This place is pretty good. I’ve been to the bar, I’ve brought my 7 year old nephews and I’ve also eaten here alone. So it’s good for everyone! I seem to always stray towards the oyster po’ boy– because the oysters are huge and cooked very well! I also ordered the beignets once and they were sweet and doughy the way I like them! Service here could be picked up a bit but the staff is young and helpful when needed.

I ordered via Über Eats and got the chicken po boy requesting no slaw. The food came with slaw but I tried to eat it anyways. I could only eat half the sandwich, as the slaw was really overpowering. it was also really sweet. But the chicken was good and I liked the bread. If only it wasn’t ruined by the slaw, this place would be an easy 4 – 4.5 stars. Beignets were pretty tasty. I’m sure they would have been better hot though. But that’s the price of delivery.

It did not live up to the hype. I don’t plan on coming back. See my pictures for details on the food. The service is meh. The food is average, if not below average. The sandwiches have way too much bread. Overall, not a memorable experience. You have to at least try it once. We took it as take out so maybe that is on us but I won’t go for a second try. I hope they improve or step up their game so they don’t lose their loyal customers.

This place is very cool and updated inside. I ordered the Shrimp PoBoy and it was very good. I would recommend it. The rest of my party ordered PoBoys as well and every enjoyed the food. The service was a little slow because the bartender was also serving tables, but it was still an overall good experience.

I don’t think I’ve ever had this bad of an experience before at a restaurant. I walked into this place with a bunch of friends and were not greeted for several minutes. After awkwardly standing around, we were then told to go upstairs if we wanted to dine in. Then we sat at a table and literally just waited around for 15 minutes before a server even greeted us. This place doesn’t have A/C either so I was dying from the hot summer humidity. You would think that the waiter would at least have the decency to quickly bring us some water over. After sitting around for an interminable amount of time, my friend finally goes downstairs to get a waiter to take our orders… Guess what? They forgot about us… Then this guy doesn’t bring us any water for an additional 15 minutes. We get our waters and sit around for food to come out for an additional 30 minutes and at this point we’ve probably waited an hour plus and now I’m starting to get pissed. Not only have waited for a ridiculous amount of time, the water in our cups taste off… I mean how can a restaurant operate if they’re not hygienic? Because of the amount of time I’ve already committed to getting some friggin’ shrimp po boys, I convince our group to wait a little longer for our food because there’s no way our food can take longer that it already has. Then another 30 minutes pass and our group is now in an uproar and walk out. Worst experience I’ve had in terms of service in a long long time. Do not come here if you actually want to eat food.

Really nice staff and the shrimp po boys are amazing. Lived in South Carolina for a bit and this place can just about match what they got on offer along the swampy southern coast(oyster po boys are the exception, the south has a lock on that).

I was so excited to try this place after reading about it on Unilocal. However, I was extremely disappointed. I spent roughly $ 60 before tip for my mother and me to eat. We ordered the gumbo and crawfish egg rolls for appetizers since they seemed very popular and our server said they were good. Both were left on the table after a few bites. I have family from New Orleans and I’ve had good gumbo. What they put in that bowl and called gumbo is downright shameful. I forgave them and said«I came here for the po boy, that has to be good». Wrong again! Neither my mom nor I enjoyed our sandwiches. We wrapped them to go and had for lunch the following day. They were surprisingly better the second day, but still not worth the hype that Unilocal would lead you to believe. I believe in redemption and am going to try this place again and only order a po boy. I may have been tainted by those awful appetizers.

We had the wing flight(loved the bourbon, liked the jerk, could pass on the Carolina barbecue) and all of the wings were well cooked and sauces had a great consistency. We also had the voodoo wings which where the spiciest flavor they have and they were delicious. My boyfriend had a blackened catfish poboy and he said it was good. Service was quick and polite and the atmosphere is relaxed and stylish upstairs. We will probably be back.

I’ve had this place bookmarked for months and finally found myself on H street with a friend who was willing to try it. Beer and wine is limited. They seem to be more focused on cocktails. We shared some wings. They were nothing special, but the jerk sauce was really good. We also shared some grits. They were tasty, but beware that the side portion is pretty huge. I had the hot sausage po boy and it really hit the spot. The sausage was very smoky with a little bit of a kick, and the sauce with the peppers, and lettuce, and tomato really rounded out the taste. I also loved the roll. It was just a really well done sandwich.

This was my first try with this restaurant, but can I just say how BOMB the grits are. I grew up in a southern family, so grits are a staple in my diet. These were perfectly cheesy and savory(which grits should always be! Don’t add no sugar to my grits!). I ordered the district poboy… Wasn’t my favorite, but I will try more. Cuz those grits were amazeballs. YUMMY

I’m struggling to rate this place. Full disclosure, I ordered Po Boy Jim using Über Eat’s new app. When you order from Po Boy Jim on the app, you pick what you want and then in the special instructions you pick if you want a grilled or fried po boy. So okay. In the app, I specified that I wanted a GRILLED shrimp po boy with extra sauce on the side for dipping my fries in. After about 30 min wait(which Über does very well at estimating the delivery time) my very unfriendly Über deliver dropped off a plastic bag with my food. What I received was a FRIED shrimp po boy, extra sauce ON the po boy and a side of ketchup. Okay, definitely not what I ordered but I’m hungry. I will say the Fried Shrimp Po Boy is super good! The fried shrimp was great and seasoned well, the chipotle mayo it comes with is super good too. The fries are okay but I’m sure they would be better in person and fresh. Fries come with old bay seasoning which is always a win. Again, I struggle with rating this place because my fried shrimp po boy was really good but it wasn’t what I ordered.

I’ll give this place 3 stars out of 5 because of how welcoming the staff was from the moment I walked in until I left. The food really didn’t compel me to write a review but here it goes. The shrimp po boy came with fries. It was very boring and … boring. The fries tasted old and dry. People were raving about it on the Unilocal reviews but I was disappointed. The service at the bar was great, the food just didn’t add up. Some people that were seated seemed to be complaining but they’ll have to write their own review lol.

I am most definitely not one to waste food but I would’ve been better off throwing away my po boy and fries. Everything was salt OVERLOAD starting from my over cooked fries to the sauce on the po boys. Somehow they managed to burn the bread but still have it be greasy. For the price you pay, I expected more… Much much more. The cleanliness and state of the restaurant was repulsive. The downstairs looks like you’re eating at Popeyes and the upstairs is a dirty bar scene with a few sticky tables to choose from. I wouldn’t touch the bathrooms unless your bladder was erupting. The floors are ungodly sticky and it’s like they don’t even try to clean it daily. I’ll just hold it, thanks… The service was an even mix between nonexistent and rude. I chalked it up to an off weeknight dinner service but I will never come back. Overall, below average food with terrible service and the cleanliness will make you question how hungry you are. You’d be better off with grabbing snacks from the Walgreens down the street. Also — My friend and I are in agreement that the false high ratings are from the free Beignets you get if you leave a Unilocal review. Don’t be fooled like we were…

This food is really, reallyy good! I would give it a solid 4.5 if possible. The drinks are really good too! Probably the closet thing to true New Orleans cuisine that I’ve found in the area. I’ve had the gumbo(bomb!), the shrimp & grits(so bomb), the District(soooo good!) & the Battered Catfish Poboy’s, the red beans & rice… all amazing! On all other accounts, the waiters could be more attentive & quicker, & the place could use a DJ!!! They unfortunately replayed the same 10 songs on repeat while we were there. It should be more livelier; they’re representing N. O!

Unexpected awesomeness! The fried shrimp po boy — wow! Just as good as Nawlins baby! Really — it’s that damn good. The deviled eggs are amazeballs! And the wings — MMMmmmMmmm! Skip the beignets — they were dense and flavor-less. Service was a little slow though our waitress was pleasant. I can’t really blame her for the slow service because she was the only server AND bartender upstairs. I will definitely be coming back!

One of my favorite go to restaurants. Attentive and friendly wait staff. Such a very warm environment, kind of feels«at home.» Great for a family night out, low key date night, or out with your friends. I think I should try a few more po’boys in order to provide a fair critique, nothing that stands out yet. Not bad, but not mouth watering good either. I do love their wings and always order them first.

The food here is solid. It’s not the best thing I’ve ever eaten but it’s good. Not sure if you have to specify what kind of fries you want but I was given straight cut fries instead of crinkle cut… Not an issue just an observation. I came on a Wednesday night around 8 and it was nearly empty. Service was nice and courteous but the food came out slowly. I will be back to maybe try another Po boy and definitely to try the bread pudding.
