Gave me the worst food poisoning I have ever had in my entire life. I spent 8 hours in the ER after eating their fried shrimp basket. Do NOT eat the seafood.

Should’ve listened to the reviews. Ordered food for coworkers. 2 combination fried, one shrimp fried rice and one beef and broccoli. The shrimp fried rice let’s just say they filled in the box they gave me half of it was empty. The fried rice has no flavor to it. All I liked was the iced tea but that’s about it. It all came out to $ 60 for that price I can go get something better for a cheaper price

Poor customer services. Ordered food twice and and it was burnt. My Co worker requested shrimp in his meal was charged $ 3 extra and was given 1 piece of shrimp. When we called the owner she told him he was a lier and that they didn’t burn my food… They were not willing to fix the order.

I typically eat here once a month. Today will be the last time they get my money. The lady at the front counter was so nasty to me, my credit card was declined twice by her machine. I told her to type in the numbers because clearly her machine was broken. She then laid the receipt on the counter and circled the word DECLINED as if I was slow. She then told her cook to cancel my order. She was very nasty to a regular customer. I took my business to Subway and my card was swiped and charged with no issues. Never eat from this ungrateful disrespectful restaurant ever… this place is a dump and the customer service is disgusting.

Ordered delivery — wholly disappointing. * We were quoted at 40 – 50 minutes for delivery — it took 90. * The food was barely warm by the time it arrived. * The food was soggy, and the General Tso’s clumped into an amorphous blob. * The egg drop soup was not sufficiently starched(too watery). * On top of all this — uninspiring food, late delivery — the total bill was $ 37(including prepaid delivery tip). My expectations for standard Chinese food are not that high — and yet this place still fell woefully short.

Work in the Tenley area and pass by this place everyday. I decided to check it out. I watch closely what I eat during the week so I can splurge on weekends without getting fat. This place had a weight watchers chicken and mixed vegetables. It was $ 12.70 with tax so a bit more than the fried lunch special for $ 6.80. It was very basic tasty steamed white meat chicken and broccoli with bamboo shoots, snap peas, baby corn and carrots. Would prefer not to have the carbohydrates of carrots, corn and peas so will probably order chicken and broccoli next time. It will be nice to have some variety from Cava and the whole foods salad bar.

The food was decent but the customer service was horrible and there were flies all over the restaurant. The man taking orders was very rude and nasty. Never would eat from there again

The portions were decently sized, but the staff was rude and brusque both on the phone and in person. Not to mention, the food itself gave both of us stomach aches.

So, part of me still thinks I imagined this. But my friend was with me, and she witnessed the whole thing. Picture it, NWDC on a hot but not-too-humid August day. Mayflower’s delivery driver arrives 30 minutes late. I, matter-of-factly but not rudely, tell him this is unacceptable. The driver then tells me not to order from them again. I’ve never been spoken to this way. He then says«f*ck you» as I call after him. Furious, I call Mayflower to complain. The young man who answered the phone refuses to let me speak to the manager. I tell him what has happened and ask him how he would feel if I went to Mayflower and cursed at him. Instead of apologizing, he says«Well, we only have one driver.» I hang up and decide to pay Mayflower a visit. I’m prepared for a showdown. I enter the restaurant and say that I want a refund. The older woman who was there(but there’s no manager/owner/supervisor, remember?) gave me my money, down to the penny, and then said that I was never to order from them again. I had recently switched my allegiance from another restaurant to Mayflower because of their superior General Tso’s. But I refuse to be spoken to in this manner. Consider yourselves warned. *** Epilogue: I’ve been informed that apparently Mayflower isn’t just mean to black people.(I’m black.) Someone else wrote a review and mentioned the surprisingly poor treatment she received there. Why surprising? Because, as she put it, «I’m Chinese!»

This is the closest thing to NYC style takeout Chinese food I’ve found in DC. It’s a decent take out place, no more, no less, adjust your expectations. The food is a little sweet, and most of it is fried, but what did you expect? A good deal for the money.

General tso is good. Lo mein is alright. Fries with mambo sauce is good! Thats almost all I get from here. It’s true management may come off as rude but may be a cultural thing so no point taken off for that. Overall average chinese carryout

I went to Wilson SHS yeeears ago when I heard about this mysterious Mayflower. I was a freshman and had no clue what it was, Until after school one day, I went with some friends and ordered the General Tos Foo wings that EVERYONEWASRAVINGABOUT. Well, it’s about 10 – 12 years later, and I still have to have them every once in awhile. Only problem is, is that their food is sooo good, the people who work there are a little rude and standoffish… Lol but until I find a place that can make them wings, I will deal with it.

What bothers me the most about this place is how rude they are when you call. The lady that answers the phone has always had an attitude when I call. It’s been an hour and twenty five minutes and I called to see if my food is on its way and she just said«oh I don’t know how much longer okay but it’s ready okay bye» and hung up on me. Like seriously? I’ve called before to order but after seeing how rude they were on the phone I just started ordering online. After today I’m NOT going to order from this place again! Oh and the food is average. I’ve had better.

It is okay. Overly gelatinous. Very sweet delivery. We got several options while at friend’s and they were all fine, but I would probably not have an encore

Hey man, I don’t see what everyone is bitching about. This is standard, salty, cheap Chinese food. Nothin fancy about it. –1 for really salty wonton soup but I’m not picky. Ordered from grub hub. Order got here 5 minutes early. That’s just fine with me. Edit: downgraded to 3 stars because it gave me the shits.

Do not order from this restaurant until they change their current management. I say this as someone who has ordered from Mayflower successfully in the past, or at least until this past weekend. They used to be my favorite delivery spot, but that has certainly changed. In addition to ordering my usual small shrimp fried rice with extra vegetables, I ordered Kung Pao Shrimp and requested that they hold the carrots, MSG, and corn syrup; they sent me a soup with five shrimp, along with a large package of fried rice devoid of vegetables and missing most of the shrimp. I called the restaurant to request a refund or replacement, only to end up talking to a very rude manager who could not explain why the restaurant did not simply call about not being able to accommodate my request on the Kung Pao dish. This is the same restaurant that, in the past, had no problems calling me to switch from one brand of soda to another. A slight pity on losing a quick spot for lunch, but their competition will take up the slack.

There’s a well-known phrase among American University students, «friends don’t let friends order Mayflower». It’s a fully justified adage. Delivery is free and reasonably fast. Don’t let those positives fool you, it’s a trap. I’ve made the mistake of ordering a few times, and paid dearly with the integrity of my bowels. Their chicken is like the sole of a shoe drenched in maple syrup, soy sauce, and MSG. They must fry their spring rolls at least three times. I once was given pork fried rice instead of white rice. I’m pretty sure they didn’t even try to cook the pork. Their broccoli melts in the mouth like mashed potatoes. I could go on, but you get the picture. Never go to Mayflower. Ever.
