had ice sickles on top of it. I ordered the seafood platter which was completely bland and rubbery and I couldn’t even cover up the taste with some cocktail sauce or tartar sauce because they were frozen. They forgot my order of seasoned fries and I didn’t notice until they left unfortunately. I pretty much got stuck with ordering at this spot because it was late and they were one of the only few that delivered. Their prices are super cheap, so that’s a plus, but overall, I definitely wouldn’t recommend eating here. Stick to your local carry out if their open.

Agh how much do you expect from a corner chinese food delivery/take out. I got the beef fried rice to go. And when I got to the office, it didn’t really look like a fried rice per say. It was yellow and the rice was hard and the beef was rubberish. Not so good for appetite to bite into. Would I come back to? Absolutely NOT!

I moved to Brookland in June 2014 about a block from Sammy’s. The place has always intrigued me — a full American-Chinese menu and burgers AND pizza… and. seafood? Next thing you know they’ll offer massage and a General Tso’s chicken smoothie hahaha. Kidding. I sized the place up pretty well — sorta cheap maybe some things that might fix a craving, but easily the possibility of having a bad experience. The chance for the latter seemed high however the perfect Sammy’s situation finally came. Girlfriend gone, no food in the house, most dishes dirty, kinda late. So I called Sammy’s for Moo Shoo vegetable. It was surprisingly good! Not a low sodium food for sure but it hit the spot. The rice pancakes weren’t the best — seemed like giant packaged wonton wrappers. But once I packed them with plum sauce and veggies I couldn’t stop. That said I’m not surprised at the hilariously bad experiences some people have written about. Maybe someday I’ll try the pizza but hard to compete with Menomale next door. Overall good experience but use your head — a place that literally offers like 70 things can’t do them all well or guarantee a high standard of freshness. No problems with customer service.

SLAMDUNK! Best quality to cost ratio in the DC area. They offer excellent lunch specials below $ 6 and if you simply pick up your order, you get a free 2 Liter Soda. I would recommend this place if your looking for some good food, good times, and decent quality. I recommend the Mozzarella Sticks, General Tso’s and Munchers.

Tonight I ordered takeout and the food took exactly an hour to come but my order wasn’t full filled and when I called and spoke about it after it was paid for all they could say was they were busy and they’ll make it up next time. where is the customer service! ! Food comes with a beverage and for you to leave the beverage and not refund the money is just terrible !!! And to say that least the food was only ok!

Via foodler, I ordered the pork with mixed veggies combo, two spring rolls, and chicken teriyaki. The chicken teriyaki wasn’t cooked all the way through and immediately went in the trash. The entrée was basically rubbery pork and fluorescent yellow rice although the broccoli was crisp. I didn’t eat very much of anything but apparently enough to end up on the toilet for several hours. Good thing I didn’t order the Pu Pu Platter!

Ever since Danny’s closed on H Street, this place has been a GREAT replacement for Chinese delivery. I have not tried the American food but the Hot and Sour soup and the Moo Shu pork or vegetables are my favorites. They also do brown rice if you want. Yum!

It took over 50 minutes to get my order delivered. The entrée was soggy/congealed and my rice was overcooked. I understand it’s Friday and folks are busy but when I called at the 30 minute mark I was told the driver was enroute. They are 5 blocks away. The driver wouldn’t get out of his car to hand me the order either. Not happening again.

Not only was the food horrible, but they pad the check. My meal was $ 7.75 and when I asked the lady why my check came to $ 9.85 she said it was because of taxes. Then I asked for a receipt and she tore off a sheet of receipt paper, hand wrote $ 9.85 in pen on it, and handed it back to me. My order was for the fried seafood platter, instead of coming with the crab cake, they instead put some flat deformed vegetable cake with my order, the fried fish tasted like frozen fish sticks, and the fried oysters were over cooked. The only thing edible on my plate were the French fries. Never going back here again.

Worst chinese food I ever had — sesame chicken was tough and over cooked, steamed rice was overlooked, veg friend rice — the veggies weren’t chopped up — very weird, and the crab Rangoon had no flavor. Also they didn’t even add the fortune cookie :(. Also the delivery was late — by 20 minutes — not impressed!

Okay. I ordered Sesame beef, a steak and cheese egg roll and cheesecake. The beef was probably 90% breading(I didn’t even know it would be breaded based on how they described it on the website I used to order) and 10% mystery meat. To top it off, the sauce was just way too sweet. The egg roll was super greasy inside and out. I understand that it’s fried, but this was disgusting. And my slice of cheesecake was frozen solid. Apparently that’s how they always deliver it. Despite all of these issues they refused to refund me, and instead offered me a $ 3 coupon as if I would dare eat anything from this restaurant ever again.

Ordered 40 bucks worth of Chinese from them last night. You have to know that any of these places that serve every type of food under the sun are going to be pretty bad. But we fell prey to the flyer in the mailbox and a dozen Miller Lites. The food was so tasteless and dry that the only edible bits were the rice and fortune cookies. Even our dog refused the boneless spare ribs and the chicken teriyaki — I have never seen her refuse anything that was meat based. We were laughing about it at the time, but not when we had to walk our butts to Taylor’s to get more food. The general tso chicken was almost edible, completely tasteless, but almost edible, that is until the sauce started to congeal like it had been in the fridge for 3 days. Mind you this happened within 10 – 15 minutes of getting our food. I might get up the nerve to try their pizza some late night… after a few more Miller Lites.

The best delivery Chinese food that I’ve had in DC after a year. They haven’t failed me yet.

Never got the chance to try any food… Driver calls and says he’s outside, I get downstairs, no driver. I wait about 5 minutes and he pulls up. I’m standing at the front entrance, clearly visible from his car, wave to get his attention, he waves back, but doesn’t get out of the car. I open the door to signal again. He still doesn’t move. I open the door again to yell«hello!» He yells back, if I want my food I have to come outside to his car to get it. WHAT?! You’re the DELIVERY guy. I’ve already paid a delivery fee and tip and you can’t DELIVER my food to my door? So instead of walking up to the door, he just sits there, insisting on arguing. I have no time for those games. So I just called grub hub and got a refund. Won’t be ordering from there again, obviously. Smh…

SUPERCHEAP!!! $ 5~ for huge portions of lunch specials and $ 9~ for dinner portions. $ 4~ for big olé app portions. It’s exactly what you would expect for hole in the wall chinese takeout: Delicious, greasy, low quality high volume, fried goodness. Shrimp toast — be still my heart. SOOOOO crispy and shrimp-y. Exactly what I wanted at the price I wanted it. Totally don’t understand why they gave me ketchup… but w/e lol. The Szechuan pork was a HUUUUUUUGE portion. Wow. The fried rice was soft and delicious. The pork was OMGGOOD. Shockingly more tasty than chinese places that would have charged me twice as much. Fast delivery! Even though they were coming from NE to my place in SE they beat the estimated delivery time by a good 15 mins. Considering its delivery and so cheap I feel like I probably would never want to step foot in this place… but if i close my eyes and think of beijing, I’m aaaaaall good.

Fast, Cheap, … pretty good. Pretty large selection of American, Chinese,(other?) offerings. I had a beef sandwich and a salad. The sandwich was on decent bread, had an ample amount of meat, which tasted quite superb, actually. Grease is Good! And the salad was large and fine, not great, just fine.
