Best salad place in DC, I have to stop myself from eating here every day. Seriously, if it closed I would be distraught. The soy sesame dressing is delicious and their ingredients are better than the other salad places. Tip: order the small. It’s still tons of greens and you save a couple bucks.

I remember the days when the only reasonably heathly fast-food option in the city was Subway. I like Mixt. I like it a lot. If I had to rank DC’s salad options, I’d say Mixt is a tad better than Sweet Green, and both are miles ahead of Chop’t. Mixt is a pretty neat venue. Not only are the menu items generally healthy, but it also caters to locavores. There’s a map in the corner that shows were each major ingredient came from, with the furthest points of interest being based in Delaware and Pennsylvania. One thing to note are the venue’s hours: Mixt closes at 4pm on weekedays and isn’t open at all on the weekend. This isn’t unusal for it’s business-centric neighborhood, Farragut, but it can catch the unprepared off-guard. Since it caters to the launch crowd, Mixt offers two salad sizes at different price points. You can order your salad, made-on-the-spot, at the counter or choose from a number of freshly made salads in the fridge by the register. Oh, and do try ordering carry-out and enjoying you salad in Farragut Square or by the White House.

For the amount of time I waited in line to order and purchase my salad, I should have gotten the most phenomenal salad in the world. I didn’t. Which is why I’m writing a review because I’m really angry. I made my own salad and took it back to work. When I started digging through it, I noticed they forgot to add the asparagus I had asked for. TWODOLLARASPARAGUS no where to be found!!! That makes me really angry. Also, their«mango» looks more like shredded cheddar cheese and I probably got 5 shreds total. Way to skimp. I give them 3 stars because they have a lot of good choices and their tofu and blackberry vinaigrette are really good. I would choose Sweetgreen or Chop’t over it any day, though.

**** 2.5 stars **** I tried Mixt for the first time today… the wait was not long and the salad options are good. I opted for the Siam salad which has an East Asian theme. My disappointment was that I really didn’t see the person add the tofu I purchased to the salad bowl, so I asked about it again. She claimed it was in there. When it came to pay, I mentioned that the salad was supposed to have tofu, but I did not see any. The cashier was very nice and offered to add more tofu on top of my salad, since I was paying a dollar extra for it. I really was indifferent about it but thought he had a good service orientation. When I ate the salad, I only saw the pieces of tofu that he added on the top. So I am confused about what went on here… the«regular amount» of tofu they add is so small as to be negligible! This matters if you need to consume protein at lunch. One of the good features of this place is that you can ask for light, medium or heavy dressing, unlike many other places. I found all the ingredients to be fresh and the amount of greens is abundant. It is a large and filling salad for the money and I will probably go back and try some other salads. While other places in the neighborhood have even more filling salads(such as Breadline), Mixt has much healthier options — more greens than toppings — and their ingredients are nice and fresh, stored in a cooler environment, so less risk of spoilage in the hot summer months. You also have the choice of substituting one of their ingredients for an ingredient of your own choice, and there are different greens available. This is best for a take-away lunch unless you show up early. It was very crowded at 1PM when I arrived and I decided to not eat in the restaurant.

This is my new favorite lunch spot. The staff was friendly and the line moved surprisingly fast for how long it was. Everything was very fresh. I had the Bachelor Salad and enjoyed every bite. Hmm what shall I try tomorrow?

People are a little militant about their salad joints, aren’t they? Yet when you’re reviewing near-identical chains, everything’s a comparison. Well, all the upscale, high-priced gourmet salad joints are good/fine/decent. I SAIDIT. They all have reasonably fresh ingredients nearly all the time, and a good enough selection. What for do I need 800 options? more than 20 is probably fine; I don’t need to be coddled by my salad artists, or whatever they call ‘em. What sets Mixt apart, if anything? I like being able to order medium sized salads, because I’m more likely to go and get a «side salad» semi-frequently than I am a massive pile of greenery. Mixt is pricey, perhaps even a little more so than some of its competitors, but whereas I’ve had a couple bad experiences at Sweetgreen and heard one or two Chopt horror stories, not for Mixt. AWESOMEBACON, too. If that matters to you. I’d make it a 3.5 star if I could, but not a four.

I read over the other reviews and know there will always be some people who are just unhappy. For me, Mixt Greens has been nothing but a great experience! My coworkers and I decided to try them when we saw them open across the street. I swore off salads about 5 years back, but reluctantly agreed to give it a shot. All I can say is WOW. They have totally changed salads for me. In fact, my coworkers and I order from them every Thursday and usually wander in another time or two during the week. The ingredients are fresh and the salads are creative. Jackie and her team are fantastic. In fact, for my coworkers and I, their salads are usually what get us out of bed on Thursdays! Sure, the salads are a little pricier than Chop’t, but it’s worth it. They’re organic. It’s definitely worth paying an extra couple bucks if you ask me.

Walked past this place and figured I’d give it a shot since I usually have a salad for lunch. Bad Idea. for $ 9 and change I got a «large» salad, which wasn’t very large at all. What I actually got was a box full of mixed greens and some flavorless croutons and barely any of the fix-in’s that were supposed to be in there. I will definitely NOT be going back to here. EDIT: no wonder this place is closed now.

I have been here twice now and I’m hooked! HUGE salads, incredible options, and friendly service. This is a great alternative to Chop’t. I actually think there are much better options here as compared to Chop’t. Go early because there will be a long line. I also recommend getting their VIP cad. I think you spend $ 100(approximately 10 salads) and then you get a $ 10 coupon. Not a bad deal for a big fan!

Summary: Mixt Greens is tapping into the«healthy lunch /salad /light-sandwiches» trend that attracts flocks of business casual customers on their lunch break. A bit pricey compared to other salad places, but you can taste the quality. «The Bachelor» is the best salad on their menu. Details: Fast-casual, upscale salad place that is exactly what it tries to be. You’ll pay a bit more for the salad, but you will feel good afterward. No lunch hangover. Usually a bit crowded at lunch time, but the line moves fast, so don’t get discouraged if the line goes to the door — you’re looking at a 10 minute wait. If you go at about 2pm, it’ll be completely empty. Either way, you’ll find the staff to be incredibly nice(and sometimes dancing). Salad pieces can be a bit big(i.e. big pieces of lettuce, big pieces of chicken) and they don’t do a great job mixing it, ironically. Best Dish I’ve had: The Bachelor Worst Dish I’ve had: Mixt Cobb Salad(slightly bland, besides, branch out! they’ve got a lot of salads you can’t find anywhere else, cobb you can get anywhere!)

Let it be hereby known that all the newish upscale salad joints are NOT alike. Frankly I can’t tell the difference by the names or the looks – but definitely by the food. I walked in for lunch and realized that either the place has a new menu, has different menus by location or was a different place than I thought. It was the third. Salad – mixt cobb – was okay. The butter lettuce pieces were HUGE, and you can’t really cut in the to-go containers so it was messy. Also a tiny bit of chicken and a pretty tasteless house vinaigrette. Made for a meh meal. Oh and prices are pretty high for a salad — $ 10 for regular and $ 8 for medium. I am rating low for value – too much money for too little sparkle. Also, bread was a quarter of a thin sliced. Seriously?

For a slight premium to other mixed greens places, you can have a lunch salad worthy of a four-star restaurant. Highly recommend the Madison. It’s a pleasant place to sit and eat if you can arrive a few minutes before noon to grab a table.

Nothing makes me feel more important than a $ 10 salad in my «important person professional clothes.» Once a mix a tie into my arsenal, I’ll fit in better…

I have finally figured out how to produce a reasonably tasty salad here. Order: Mixt greens, red onions, croutons, roasted potatoes, cherry tomatoes, bacon, and blue cheese crumbles. Add a «medium» amount of blue cheese dressing. Go over to the bar where the water and silverware is, and add copious quantities of salt and pepper. The result is actually kinda tasty.

By far the BEST salad spot I have been to in a LONG time. Everything is fresh fresh fresh. Best selection of salad items too(they have heirloom tomatoes!) Local ingredients which is nice. be careful when adding things to the salad though. The create your own price only includes 4 – 5 ingredients everything else is extra so you can easily wind up with a $ 16 salad LOL. There is a long line at lunch but it moves fairly quickly. They also have sandwiches as well which are really good. You can also turn any of the signature salads into a wrap which is pretty cool.

One of my favorite salad places in the area. They’ve got the best selection of mixings and I find myself craving their salads often. Which says something, since I’m not a salad guy at all. They also have some great sandwiches on the menu. If its important to you, they do have local ingredients(at least advertised on their wall, with the locations/vendors). Everything I’ve had there has been great. It is a bit of a mad house during lunch but the lines move decently quick given the amount of people. They also aren’t cheap but what is around here?

I have been there a few times but have only had the Dagwood because it was so good, I couldn’t bring myself to try anything else. But the service is not that fast. Every time I went the was the cashier was nice but ended up talking to the people in front of me. So if you have limited time for lunch, like I do, I wouldn’t go there unless you work in the area. And its not cheap! All of the things on the menu end up being 10 dollars.

I’ve been to this place four times now, and I think I have given it ample opportunity to not suck. My coworker loves it, but she also like Wilson Phillips. Anyways, the first two times I went, my salads were just meh. Really bland. The third time I went, my salad(Dagwood) was amazing. However, the cashier pointed out to me that I could have retrieved that salad from their fridge case. Um, no. For ten dollars, I want to see you work. Also, I didn’t want croutons. Seemed rude. The fourth time, I got the new guy. The salad I received was so not what I ordered. Even the greens themselves were wrong, and the main ingredient(beets) was missing. Hello, just LOOKUP at the menu to know what goes in. So how did they resolve this? Dumped beets and carmelized onions(not one of the ingredients) on the salad and handed it back to me. Really? Oh yeah, and the salad sucked. Romaine and mesclun greens are not interchangeable. So anyways, I think I am done with this place. I assemble a better salad at SoHo for less money, minus the bitch-tude.

This is a new lunch place on K Street. I see people walking in, but walking out without getting lunch. Hmm… could it be the high prices? My cowboy salad was good, but come on – $ 10(with tax) is too much for a salad with a little chicken on top. If they take $ 3 off the cost of each menu item, they might be around this time next year.

This location just opened up yesterday so there’s still a few kinks to work out as far as efficiency. This was my first time at Mix’t Greens and I have to say I was pretty disappointed. In my opinion, the selection doesn’t even compare to the offerings at Chop’t. I think my problem with it is that it offers too many specific/frufru items and not enough staples. The Mix’t menu is boasting with things like carmelized onions, anchiovies, macadamia nuts, mango, jicama, papaya, but there’s not a lot of regular stuff like ham or swiss. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great to have a whole bunch of frilly offererings, however I think MOST people want to order a salad with basic ingredients and a few frilly toppings – Not a frilly salad with a few basic ingredients thrown in. Day 2 of their opening and they were out of parmasean cheese. The lady manager? was preparing salads without a hair net… that didn’t bother me much, but it grossed out my boss. Even though Mix’t is only a few doors down from my office, I’m still going to trek the 2.5 blocks to Chop’t for my salad cravings.
