Ever since my husband and I tried Rito Loco at Unilocal’s Jingle Wheel Rock, his nightly conversations with me have centered around three things: 1) how mad he is that he only got second place in his fantasy football league, 2) DC sports, and 3) tacos… but more specifically Rito Loco’s tacos.
He hyped it up so much that I decided to go back for a refresher after the Miracle on Seventh Street Mania. I decided to go for the 3 for $ 10 which was an awesome and filling meal.
1) OG Beef — This is the traditional ground beef soft tacos I grew up with, only so much better. I could literally eat a hundred of these and die happy. These in particular are the ones that the hubster can’t stop dreaming about.
2) Mojito Chicken — Out of all three these are my least favorite but I think it’s a preference thing. I’m just not a fan of pulled chicken it’s too squishy for my taste. That being said my friends devoured this. It had a very light and fresh flavor.
3) Caribbean Fish — My favorite type of fish taco — lightly grilled (none of that breaded stuff), and seasoned with spices. They cook on coconut oil which adds a nice tropical sweetness throughout.
For those looking for great tacos in Shaw (or any other neighborhood), I highly recommend Rito Loco. Until I see you again…
