Many convenience stores in Washington DC do 90% of their business on Cheetos, lottery tickets, stale pre-packaged donuts, and single-sale booze. This attracts unsavory characters, which attracts bulletproof glass, which doesn’t make for a happy shopping experience. Plus, you can’t eat too many bags of Cheetos for dinner. That’s why I’m so happy to live around the corner from Morazan Grocery, or as we call it, the bodega. The secret: no lottery tickets, no booze. Instead, you can buy: eggs milk, sour cream orange juice and other juices different types of bread and rolls canned vegetables and tomato sauce and coconut milk and more several types of pasta many different types of spices CHEAP fresh cilantro, zucchini, broccoli, green peppers yucca, plantains, bananas, sweet corn, potatoes raw meat and seafood cleaning supplies boxed Jello, pudding, flan ice cream soda pop flour, sugar, bouillon, all your basic staples and much much more! The prices are as good or better than you will get at the Giant down the street, without the ‘tude. They also have a counter at the back where you can order take-out food. Everything is clean. The staff is just sometimes a bit grumpy. But there’s rarely a line more than one or two people, so you’re in and out in a jiffy. If you live in the neighborhood, please stop on by and support this neighborhood gem.
