Amazing Hookah Spot in the heart of H Street! Moe, the manager does an amazing job of making sure everyone is enjoying themselves, and the Hookah. One of my favorite DC spots to take friends visiting from out of town.

My first experience at Nomad started a little rocky but finished on a high note. We had to wait outside for about 15 – 20 minutes and then another 10 minutes(It seemed like there was a lack of communication on someones part). Once inside, it took us 15 minutes to get service(it was pretty busy, so I can’t be mad about that, right?) Finally, the waitress took our orders and the hookahs came out quick. Overall, great music selections, great vibes and the drinks were good also. The waitress did apologize for the miscommunication earlier, so she was good in my books again. Yes, I would recommend this hookah spot to others.

I have to admit, I did not have high hopes for Nomad when I first saw it and boy was I ever wrong. Nomad is a different kind of Hookah Bar that from what some people are used to in places like Loudoun, Fairfax, and Arlington County where Hookah bars have become increasingly repugnant(crap interiors, appallingly pretentious sludge peddled as «high-end Middle Eastern cuisine», and of course the absolutely vitriolic coterie of people who linger all day long occupying tables thereby not allowing any new customers to enter — insufferable. Not Nomad — as it has a much more chill and relaxed kind of vibe. It’s a small space occupying a historic 19th century building with no pretentious interiors — just beautifully exposed brick, simple and comfortable furniture, intimate late-night vibe with splashes of colorful lights illuminating the brickwork with R&B/Hiphop as a noticeable backdrop. Think of a much more toned down night-club minus the dancing and add the hookahs. And to that end, there are ample amounts of Hookah flavors to choose from(among them are popular flavors like ‘Pink,’ ‘Two Apples,’ and ‘Bubble gum’) and an extremely comfortable outdoor patio which make for a good time especially for those in the group who are not hookah enthusiasts. The drink options are plentiful and the service is outstanding — it has more or less our impromptu hangout spot post dinner on H Street. Also if you just want the hookah tobacco to take home, they also sell it there at a premium price. For a much better bargain on that, try going to one of the Ethiopian convenient stores on 7th Street NW in Shaw.

This is hands-down my favorite hookah spot for just smoking and drinking in DC. I love the atmosphere and the service is always on point. My favorite part about Nomad is the outside patio. I am a lover of sitting outside to eat and drink and of course smoke hookah. In addition to the ambiance being great Nomad sticks to what they know.. . hookah!!! There is no food so one should eat before arriving and that is not hard to do as it is located in the H Street Corridor surrounded by TONS of places to eat. I’ve been here on dates and with my girls to chill and with a bunch of folks just to hang out and each time I was very satisfied. I can’t wait to return this weekend and put it in the air while sitting outside sipping my drink.

I’m not too big on hookah, but I’m into vibes. Nomad has got vibes. Unless you want to stay as far away as possible from smoke, I’d definitely recommend Nomad if you’re in the mood for a laid back evening. My first visit, my friends and I sat out on the sidewalk patio and soaked up the sounds of the city. Since it was around 10pm, I could tell the scene was picking up a bit and the music inside was a reflection of that, crankin’ some of the newest, most popular hip hop. Service was prompt, communicative and the manager on site was super friendly. The second time I dropped by it was much earlier in the day, just a bit after opening around 6pm. It was much less crowded, so we found a nook inside where we could enjoy a little bubbly. We really only planned on having a glass or two, but when the waitress told us that a bottle was only around $ 39(?) we went for it. With the sun peaking through the windows, in our silk adorned, cushioned nook, we ended up hanging out for hours just chatting and people watching. Our waitress was so patient with us and continued coming back to check on us every 20 minutes or so to make sure everything was still all good. If we had needed her attention prior, she was always within sight, ready to look out for us. Overall, a great option on H Street if you like hop hop but appreciate a laid back vibe.

I really liked this place. Awesome service ! The sheesha was good, especially when it comes to sheeshas in the states! Probably the best I’ve had yet on the east coast. My only complaint is the charcoal, the charcoal they use has a different use, middle easterns use it for a special type of wood that brings inscent. Other than that the service was very good, I am suprized that a hookah place has such good service !! I’d definitely be back

I went here last week after having a few drinks earlier in the day to do some hookah. The place is on the smaller side and gets crowded very easily. We sat outside initially since there was more space outside than inside. Our server was nice and personable, she greeted us warmly, took our order quickly and even changed our drink when we complained they were too watered down. The hookah was just okay– it was smooth, but not packed perfectly since the flavor died quickly. This place is great for a date or just a night with the girls. It’s very intimate and cozy, dim lights, and a good ventilation system as I didn’t smell hookah from the other patrons. The music is pretty good too.

I absolutely love Nomad. Apart from being super close to where I live, the caveat is the ambiance. It’s never too crowded, and the outdoor seating is perfect for summer nights and people watching. The staff are friendly and the drinks are always great. They also play really good music. Dino is a hookah expert(lol). He taught me how to properly prepare my chicha for my personal hookah.

A cute after dinner date night spot. I can’t say enough good things about this place! I’ve been 5 – 6 times now and I keep returning because the service is FANTASTIC! Big props in particular to Mia, Mohammad, and Anees(who also shares my brother and grandfather’s name). It’s worth the trip from Arlington to NE when you’re looking for a nice hookah bar in the city– quite frankly I think it’s the best hookah spot DC proper has! I forgot to mention how accommodating they were when we showed up with 15 people on a Saturday night! We were seated within minutes and everyone was taken care of all evening!

This place is definitely crowded so expect to wait a bit. It’s very crowded on weekends and there seems to be a relaxed vibe but depending on my mood it can be a hit or a miss for me even though everyone else seems to be having a good time. I think the patio is very lovely but you’re not allowed to stay out on the patio past 1am? According to the managers, it’s for a residential noise regulations. Okay, I get it but at least have the decency for someone to inform my party when we sit down. Our waitress was not attentive at all, i saw her only twice and that was because I got her attention. At that point I got the attention of any waiter that passed by so I can either order a drink or replace a coal. I understand that Nomad is packed on weekends but a little but more effort in service is is appreciated. As for the drinks, can’t complain — they are strong and that is what I like and the prices are attractive, especially when comparing to other bars/hookah spots in the DC area. Shout-out to the bartender for mixing nice drinks. As for professionalism, I witnessed the a manager(assuming) and a waitress arguing in front of customers. I totally get that sometime shit gets tough and there is a lot of pressure at a bar on a Saturday night, but you’re making this awkward for me and other patrons. Yet, I guess everyone else was tipsy and in their chill zone to even notice. Overall, I would come back here again because it’s in close proximity and the vibe isn’t bad, but it is cramped inside and outside and I do love my space. Also, decent hookah and drink prices. Nomads is a place to go to chill, drink and smoke good hookah. :-)

Thank god we had a cool server. My friend wanted to celebrate her graduation last night. She called in advance to let them know a bigger party would be there about 10 to possibly 15 folks. They said that would be fine. I was one of the first to arrive and the owner basics llc explained that each table has a server and they didn’t know if they could accommodate. As ppl seed to flow in we moved outside to the patio and starting setting up our hookas and buying drinks. We were told there is no food served which is fine but also no outside food allowed. As more friends started to visit the owner was seen making a disappointed expression each time… upset that more ppl with money to buy hookah and drinks were friends of ours. We had friends scattered all over the patio but we followed rules about taking chairs from other tables and things. The lack of communication on the management’s part is the only thing that bothered me. The owner was so bent out of shape regarding how many ppl showed up even after we followed the rules. Other then that the drinks are about 10 dollars a pop. which would be fine if they weren’t serving happy hour sized drink filled with ice to the brim. The juicy fruit was good good. We tried lemon mint/margarita/and blue something. All were nice. I would come back. Its better and cleaner than gazuza. They also need to work on bigger tips for the hookah pipe. I only gave them a 4 because I waitress was very nice about accommodating all of us.

Went on a Saturday night with some friends. This place gets PACKED, since it’s pretty small. Expect to be elbow to elbow with your friends and neighboring tables – not too bad though since everyone is usually really chill and having fun. Seating is a mix of benches against the wall and small poufs that got really uncomfortable after a while, so try to snag a bench seat(and let your friends suffer). Service was super friendly and quick, despite how busy they were. We had no problems getting our orders in or getting new coals. There was a minimum of $ 100 for the table for our group of 8, which was reasonable and easy to reach(4 hookahs at $ 25 a piece). We stayed for 4 hours and didn’t have any problems. No food, sadly! Not sure if tap water was available either or if purchasing bottled was the only option. I had two bottles of Stella, which ran around $ 6 each.

Nomad is definitely an asset to the the H street area; great hookah, great atmosphere, great vibe, and good drinks, all without having to trek across town to NW. What I like most about Nomad is that they stick to what they know: hookah. There’s no food or appetizers(so if you’re hungry, eat before you arrive) so the entire experience is all about smoking and drinking. Because of this specialization, I was downright impressed with a number of things: –the hookah flavor list is pretty impressive and reasonably priced(and even a better deal during happy hour); –the service is exceptional; they don’t charge you for additional coals and replace them frequently without you having to ask; –they are not stingy with the tobacco. One hookah(shared amongst two people) will last you for hours. –the environment is small and intimate, making it a great date spot. The only mistake I made was heading to Nomad on game night during football season; people hooping and hollering at televisions can seriously interrupt your laid-back vibe. I love this spot and will definitely be visiting it regularly.

I was suspect of this place from the outside looking in, but when I walked in I was immediately loving the vibe. This hookah bar wasn’t filled with pretentious people, but rather people who were looking up chill out like myself. The waitress quickly seated me and my friend and made several flavor selections for the hookah. We trusted her and had the watermelon mint. It was very good. The staff was very attentive and was changing the charcoal regularly. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience and I can’t wait to go back during happy hour after a stressful day of work.

Puff… Puff…Pass…is the Cardinal Rule. Unfortunately, I do not. Well, I must admit occasionally I would partake in a herbal refresher…“Tea” that is! LOL. Although the Hookah bar scene is not quite my thang, I decided to meet up with some friends for Happy Hour over on the H Street Corridor. Nomad was the first bar hop of choice. As paranoid as I was about wanting to be in an smoking environment, annoyed and thinking it could be no fun, I must say that I really enjoyed my time at this place. The staff was very friendly upon entering Nomad. Once in the bar you immediately get a sense of a cool, laid-back vibe. The inside is low lit but very spacious. There is even an outside patio which to me made an ideal environment for those in a party that do smoke or partake on the bomb! Ooops… pipe?! Ummm… line?! LOL… Oh well, You catch my drift! For a Thursday night, the bar was jumping! Crowded with folks partaking on the great happy hour prices and hookah coal priced accordingly. As for prices, I must say the drink were well priced($ 4.99 and up) but can’t speak to the hookah coals as to I have not been to many hookah bars in the DC area for a comparison. It’s a typical bar on the revamped H Street Corridor. To sum it all up: SERVICE: Excellent! I felt welcomed upon entering and the hostess was very attentive. DRINKS: Strong! I enjoyed guzzling down the Breezy Blonde and Slammin’ Goddess! Also, there are lot’s of cheap beer choices. Tip… There is a Unilocal Check-in for a Free Beer! Even during Happy Hour! VIBE: Casual to trendy hipsters, low light, intimate, no lava lamps or incense smells! Not too crowded but I was told by the hostess they can reach capacity on weekends; which can add to a wait for a table or a long time to get in. The music was not too loud given the space… So conversations could be had without a megaphone! Ideal for groups or intimate 1 on 1’s! Even though I don’t smoke, I definitely did not feel like the odd ball in the entire bar. There were plenty of folk that were there, like me, to be tranquilized by alcohol only; instead of the hookah coals or tobacco. Overall, a great bar and perfect for bar-hopping up and down the H Street scene. The only down-side is that you can’t drink outside on the patio! They need to seriously rethink that policy… imho. Other than that, Nomad is all good! So gather your crew and get out to Nomad… one of the few places in the city where some of everybody in your party can have a good time… at the same time… Smokers, Nonsmokers, Alcoholics, Protestants alike!
