We came here for the first time today to meet up with friends. I always find it hard to find a place locally where we don’t have to fight over seating place near DuPont so this was a pleasant surprise. There was plenty of room and the shop had so many cute things to shop for. I got a hot chocolate and loved it. If it wasn’t so cold I would have been adventurous and tried out the watermelon pop. Their baked goods looked tasty too. I would definitely come here again and try out everything I didn’t get to during this first trip.

From what I could tell from my visit, Pleasant Pops serves as a small local coffee shop with very limited seating where the tables are monopolized by students, books, and computers. This is all fine and good but leaves minimal seating for customers who just want to sit and enjoy a coffee for 30 minutes. The menu was interesting and I wanted to try a homemade pop, but since it was a bit cold out I opted for the hot chocolate pop which is a cube of hot chocolate on a stick(milk, dark or mexican) dipped into hot milk(whole, almond, or soy). The milk chocolate flavored pop had a rich taste and was enjoyable. My friend ordered a cookies and cream pop that had large chunks of cookies in it. He said it was«different» tasting but seemed to like it overall. The pop melted quickly. I was interested in taking a Chongos pop to go and inquired if their was a way to prevent the pop from melting during my 30 minute ride home. The staff suggested wrapping the to-go pop in a ziploc bag with some ice. Unfortunately, the pop didn’t make it through the journey in one piece. The pop wrapper is not sealed at the bottom near the pop stick so basically I ended up with a baggie full of ice and melted Popsicle. I tried to salvage what I could and I think it could have been a flavorful pop if it remained intact. I do recommend trying the Chongos pop made with mexican cream and cinnamon, if you like creamy pops. Their best seller is apparently the Strawberry Ginger Lemonade. Service was just okay. It would have been nice if the staff would have informed me that my drink was ready. They just stuck the cup on the opposite side of the counter without a word.

My boyfriend is a popsicle fanatic, so I have to say we’ve visited a hefty number of paleta shops around the country.(Our favorites to date are Nicey in Indianapolis and Paleta in Nashville, TN). However, this spot is a fun new addition to the list with similar prices and innovation. I especially appreciated that they offer a four popsicles for $ 11. Hey, it’s only $ 1 but we always order at least four so we’ll take the extra incentive. Another unique element at this joint? Hot pops — popsicles used to make hot cocoas. Smart for seasonality– which appears to be one of the biggest challenges for popsicle businesses. Down to the flavors: I opted for the Chongo which is equivalent to horchata. Lucky for me, my friends were generous and I was able to try the coconut, peppermint and cookies and cream. The Chongo hit the spot for this visit but I can imagine the peppermint being a perfect refresher on a hot summer day.

Come here and expect: gourmet popsicles, gourmet coffee, gourmet mini market, simple seating What I got from it: I love coming here in the nicer days of 65 °F and having a delicious popsicle; I love coming here for some coffee and conversation; I love to make an excuse to just come here. And I’m not the only one who thinks pleasant thoughts about this joint. Obama’s advisors knew this place is legit, so they sent him here on «Small Business Saturday,» and he shows up in plain clothes to support this place. It’s organized, they place attention to details, and they participate in the community of Adams Morgan(i.e. Summer Movie Nights, Front Porch Fest, Adams Morgan Day…). If you are looking for a bite, everything is pretty great. Beware, the portions are small but use some premium ingredients. FYI there are very vegan-friendly fare options! If you don’t have a pleasant experience here, do pop them an email and tell them what went wrong… I bet they will respond with care. ;)

I am so disappointed. I just ordered a salad to go and took it out the bag to find a HALFFULL container. There is barely anything in here. What a joke.

Cute! I came here specifically for a popsicle after lunch. Kind of neat to browse all the local products in this«market» but I didn’t see anything I would have liked. Cucumber Jalapeño — Refreshing popsicle, but eh. Not my thing. Coconut — I love coconut and this hit the spot: creamy from the coconut milk but also there were bits of shredded coconut in it. I wanted another, and almost opted to get a second popsicle(I was thinking cookies and cream) for the walk back. They could work a bit on their service/operations. When I ordered the Coconut popsicle they said they weren’t sure if they had any and they would check. It took almost 10 minutes for them to check(maybe they were short staffed with just 2 people working on a Sunday morning/noon), but my boyfriend was almost halfway done with his popsicle before they confirmed they got mine. I’d still come back though if this were near me again on future DC trips.

The cookies & cream was so delicious! Loved the chunks of Oreo cookies in each bite! Can’t wait to try their other flavors!

I love it here! I’ve only ever gone for the pops so I can’t review the actual food(though it looks delicious). The atmosphere is nice, both for a lunch date in the clean, airy spot and for a summer night outside on their huge tables. I’ve tried the cucumber chili Popsicle, the strawberry ginger lemonade Popsicle, and the watermelon mint Popsicle(my phone keeps capitalizing Popsicle I don’t have an explanation). My absolute favorite was definitely the cucumber chili — it was sweet and refreshing without being too sweet. The spiciness of the chili was really subtle yet satisfying. Also, you could tell how fresh and awesome the ingredients were — I got pieces of cucumber seeds and skin(which wasn’t a bad thing). I loved it so much, I wish I could eat these every day. The strawberry Popsicle was also very good. It had a lot of natural strawberry flavor(I feel like usually strawberry flavored things taste super pink and artificial). I couldn’t taste the ginger at all. To be honest, the only way I got any hint of it was when I burped and tasted ginger(TMI?). However, it was still yummy altogether as a Popsicle. The watermelon mint is good, but not my favorite. It’s kind of a quieter flavor, if that makes sense. It takes a while to grow on you. However, it’s refreshing and definitely packed with fresh watermelon and mint(I also got a seed in here). I love the pops here, I want to keep trying as many flavored as I can. They’re so perfect for summer!

We were visiting from out of town and found this fun treasure on Unilocal.I had the Mint Lemonade Popsicle and it was delicious! It was light, refreshing and not overly sweet, my pregnancy craving perfected! My husband had a blueberry Lemonade. Also very good!

This is the best popsicle I have ever had. I didn’t even know that was possible. I thought a popsicle was just a popsicle. I was so very wrong. I am normally a huge ice cream person, and the consistency of popsicles is not always preferential to me. I got the cookies and cream popsicle, and I was blown away by the whole oreos in it. I could eat about a million of these. It is a little pricey, but it is also a good treat.

A welcome retreat from the scorching heat and the chance to sample a trendy treat motivated me to enter this establishment. The location was well lit and contemporary, and my watermelon mint popcicle hit the spot! Now I did spit out the mint leaves, and will probably avoid this flavor due to that, although I did find it yummy. I look forward to returning, although I was a bit sticker shocked at the price for one pop($ 3).

**4.5** It’s walking distance from Adams Morgan! Only a couple blocks down the road. This place is pretty sweet! No pun intended(; I came in with a friend and we decided to be super fat and get 4 popsicles to share.(Plus they have a little deal where if you buy 4 pops, it’s $ 11! You’re saving a dollar!) We got cookies & cream, New Orleans ice coffee, strawberry ginger lemonade, and hibiscus pomegranate. I loved all of them except for the ice coffee. If you think cold, strong espresso tasting ice cream is delicious then you would definitely like it in popsicle form. I was expecting it to be sweet but it was really over powering. I would come back to try all the other flavors they have! :)

Did you know Pleasant Pops serves lunch too? Pleasant Pops is mostly known for its delicious $ 3 popsicles(cookies n cream is my fave) but they actually serve a variety of teas, coffee, and delicious sandwiches and salads. There is a decent sized seating area inside with low and higher tables, a fridge with takeaway items like quiches, chocolate milk, their in-house hot chocolate pops(highly recommended) that are all locally produced. The most popular salad is dijon sprout salad($ 4.00 for half portion and $ 7.50 for full portion) which is a mixture of shredded brussel sprouts, cheese, and walnuts. They also have seasonal salads, which are delicious! They also have amazing sandwiches, which I highly recommend(around $ 8). If you are more of a tea and coffee person, make sure to get a punch card, and get a drink for free after coming back a couple of times. Pleasant Pops keeps me coming back!

For the past six years, my husband and I have suffered through the first two weeks of May since our apartment is super cheap and refuses to turn on the a/c until the very last possible moment. Thanks to Pleasant Pops we have been able to survive through the heat. While it is easy to go across the street and go ham on a box of Flavor Ice like I did as a kid to cool down, as an adult I have developed a palette for natural, fresh and seasonal flavors. Hands down, my favorite popsicle here is their humble coconut with real chunks floating about but they also sell a variety of other fun flavors such as Mexican Sweet Corn + Cinnamon or New Orleans Iced Coffee. Their delicious pops has inspired me to try to get into the homemade Popsicle game. I got a Zoku and everything. but let’s just say that this is something best left to the experts. Pleasant indeed.

After seeing that Pleasant Pops was not at the Dupont Farmer’s Market last week, I was glad to see them back yesterday and to see a mother indulge her two daughters with popsicles around 9:30 am. I stayed strong and resisted and picked up leafy greens instead. Then fast forward a few hours later when my friend and I were walking in the neighborhood and the opportunity to indulge came upon me again. This time the temptation was too great, the temperature was high, and the sun was beating down on us. I did not resist and waited through a relatively fast moving line to get a Carolina Sweet Tea popsicle for $ 3 and a small opal basil lemonade for $ 2.50. On top of that, right where you pick up your drinks, there is a little fountain so I downed two cups of water while I waited. I like that my card got punched a couple of times for my visit yesterday so I am sure I will make myself come back but will try to find a time when it is not so crowded. Big groups crowded around tables but I saw individuals with their laptops and people sharing tables. It seems like the menu does not have meat so if you want a light and refreshing meal, this is the place for you! I’m holding out on five stars only because I didn’t try a dairy popsicle and wanted to see how those would taste. I did sample my friend’s cardamom coconut pop and that was sort of more creamy than mine, which was more icy. Nevertheless, a nice treat on a hot day!

Came here around 10am on a Sunday morning, a bit busy but not too crowded. FOOD They have a variety of baked goods, coffee, salads, and more on their menu in addition to their pops. I came here on a mission for a popsicle and got the strawberry ginger lemonade popsicle for $ 3. A bit pricey for the size. The popsicle was packed full of fresh strawberry flavor with the zesty tang of lemonade. It was difficult to pick up the ginger flavor though; if it wasn’t in the name, I might not even have realized it was there. There was maybe a slight aftertaste of ginger? Yummy popsicle nonetheless. AMBIENCE Sunny, lots of windows and indoor & outdoor seating. Would be great for people watching or accomplishing some work. From a cursory glance, there are at least two outlets. SERVICE Can’t comment too much about this since the only interaction I has was purchasing the popsicle. Friendly and open to giving suggestions! Overall, a bit pricey for the size of the popsicle but may be worth it for the freshness/unique flavors. Worth a try if in the area or craving a gourmet popsicle. Might return to try the cookies and cream popsicle. Solid 3.5÷5 based on a single popsicle.

I can go for this place all-season, whether it’s cold or hot outside, 24/7…Prepare to get a brain-freeze that never felt or tasted so good. Pleasant Pops is just one of those places that will make you stop for just that special fix… Or, for lack of a better word…“Chill Pill”– Popsicle + Coffee! I know this because I am here right now, typing this review… having a moment with this combination while it is 32 degrees outside. LOL These homemade gourmet Popsicles are not only all-natural…they are HELLALICIOUS! So many different flavors to try and choose from! The flavors change frequently so it seems that the product never gets boring. For $ 3 dollars a pop, it is a sweet deal and reasonable in my book considering the quality and real fruit ingredients. They also have a outdoor seating to sit down and eat them which is great during the spring/summer. There is also seating on the inside, small but with wooden installed benches. Whether you stopping by for a quick moment or sitting in for the long haul, I find this place accommodating. Pleasant Pops stay open seven days a week and provide a comfortable work environment with free WiFi for those that need to get connected while working, enjoying their pops, coffee, and vegan bites. On weekends, it can get crowded but don’t let that deter you because their goods is worth it. Although there is an expansive vegan and sandwich menu, I mainly chill here for the pops and coffee. My FAVORITES are the: 1) «Strawberry Ginger Lemonade» — This is my favorite. Sound like a interesting combination? Yes, it is and man… it is so good! Very refreshing, clean and quench the thirst buds. 2) Tie Between the«Pineapple Basil» and the«Cookies n’ Cream» Pop — Both, are very good but have very different-distinct taste profiles by their own rights. One has more of a creamy, sweet profile with bites of «Oreo-like» cookie inside. The other is more of tangy, sweet taste with a herbal sort of «cannabis» note…*smirk*. Not that I would know anything about that. LOL Skip the Ice cream, coffee and go all out for a Pop! Pleasant Pops Farmhouse Market & Café is always on my list of favorite neighborhood shops and I look forward to making a stop every time I head to my barber shop next door. With an extensive café-coffee drink menu, seasonal vegetarian & regular food menu, soups, a variety of market items from local vendors, and… of course the homemade pops… Pleasant Pops has something for everyone which is what’s so cool about this place!

I actually really love this place even more each time that I come. The egg salad sandwich is excellent as is the kale salad(which is my favorite).

What a great little spot! Pleasant Pops is so much more than just, well, pleasant pops. It’s a quirky, well-lit, indie space with a surprisingly decent amount of seating for its size, always full of folks working on laptops or lunching with friends. In addition to their signature ice pops, which comes in dozens of unique flavors, they also serve vegetarian food, including a really stellar Romesco & Roasted Cauliflower Sandwich(house-made romesco sauce, roasted cauliflower, & pickled red onions on ciabatta). Everything is pretty clearly listed in terms of what’s vegan, gluten-free, contains dairy, etc., which makes it easy to find something off their menu to suit your palate & your dietary needs. All of their ingredients seem to be locally sourced, with a list of their suppliers available online & in store(including Capital Kombucha, Souper Girl, Blind Dog Bakery, Gordy’s Pickle Jar, & other area faves). They also have a small pantry/cooler of locally made products for sale, both edible & otherwise(snacks, sides, stationery, to name a few). Another thing I dig about Pleasant Pops is that they’re a great neighbor, participating in lots of local events, including the Dupont Farmers Market & fundraisers for various causes. You’ll often see them listed as a sponsor of neighborhood happenings & festivals. I like to support places that support their local community, & Pleasant Pops definitely fits the bill.

I’ve only had the Pleasant Pops and sat whilst eating them so my review will be limited to those aspects until I come and try their other offerings. The homemade popsicles are so good. They are a bit pricey($ 3.00 per pop), but for an indulgence every so often they are phenomenal. They have rotating flavours, I like the coconut and the cardamon in particular. They sell coffee, tea, and hot chocolate to go and to enjoy on site. They also sell soups, sandwiches, and breakfast items. Vegetarians should like the offerings also. There is a small section where you can buy Trickling Springs milk in glass bottles, fresh bread, maple syrup etc. The shop itself is small with a hip vibe(almost everyone had an Apple laptop as my Apple loving friend pointed out). It is quiet so good for studying or conversation with friends. Lots of windows make it very light and open inside. Please don’t plop your backpack on a chair and keep someone from sitting. There is outdoor seating available also. Since they are not located directly on one of the main drags in Adams Morgan, it is possible to sit outside without being drowned out by traffic. Give this place a try. Go local!

I think they do everything they do very well, but CAVEAT… I’ve never had their pops! It’s just been too cold since I found out they existed. This summer tho… As for their latte’s, I’ve spent a few morning reading and sipping, and I’ve snagged a few pastries(shout out to the croissant!) and enjoyed them crumbling all over my book. I also enjoyed the flavor — great latte’s, great pastries, great place to chill in Adams Morgan. And my wife loves their juice, she’s got a whole fleet of cold-pressed juice bottles in our closet!(they have a screw-on top and she saves them) I’ll hold off on the 5th star until I taste their namesake product.
