Love, love, love this place! The quality of the poultry is most impressive and the service is just as fabulous. The will split, skin, cut, and whatever else you would like done to your choice of poultry. You cannot beat this service. One of the nice ladies even provided me with instructions on the best way to heat up my smoked turkey. I love this place and highly recommend it to anyone wanted fresh poultry!

Who knew poultry could be exciting? This place is wonderful! I love the turkey alternatives to pork products e.g., turkey andouille, turkey chorizo and turkey bacon that will make you go cold turkey(pun intended) on the stuff in your supermarket. The owner and his family are always pleasant, professional and even offer cooking suggestions. My family was shocked when I served turkey ribs! I don’t know how they cut these, but they are actually really, really delicious! Try both the strip and the country bacon — they are both outstanding — real meat — not mechanically separated turkey bits. Also, the regular poultry is a very high quality. My BF is a wing junkie and now he only buys wings here because they taste so much better than what we were getting at Harris Teeter and Safeway. Yes, some things cost a little more, but wow is it ever worth it!

I hate to do this for one particular employee, but I am to the point where I will no longer be returning to Market Poultry I am so appalled… Let me start by saying that I have been a regular customer here for about 2 years now. Every Sunday I go and get my turkey bacon and the occasional hot link. I have had a great experience with all but one person, and only until recently has this become an issue. I get when someone flirts with you that it is usually a compliment. If I am not interested I politely decline their invitations. It becomes a problem when week after week you are undressed by their eyes, when they lick their lips after asking for turkey bacon and he says in a VERY inappropriate tone«do you like it THICK or THIN??». Today I asked for a chicken breast and he grabbed my hand and would not let go. «don’t you want to know what I want??» he says. SHUDDERS. «Nope, because your drool and inappropriately emphasized comments are enough for me, thanks.» First of all old man, it would NEVER happen. Second of all, take a freaking hint. NO. NO. NO. Second, I am just so upset that this guy thinks he can treat people this way. I am sick to my stomach and I feel disgusting. Ladies– DO not subject yourselves to the sexist, nasty old man who thinks he has a right to make you feel like you are a piece of the turkey meat that he handles everyday. I would rather eat dirt for breakfast than encounter this man again.

Market poultry has got something for everyone! *Aspiring chef? Chicken feet($ 3/lb, why so expensive?) and backs(less than $ 1/lb) for chicken stock. Turkey necks if you know what to do with that. *Want a quick snack? Turkey jerky is ready and on the go(and cheap!). Or you could get some turkey sausage for a healthier Sunday brunch. *Dinner to impress someone special? Get a whole, organic, free range chicken to roast. Or a whole turkey leg. *Big Holiday dinner? Special order an entire smoked turkey. Ignore(or laugh at) the rivalry between these guys and Union meat across the way.(Redskins v Jets I think?) Their prices are relatively reasonable(their quality and selection are solid), and these guys are super friendly. You can also call in a special order from them, and their smoked turkey and fried turkey are legendary for Thanksgiving(put your order in waaaaaaay ahead of time). Plus, they take credit card. 4.5 stars man.

These guys and gals serve up poultry from a local(west?) Virginia farm, and services is usually pretty quick and friendly. The prices are decent and its nice to see familiar faces when I get my eggs and turkeys.
