LOVETHISPARK! A pleasant surprise in the middle of the city. I visit the Spanish Steps often but found this park by coincidence. Would definitely visit again for an afternoon coffee break or a brief picnic. Perfect location to catch a break during the crazy work day and calm ambiance to tell myself that it will all be okay.

Such a FANTASTIC hidden gem. I spent all day at Mitchell Park last Sunday, when it was gorgeous and 85 degrees out and I could not have picked a better place to enjoy the sun. It’s not as crowded as some of the other local parks and there’s tons of nice grass to sit on. I love how it’s conveniently located but on a quiet enough street that you actually feeling like you’re getting away from the city. It was extra beautiful with all the cherry blossoms – I’ll definitely be back on another gorgeous day!

If you live in Kalorama and you don’t take advantage of Mitchell Park, you’re missing out. I feel like Mitchell Park is my own little reprieve from the city sometimes. On a nice day you’ll find families playing catch, couples picnicking, kids throwing frisbees, etc. But you never feel like it’s too busy, and I actually like to go and throw down a blanket and read. A couple of times a year, it’s also home to neighborhood festivals, which I’ve alwasy found as a great way to meet my neighbors.

One of the nicest local parks in DC. Tennis Courts, a pretty fenced garden to sit in, a good tot lot, and a large open space frequented by dogs. All kept happily separate except when one wants to interact with the other. It is located in the DC equivalent of an Cul-De-Sac, vehicular access on S St and 23rd, but pedestrians will find it from various angles(i.e., up from Fountain Steps, another lovely DC Find). It is near the Woodrow Wilson House, and various embassies.
