I was on the search for magazines and tried to go to News World. It’s no longer open!

A real newsstand. Out of town newspapers, foreign magazines and newspapers, scholarly pubs, as well as all the regular domestic dailies & weeklies — pretty much everything that’s available in print these days. I’ve been a regular for years. News World has improved lately after a few years where they were a little bit disorganized and tended to leave outdated materials on the shelves. They’ve turned that around and keep it organized and current. And there’s now a large poster in the street window listing all the newspapers around the globe that you can have printed on the spot and take with you; and service is good. Most of the time it seems there’s someone knowledgeable working the counter. The other day I got the current day’s issue of the UK Guardian and the Globe and Mail printed out. I wasn’t able to wait for the 10 or so minutes it would have taken to print, so they delivered the copies to my office that morning. No hassle at all.

Whatever happened to good old-​fashioned newsagents?
This one is close enough, with newspapers and magazines from around the world, and an impressive selection of relics, including a ton of Obama inaguaration memorbilia that people (read: I) stood in line for for hours 4 years ago.
I would have spent more time here, but they didn’t have the magazine I was looking for, unfortunately. They seem to have ever other publication on the planet, though.

Conveniently located right next to the Farragut North metro station is News World. Conveniently located next to News World is a Starbucks. Get off the metro; get your morning coffee and then stop into News World. Very great place. You can find about any magazine you’re interested in, as well as just about any newspaper. Foreign or US. based.
For smokers like myself, it’s also convenient. I can pick up my daily/​bi-​daily pack whilst in there.
The guys who run the place are usually pretty cool and friendly as well. Not a bad place to frequent at all.
